    Take one at the end of you entering Spray Man UK Classic 😂😂on a serious note the educational value of this video to anyone that sprays especially new sprayers is worth its weight in gold the video construction and its format are second to none my friend as you know the Benjamin Moore and Akzo Noble are my go to for my jobs I know it’s in the pipe line but will look forward to seeing you spray Renner and any other product designed for kitchen and furniture re sprays. So in closing my friend well done on another great video and will be looking forward to the next one your friend Simon 👍🏻

      You’re so kind, thank you 🙏 That’s a good idea - I’ll be honest, I spent an hour ‘detail cleaning’ 😄 before I started filming, I thought I can’t show the QuickShot looking like that 🙈 I view the sprayers as earning their keep, and they’re there to be used, day after day working hard.. I keep the inside meticulously clean and storing with Pump Armour, but I have to admit it’s hard sometimes to find the time to bring the outside casing back up to standard 😄 I find Elbow Grease, a cheap household degreaser absolutely amazing.. a quick spray, leave for a couple of minutes and wipe clean with a microfibre cloth and water 👌 Obviously take a little care where spraying, the QuickShot / electronic gun for example, I don’t overly wet certain areas 👍 Thanks again buddy.. regards Pete 💙💯

    What a great video walkthrough! Thanks for sharing your knowledge. I used my quickshot for the first time on a project and used the "recommended" 14 size but ended up spraying way too much material and took forever to dry. I switched to a 310 tip and had great results. How do you know when to switch from the included blue and black mesh filters on the quickshot?

    • @PaintHQ

      Hi Kyle, thank you for watching.. great to hear about your success with a FFLP 310 👏👏👏 There is a guide to matching orifice size to mesh filter sizes on Graco.com support pages.. In general I think of the black 60 mesh for spraying emulsion / latex paint, for walls and ceilings.. Then blue 100 mesh for fine finish / woodwork / trim paints 👍 Hope this helps, keep in touch.. regards Pete 💙💯

    Brilliant video Pete. Extremely informative on tip selection. I particularly like the fact that you showed that getting rid of tails can be done by going up a size in tip. Also that some paints do not want to atomise, no matter what pressure you apply on them.

      Hi Eddie, thank you buddy, as always it’s great to get your input 🙏 One thing I find strange about the application of Scuff-X - is in my opinion it’s marketed as a hugely durable, scuff resisting wall coating, then the satin and semi gloss finishes are very popular (and awesome) on woodwork.. and yeah the product is so high quality, that it sprays as well as it brushes and rolls.. so a bigger orifice tip, such as a .017 - with a wider fan / distribution of material, say a 517 or 617, would be right for spraying walls 👍 But couple that with paint manufacturers, in my opinion over inflating the size tip (orifice) that’s required in the real world.. if you was new to spraying and to follow that information, spraying woodwork with a PAA 217 at 2000 PSI - it would be a horrible experience 😫
      Hope you’re keeping well my friend 🙏 regards Pete 💙💯

    what tip size do you generally use for priming wood before paint? For example spindles.

    • @PaintHQ
      @PaintHQ  День назад

      Good question my friend.. if it’s low viscosity, like the AkzoNobel Enamel Topcoat, I’ll use an FF LP 106 (if I recall I also demo that tip).. it has to be low viscosity though 👍 otherwise I’ll use a an FF LP 208 (a 108 for example would let too much material out in a small fan, potentially leading to runs).. so yeah an FF LP 208 is a good choice for priming staircase joinery - thicker primers, a 210 👍 Regards Pete 💙💯

    • @mikelawwwrie
      @mikelawwwrie День назад

      @@PaintHQ I was thinking something like stix primer which adheres to almost everything haha. Stix has a pretty low viscosity I believe. I've always used a 310, never tried 106/108 or 208/210. Just ordered the quickshot, so I'll give them a try then as I believe they come with it. Appreciate your reply!

    Another great as usual Pete. Out of interest, how long do you usually leave between your coats of paint, i.e. between a mist coat and your 1st top coat and then between your 1st and 2nd top coats? Many thanks.

    • @PaintHQ
      @PaintHQ  Месяц назад

      Thank you my friend, appreciate your support 🙏 Good question - I wait at least one hour between spraying a mist coat (or an acrylic drywall primer), before spraying the first of 2 top coats.. with ceilings, I’ll cross hatch.. moving relatively quick one way, then straight after the other way - so 2 coats quickly to a finish 👍 ..Walls, I’ll wait until flashed off / relatively dry 👍 Woodwork, it depends on the material.. the AkzoNobel acrylic primer / enamel top coat that I use quite often, both dry very quickly - same as Scuff-X, dries very quick 👌 With woodwork / fine finish top coats - I look to spray the first coat moving quick, so it dries very quickly .. Then I lay down a beautiful, good final coat that could be on the brink of running - that dries down silky smooth 👌 but that’s why I say it depends on the material - you need to learn the characteristics 👏👏👏 hope this helps, keep in touch.. regards Pete 💙💯

      Hey, great news on your investment.. Two from this video stand out for different reasons - Benjamin Moore Scuff-X and AkzoNobel Aqualit Enamel Topcoat. Both excellent and very close in their satin finish, AkzoNobel ever so slightly better, in its cabinet like feel 👌 Scuff-X, again an awesome satin finish, bit better opacity and vertical hang s bit more forgiving - a very good product 👌 Both spray beautifully, low pressure with .008 tips, so a FFLP 208 or 308 💙💯 All the best, be sure to let me know how you get on with the UQS 👍 Regards Pete

    Long overdue treasure trove video. So much info and so many questions...
    Clearly HVLP is not your fav (though you do feature it sometimes). Thicker paint can't go neat but would be interesting to see these same paints tried in an HVLP. If I'm not mistaken, you have not diluted any of the featured products, right?
    My own experience with Dulux Trade Satin is that it runs too much and for too long. On a horizontal surface this may not be a problem but on a vertical it is such a pain in the back (and lower)...

    • @PaintHQ
      @PaintHQ  2 месяца назад +1

      Hello my friend.. Yes it’s been a while in the planning, knowing I wanted to highlight certain things and get as much info across as possible 👍 That’s a good point, I’ll look to ‘revisit’ HVLP again soon.. I feel FFLP tips in airless spraying has bridged the gap with HVLP when wanting that fine finish 👌 Coupled with improved paint technology, there’s nothing in the finish.. Also smaller FFLP 106 and 206 have helped gain that HVLP like control - where I would have opted to spray spindles / staircase joinery with HVLP - an FFLP 106 / 206 in the QuickShot and low viscosity paint (like in the video).. it’s awesome 💙 ..I will revisit HVLP though, I do very much enjoy the various technologies 👏👏👏 Thanks for your support and sharing your feedback.. all the best my friend, regards Pete 💙💯 Ps No I didn’t thin any of the paints in the video, I never look to thin woodwork / fine finish paints when airless spraying 👍 Apologies, I hope I covered all your points 🙏

    Hi Pete as usual very informative information and knowledge. I live in the Netherlands and here we have products as sps pu a spray and akzonobel sikkens rubbol rezisto spray. Real high and i mean hiiiigh viscosity materials. Even thicker than renner 765. With great vertical hang. Even with those materials i never get tails with the 210 tip. How is it possible that even the thinner materials like the last one are still giving tails? I have the same problem with some materials here in the Netherlands. Also with some materials i get a cross spray pattern as you almost had with one of the thinner materials. Do you know why that happens? Excuse me for the long message. Keep up the good content!

      Great to hear from you my friend and sharing your experience in the Netherlands 🇳🇱🧡💯 I know what you’re saying, and that’s the kind of scenarios I wanted to share in the filming of the video.. Some products don’t act as you would think - the strange cross / heavy shape down the middle, is something I put down as ‘a paint that doesn’t respond well to airless spraying’.. more pressure and / or a bigger orifice can improve the pattern, but when you compare to other products like you mention, you can’t understand why that happens.. I guess it’s down to the make up, solids, pigment, carrier…

    Hello Pete,
    Of all the paints you've used in this video, which one do you like the most? Another question: I have a cheap Wagner 250R airless sprayer. The tips are 517 and 311. Do you think I could use Aqualit with a 311?
    Thx

    • @PaintHQ
      @PaintHQ  2 месяца назад +1

      Hello my friend.. good question - I’ve been a long time fan of AkzoNobel Aqualit, the tactile finish is silky smooth.. that said, Scuff-X is extremely close and there’s attributes about it I prefer - opacity and vertical hang for example 👌 I’m thinking of a future video that concentrates more on performance of sprayed satin finishes, and include a few other brands.. In this video I wanted to focus more on the viscosity and sprayability of paints, more than the brand / quality 😄 In terms of sprayability, Albany Super Satin, surprised me - for a trade product ‘off the shelf’
      Regarding Aqualit, a 311 would let out too much material, on verticals you would struggle with paint running.. it would be possible to swap out the tip guard to a Graco RAC X 7/8” and use a FFLP 208 or 308 👍
      All the best.. regards Pete 💙💯

    Bit worried about you having the the gun in one hand and your other hand in front of the nozzle - e.g. 15:00, even with the lock on, unless the battery is out.

    Well done Pete
    Good info as I would expect from you..
    I have tried Dulux quick dry satin I must admit I didn't get on with spraying that one.
    What's your thought on msp paint like bedec and zinsser allcoat.
    Allcoat I was spraying yesterday running low pressure.
    I also found allcoat sprays better than brush/roll and also on coverage.
    Thanks again Pete

      Thank you Colin, appreciate your feedback my friend 🙏 Yeah I was trying to focus more on the comparison of paint ‘types’, viscosity and going off first impressions when taking the lid off.. it doesn’t always go as you think 🤔 ..MSP sprays well, but not as well as say Scuff-X, in that comparison I’d chose Scuff-X - even on a primed radiator .. I’m yet to experience Allcoat, but I’ve heard very good feedback from others 👏👏👏 Thanks for sharing, always great to hear from you.. regards Pete 💙💯

      @@PaintHQ Pete another question I have is
      Have you tried the isomat or caparol nast version both pu system..
      What would be your thoughts on those

      @colinstrudwick3185 No problem Colin.. I nearly included Caparol PU-Satin in this video and maybe compared to the NAST version to show the spray ready difference / viscosity / tip selection.. it’s a very good choice - it’s been a while since I’ve sprayed it so I’d need to revisit it 👌 Isomat is one I haven’t tried, again I’ve heard all good things and it’s certainly on my list to give a go sometime.. I’d like to do a video more specifically to performance of these products, durability and I’d like to show how they perform over caulk 😫

      @@PaintHQ id like to see video on those 2 when or if you do get a chance.
      On a caulk topic choice is hard I've started using more hybrid like isomat pu40 instead of conventional acrylic.
      I get better results less paint crackling over it..
      Something to think about..

    You didn’t mention much about the benefit of thinning the product which I’d always do to help, would have been good to see the difference in pattern and pressure then.

      Hello my friend 🙏 That’s a good point, but I don’t thin waterborne woodwork / trim paints.. I only thin (sometimes) emulsion / latex paints, and then only a max 10% 👍 ..What products are you spraying my friend? 💙💯 All the best.. regards Pete

      @@PaintHQ hi Pete, scuffx I spray and thin it, scuffx recommends thinning in general and isomat, isomat recommend thinning 30-40% to spray. Iv sprayed a lot of Zinsser exterior satin inside and bin and always add a drop of water, really helps get a nice pattern. I think I would have thinned all those products in the video a little, other then the azko… I need to try that one day.
