- I recently paid a visit to the Mariners Church In Huntington Beach to capture some images & video from the sidewalk. I did have a few encounters at this location, 1 guy asked if we wanted to come listen to the pastor preach. Another guy met us just next to the sidewalk telling me to shut down my camera, then a short time later we were met by center security who was telling us it was common courtesy not to take their pictures.

I might be in a foul mood today, but I'm so sick of seeing people trying to CONTROL other people!! It's every day. Stand here, walk here, DON'T walk there. What happen to seeing someone on the sidewalk, or in the store and just smile and say HI? I know I'm NOT more important the guy next to me! Stay safe out there!

going into a doctor's office for an appointment or blood work The people behind the counter think they're there to boss you around and you're not a customer.
These same people who supposedly worship Jesus and preach about "change", and yet they try to shutdown and control others when their ego is damaged. Do you think Jesus would be running outside to yell at these auditors, or would he approach them with bread and invite them inside to see his house?
The level of misplaced, dillusional self righteousness some people suffer from is astounding. A confidence leveling slap in the face is what many of them need. Or serve some time in jail just for being that ignorant.

In a town like Beaumont that's how I would expect a church and it's members would act. My experience has been that the bigger the city the less religious the church leadership and congregation become.
Not very neighbourly and a long ways off from being a good decent Christian.

As a Christian myself, I am grateful for my country granting me the right to worship in any manner I see fit! The 1st Amendment, which grants us religious freedom, ALSO gives us freedom of the press!!! Come on people, educate yourself in the BEAUTIFUL rights of our country!!! So many men fought and died for these freedoms. They're our God-given rights ...EVERY LAST ONE OF THEM!

I have just as much of a right to not believe...and while many believers like to force/or convert others to those beliefs...again I have just as much right to deny , argue against ( respectively of course ) or flat out mock them if you disrespect me over my no belief...see that is what a free , secular country like ours provide...ill stand for your right to your belief...but will now bow , submit or go out of my way..in anyway in you trying to enforce those on anyone...I will not bow my head , remain quiet , or stand during a prayer...I will not incovience myself so you can exercise your religion nor will I intentionally try to prevent it...I'll respect your belief exactly as much or little as you respect my 🤨

Let's talk about Freedom and Constitutional Rights. Let's make a comparison between the behavior of a US citizen and a Chinese citizen. Okay? In China, more than a billion human beings live together. Some cities are overcrowded and yet there, chaos does not exist; all behave in an orderly manner, as public discipline is a valuable social virtue that is taught in schools. In the US, the INDIVIDUAL is privileged over society and the result, is conflict, aggression, stress and everyday problems. People in the US have many Rights, but few obligations. In China, GROUP Rights are privileged without paying much attention to personal Rights. In the US, IF an individual has a "Right" he goes over the group, and they call to that FREEDOM! And it is in this Freedom and Rights that the Civil Courts have to deal with thousands of lawsuits of all kinds. Here, the individual has a Right, and if HIS Rights are violated, he demands and is compensated. This in China is unthinkable, given that a chinese citizen would not even dare to upload their music, so as not to annoy the GROUP. In US the all system is collapsing under the weight of "My Freedom”. Yes, filming another person is NOT a crime, and anyone has the Right to videotape what they want in public places. But, for the Chinese it is uncomprehensible to DISTURB another person, just cuz someone have the "Right" to do so. Yup. Only in America...! Where the word COURTESY should have more value than Constitutional Rights. (He is just a Clown with a camera trying to get UTube money, cuz he has no job). LOL

doesnt really help when the camera man comes off as immediately irritable, uppity, and snide. He has full right to record these people, yes, but he intentionally speaks in a way to agitate and evoke an emotional response from random people who he DOES NOT know. camerman's just as shite as the people he supposedly auditing.
I've watched many of these videos and the 'auditors', this one in particular, simply return the same 'energy' that they receive. There are plenty of examples where a cordial and friendly discussion ensue, if the person approaching does so without being combative or authoratitive. In this instance, the chap approaches, waving his hands and demanding "put down the camera" - and so the energy returned is the same.@@keemkorn
@@misterchippie that is fair. I feel like in this case though, the cameraman shouldn’t take the fire vs fire approach. It doesn’t have to be that way; it honestly makes the situation worse. We need to acknowledge that these random bystanders are on a whole different plane of contextual understanding compared to the dude recording (as well as us, the viewers), so it’s not fair for us to expect these people to come bouncing up with a smile on their face, ya feel?
@@keemkorn Sure, I get where you're coming from - there's always two sides to a story right! Often it's about education, as you say, if this is a "first encounter", people don't really know how to approach it - maybe the outcome of a potentially argumentative first-contact, is that the next time someone appears on the sidewalk with a camera, they'll have some personal context, a little more awareness of freedoms around the First Amendment, and things might go differently. Maybe... but also, confrontation = views, clicks and comments = successful channel, so there's always that motivation for things to "get spicy" too...

You're not hiding, you're standing in public, a smile, wave and a "have a nice day" should be sufficient.
They don't *need* to do anything. But filming random people and then refusing to be polite and not film them when asked is a choice which could potentially elicit a confrontational response. And auditors are BANKING on that to be the case. The point of this video and thousands of others is to film with the express intent of creating concern and confrontation for footage where you can point and laugh at the befuddled and frustrated persons who can't understand why you insist on being rude.
@@OlYables That is incorrect, it's not meant to be confrontational and I didn't see anyone rude other than the Pastor and the security. Come up to someone filming, telling them to turn it off, then lying about where public property is, is very rude.
If this happens at my church, they will ask what you are doing, invite you inside, probably get you a cup of coffee and go about their day.

Auditors are hoping that people will feel uncomfortable and confront them. Why would any decent person go out of their way to irritate or frighten their fellow citizens?

The Mariners church didn’t do to well on this first amendment audit, don’t know why the cameras from the sidewalk would trigger that kind of response! Church guy seemed especially irritated by the camera and for him to not know people’s rights that are on the sidewalk is a little odd ! So When church guy representing the church comes out talking like that and not knowing what he is talking about is definitely a bad look !
The church is a private entity, they have no obligation to "respect your first amendment rights" so "auditing" them is moronic in the first place. Religion is also protected under the constitution, FYI. It's your right to film, it's their right to tell you to buzz off and stop filming kids.
The guy filming is a private individual exercising his rights in public. They can ask the auditors to leave but that’s where it ends.
Kids don’t have special privileges either.. cameras don’t steal souls.

No church is "private property" since they don't pay taxes; they're subsidized by the community and therefore is (or should be) public.

I'm a Christian but in all my years of worshiping I've never known this type of behavior to be Christian at all.
I truly believe that my God expects each person to treat one another with love and respect. Otherwise you really are not setting an example of God's love.
This is exactly why now I worship in my own home. No on we telling me how or where to practice my faith. I really don't remember Christ being so nosey or bossy. It simply is not God's way.

Normally I'd get paid, but if you want to pay me to not film, I'll do that and not come here to film you for 1 year. Cost would be about, oh, $1500 or so. So where do I send the bill? Or are you going to just let me keep filming so I can finish my work? I'm not going to loose money just because you say so".

I've been to many churches and only once at a funeral did I hear the word from a man who truly understood what he was conveying.
He got it and was sharing himself not just a empty voice, he did it with a voice from God.

It's funny how people ignore the thousands of cctv cameras in modern cities, but get upset when one individual carries a camera and records openly.

I grew up in the 60s and 70s in Huntington Beach. I haven't been back there for 40 yrs. If you wouldn't have told us it was HB, I wouldn't have recognized it. That area used to be small restaurants, cafes, bars and surf shops. Great friendly community. Now its high rises and assholes.

I don't know how many pictures and videos I've taken, my family has taken, or I've seen other people take while attending church over the years. My question when I see these interactions on RUclips is when is this policy enforced? Is it for church members as well, or is it only for people they don't know?
