- We were recently in Santa Ana, Ca. documenting from the public sidewalk just before the 9am Sunday service began. Shortly after we arrived on scene, an individual who later introduced himself as Mike, began preaching his gospel to us on the sidewalk maybe as a deterrent to get us to leave. A while later another individual approached us on the sidewalk expressing his discomfort with our recording because his kids were outside in the vicinity , We offered to him the talking point we carry with us about public photography & he declined. A short time later he approached us once again to inform us that he had placed a call for police due to his discomfort of our cameras. Police arrived on scene to explain to the individual who called for service, that we were within our legal right to record & document from the public sidewalk.

They concentrated too much on religion rather than learning common sense.
The logic only works when it happens to go their way. Reminds me of when My child's preschool teacher (private church school) said she "required" the class to attend a funeral of a church member and sing at the service. I objected and in meeting with teacher and pastor, and was quickly talked over, scolded and told death is a reality of life and there is no point in shielding children from it.
I replied to the teacher (who had a striking resemblance to Church Lady from the old SNL) that at one point she has taught a girl in her class that has grown up, strayed from the church and worked as a stripper on a pole.
Since there is no point shielding children from this can we get this field trip booked now? 😏

The way he tactically “preaches the word of God” to try to deflect, distract, and dissuade you instead of genuinely wanting to interact with you is very telling of his true intentions not only in this moment but whenever he’s preaching.

I’ve always found it strange how a non tax paying organization always thinks that they have the right to tell tax paying citizens how they should live their lives. Especially when those citizens aren’t breaking the law.
Actually churches aren't exempt from taxes. In the Bible Jesus says that churches are to pay taxes. He said render unto God the things that belong to God & render unto Ceaser the things that belong to Ceaser.
According to THE LAW, churches are, in fact, tax exempt. They shouldn’t be, but they are.
He has the right to do that if he wants.......you don't have to listen.
I’m presuming that you’re referring to the street preacher. You’re absolutely right. He does have the right to walk the sidewalk to preach. HOWEVER, he does NOT have the right to intentionally block their camera views in the process, which is exactly what he was doing.

Out of the entire bizarre interaction there was only 1 guy that was cordial and asked if you’d like to come in to worship and when you declined he graciously walked away. So, one lone guy extended an invite without asking what you were doing. That speaks volumes and Preacher Mike was just an embarrassment and his only interest was to prevent you from filming, he didn’t care about your “soul”. He was just an ass. Their feelings are hurt and the conversation starts out in a negative way every time. Long Island Audit says de-escalation is the right way to start. I've commented on FAR videos before that I am a church going Christian because it's true. That said, I can't fathom how these many different churches don't or can't understand that when you are exercising and protecting your first amendment right of freedom of the press, you are also protecting my first amendment right of freedom of religion. Not all practicing Christians are what I call a "Monday man." A Monday man is someone who is a Christian on Sunday but on Monday, he reverts back to his normal self. Great work ladies. I find these church audits interesting. We have people stop by often and film, we invite people to do their thing. We are also a polling location, and when that goes on, all outside doors are open from 6am until all
ballots are counted with total access to the voting/counting area. If somebody came to me and said there is somebody filming my response would be, "oh good, why do you see if they would like a cup of coffee."

Preachers like this are confrontational. They are not out to preach the gospel, they are out to prove someone wrong. And what that does is it drives people away from wanting to know more. You can tell by his tone that he is frustrated. And that it's exactly what Jesus says not to do. He says preach, and if they don't accept it, kick the dust off your sandals and move on to the next person.

Actually the Bible states Jesus was born at the time of the tax census in that Roman province. Which was NOT December but after the time of harvest around the first week of October. Thus you are correct in that Christians celebrate the pagan "holy day" of the Winter Solstice. Probably based on the Celtic/Druidic religion. Or, possibly the Germanic barbarian tribes from the shores of the Baltic Sea.
Don't forget about Easter- the pagan ritual of Astarte. Christians have simply plagiarized pagan celebrations and repackaged them as "Christian."
Christmas is the Roman Festival of Saturnalia (Winter Solstice). The Nordic Yule tradition actually derived from the Greek Geole or Talmudic Jubilee, the freeing of a slave after 7 years (sorta like conscription for slaves). It’s a homecoming celebration. We light the tree to show our loved ones the way home. Santa Claus comes from the Saint Nicklaus mythology and is a later adaptation. The modern “Jesus” Christmas tradition originated in the late 1800’s and really ramped up in the 1920’s to promote commerce and stimulate the economy. And has no historical relevance.

@DrZook Actually it doesn’t. The point is they were told to obey God. At that point God had given them everything they needed. He told them what they needed to know and they were told not to eat of the tree of knowledge. They were to simply obey God, as we are to do today.

All this is from God, who reconciled us to himself through Christ and gave us the ministry of reconciliation: that God was reconciling the world to himself in Christ, not counting people's sins against them. And he has committed to us the message of reconciliation 2 Corinthians 5:18-19 When Jesus died on the cross, he took on sin. Then was resurrected. The whole point is how to reconcile people to a holy God. We people have rebelled against God. He is just and Holy and through Christ we become sons and daughters of God.
