Always a pleasure to watch your videos. My opinion on the gun is that graco has to make an electronic extension (clean shot) I hade the gun in my hands on a demo, and i liked it. But i do not see the benefit if you can not use an extension for spraying whals and sellings.
Thank you, appreciate you watching and the kind words.. it’s a very valid suggestion you make, and something I also made a comment about to Graco Product Marketing (great minds 😄).. I myself being tall, find myself not taking the time to dial in a CleanShot - but there’s a clear advantage to using an extension, even if only a small one.. A CleanShot can be tricky, especially when they get older and ‘seize up’ a bit, the ability to control the end of an extension ‘electronically’ could be very advantageous 👏👏👏 Regards Pete
It looks like the Albany matt was on par with the Benjamin Moore for spray ability pete i use a 6:19 on ceilings also but if im base coating new skim i use it throughout
Hey John, yeah I think Albany Vinyl Matt showed potential, I’d like to give it a run out on a job 👌 Sprayed much better then it’s AF1 ceiling counterpart 👍 I find Benjamin Moore has something about it that makes it extra special - I’ve never used Ben before, but knowing Scuff-X pretty well, I had high hopes as soon as I started stirring it.. I wasn’t disappointed, atomises beautifully 👌 You’re very wise my friend, an LP 619 is a great size tip 💙💯 regards Pete
amazing vid thanks Peter. Bm Ben and Johnstones Durable acrylic are my current favorites for walls and ceilings. I do find in these winter months they do need bringing up to a nice 20-22c however. That's why I wanted to buy the heated hose but got carried away and bought the Ultra instead... now I'm finishing off another refurb with no central heating and remembering... ah well. I'm not a quick sprayer and prefer the lower volumes of the 515 for walls and 617 for ceilings. Thanks for taking the time to do this vid buddy and Happy Christmas to you. I'm now off to roll in my bedroom... with BM Aura eggshell in dragonfly as it goes😊
Hey Matt, yeah I was very impressed with BM Ben, I’ll certainly be looking to use BM more often in future 👌 you’re very wise in your setup, nice and steady with a 515 💙💯 Merry Christmas my friend.. Good luck with BM Aura, I’m sure you’ll do an amazing job 👏👏👏 regards Pete
Hey Pete, Johnson Durable Matt is my goto paint. I always add water, say two full mugs to 5L as I reckon it makes it flow batter even off the brush! I've sprayed the same through a 517 tip successfully too. Thanks for the info in the video fella! And merry Christmas sir. 🙏🏼
Hey buddy, yeah I’ve always been a fan of Johnstones Acrylic Durable Matt, it sprays very well despite its thicker viscosity.. you’re right, it can take a 10% addition of water and can be beneficial to spraying (and a brush).. thanks for your support my friend 🙏 Merry Christmas 💙💯 regards Pete
Hi. Im new to airless sprayers as well as to painting. How do you know when the tips are no good and need to be replaced? I have the graco quickshot. P..s i love how your videos are full of info.
You’re so kind, I appreciate you watching.. good question 👍 what happens as the airless spray tip wears, is the orifice size increases - resulting in more paint being let out (just like going up a tip orifice size).. so you’ll waste more paint 👍 then visually the spray pattern (when you spray a test) will be more narrow, and can look oval Vs a rectangular / letterbox shape 👍 keep in touch.. regards Pete 💙💯
Brilliant Pete as always. Tip size is what i would use for emulsion but i would also use a 4xx size for small and even go up to 7xx for lager commercial jobs. And have used graco 1223 for jetroller. Hose wise i prefer 1/4 inch over 3/16 it allows more better flow which i found wider fan and lower pressure with some latex paints. Paint wise i have noticed more over spray with vinyl based even durable in the past i had it with. Ben Moore looking good though. Have you tried isomat ceiling paint yet ❓ Have a good rest and happy Christmas.
Thank you Colin, your insight and experience is always very helpful.. interesting your preference on hose size - there’s no doubt the engineering / science behind the resistance (and pressure drop) that ‘could’ occur with narrower diameter hoses, especially over longer distances, and / or higher viscosities. I do like the 1223 with a Jet Roller - do you look to spray relatively low pressure?. To eliminate paint bounce back, because tails are not an issue with the paint being captured by the roller 👌Have a wonder Christmas, and enjoy a well deserved break 🎄💙💯 regards Pete
I use the Johnstones a lot these days. I’ve had a graco gx21 for a while now and would like to upgrade. What’s a a good setup to go for? I mostly use my machine for mist coats and finishing ceilings. But I do also finish mdf sometimes
Thanks for your input my friend.. The GX range are solid and versatile units for the P&D market - exactly how you’ve been using yours 👌 I totally get how you may want to treat yourself to a next step up.. Classic.. ST Max II.. or an Ultra XT like mine.. As you mention for fine finish mdf spraying, you may simply benefit from adding a hopper and fine finishing kit to your GX21 - so a hopper and smaller 3/16” 7.5m hose would enable spraying small quantities of fine finish materials a lot easier 👍 Maybe a new gun, such as a Compact PC, or even the Contractor PowerShot Standard.. lots of options to cover your expanding requirements, with various price points 🤔 ..Could I suggest you speak to Mike at SpraymanUK, the team there could discuss and go through your requirements.. I’m also happy to help further any way I can.. Merry Christmas, regards Pete 💙💯
That’s a good point, yes there’s no doubt heating the material lowers the viscosity, thus lowering the pressure and improving sprayability with less overspray 👍 The Graco range of heated hoses are “C Max” 👌💙💯
Thanks for sharing your feedback, I hear what you’re saying.. I have put a light smear of petroleum jelly round the thread as a preventative measure 👍 Regards Pete 💙💯
@@PaintHQ same here but WHY does it corrode so easily in that very spot!? Why does t have to be chrome-plated just to peel off so easily? Why can't Graco make it of the same material as the manifold bottle? I know we are supposed to squeak clean it every time but the reality is different on the ground!
I do understand your point and I can vouch Graco takes customer feedback extremely seriously.. I will share your findings and experience 🫡 👏👏👏 Regards Pete 💙💯
Late to the party regards comment and support that football club of mine has had me up nights brother but super thanks for you my friend a small token of gratitude for your friendship and support ❤️

Do you know by any chance how much the replacement pumps are? I've been searching everywhere, and I can't find a price
Happy to help if I can.. Do you mean a Pro Connect replacement pump for the Ultra 495 XT, so it’s an Endurance Vortex piston pump ? Regards Pete
I wonder if paint heating might improve sprayability but I've not seen any Graco heated hoses for ths class of paints.
That’s a good point, yes there’s no doubt heating the material lowers the viscosity, thus lowering the pressure and improving sprayability with less overspray 👍 The Graco range of heated hoses are “C Max” 👌💙💯
@@PaintHQ Thanks Pete, now I need a new maxpac of tissues; my eyes keep watering having seen the pricetag...😭

Maybe unecessarly but I am so 'pssssd off' by the corrosion on the manifold filter core thread. I see you have that already on your fairly new pump.
