I think the friend meant that having a safety drill is normal and practicing what to do in these situations, it never occurred that this was the real deal and that they would be faced with such tragedy.

It is really something when an 8-year-old girl has more courage than a grown man sworn to protect his community from harm. The hardest part though is knowing that American's are not yet ready to hold those with power accountable. These deaths not only were senseless but have no meaning. Trust me on what I'm saying because I'm in Uvalde and I've witnessed first hand at how everything is playing out.
Sunday night I was surrounded, jumped, accosted, and handcuffed by 4 of Uvalde's finest law enforcement officers.
The reason was that I didn't have lights on my bicycle (Texas law) an when I turned away from the bright lights from their patrol vehicle while standing they used that as me trying to flee.
The reason I mentioned this is because as torn apart and hurting very deeply as this town is apparently riding a bicycle at night without lights takes top priority above all other law enforcement duties.
That there should show you how our government thinks as a whole.

What a nightmare. I lost my best friend to a drunk driver when I was 8 and it still haunts me decades later. To go through something this horrific and witness it. That poor child. All of those poor kids. My heart goes out to them.

Yeah, we always think of all the kids that passed and all the families of the kids that died, but we don't always think of the survivors that lived through this nightmare. Although it is wonderful that they lived and have a chance to grow up. These kids will have a lot of pain in their life cause they will never forget what happened and the people that they saw & knew get blown away right in front of them. Look at what soldiers deal with when coming back from war. This is even worse cause they are children that don't have fully developed minds yet. This will haunt them for the rest of their lives. I hope their parents get them all the help they need so it doesn't catch up to them as they become teens are young adults.

Chloe was the one who told Amerie's dad that she was dead. He talked about her to Anderson Cooper.
It is right, Will. And watching Amerie's dad giving that sad testimony to the reporter has been the most heartbreaking 💔 scene resulting from tragedy. My prayers and deepest condolences for all the families from Uvalde whose babies were killed and for their teachers' families as well.

I was just saying to my mom the same thing. When I was in school we never even thought about this. Even in high school we never had drills like this (and this was 15 years after Columbine). Yeah. I agree. She will need to have therapy for a while. Even after she goes through therapy, she might still never be the same. I was in a car crash. I broke my neck, was "paralyzed" from the waist down. I had to learn how to move my neck and walk again. I still have severe PTSD to this day from that experience. I had to have p.t as well as having counselor help for almost 20 years!

This is so sad and so scary. I'm currently a senior in high school, I graduate next week, but knowing how many lock downs I've been in due to threats and shooting near by is so sad. Exactly a week ago today my school was on lockdown due to a gun man running onto campus and threatening to open fire on us. As a freshman 1st day of finals we were in a lockdown due to a shooting near by and the gunman running in our direction. It's devistating and disappointing to know how common this is but how lucky I am to have even made it this far with just threats. We will be remembering victims for sure, especially as we have lost students to gun violence before

When I was in high school, I remembered being shocked and scared to go to school because of what happened at Parkland, especially it’s less than an hour from where I lived.

My heart breaks for every single one of the victim's AND the survivor's families. I have no idea how much I've cried seeing videos, content, pictures etc. related to this horrible, senseless action. The thought that this specific little girl was once covered in her best friend's blood and literally watched her best friend suffer is unimaginable. I can't imagine the unbearable pain. The wave to Amerie's memorial and picture broke my heart, she knows Amerie is there, just as a beautiful, guardian angel. Forever, 10 years old. Too young, too sweet. Flying High In Sky, Amerie Jo remains resting in peace. I hope God blesses every family having to endure any pain from this and I hope they find comfort thinking of all the great memories they had with the victims.

Officials said eight 911 calls were made but refuse to release the names of the 2 children who made them. According to previous reports, seven of the 911 calls were made by the same child in 112 and one call came from a child in 111. Khloe recounts that Amerie was shot as she was calling 911 and hiding with Khloe. Thus, we now know that the child who called 911 in room 111 (which is where Khloe Torres was with her friend Amerie) was Amerie, and that she was shot as a result of doing so. This poor child is gone due to the police who stood in the hallway as she called for their help. She was calling for the police, whole time they were standing outside the door and failed to respond. These deaths could've been prevented. God give these parents strength.

This shooter destroyed the lives of not only the children and the teachers killed as well as the husband who died from a heart attack, but also the rest of the staff and children who survived. Be active and demand that our "officials" do more than band aid approaches and political speeches for votes. We need secure safe school buildings and grounds. We need investigations and research into ALL the reasons for this violence. And laws that make recognition of people with problems are not ignored. Banning guns will NOT stop violence. Everybody is offering something for the victims of the massacre some offers money, others prayers, others flowers others caskets, others had to go to Uvalde to pay their respect walking and waiting for hours while their chief of School police refuse to cooperate for the inquiry by the DOJ what an insult to the families of the victims. At least what a noble thing he can do is to resign to help the invistigation go smoothly in stead he refuse to cooperate and remain in his position as chief of school police, and now accepted by the mayor of Uvalde as a member of a city council and hiding … desregarding the oath he took to defend and protect these children, what an attitude of a human person. He should be prosecuted and all the people who are protecting him…

Salvador Ramos was sadistic enough, to leave few survivors with the pure intent that they’d be traumatized by this situation for the rest of their lives. I wish the authorities would have acted sooner .
After losing a son who was murdered, every time I see news about this shooting I cry. Especially for the four children that lost not only their mom but then their dad as well. If you have never thought that a broken heart was not a real thing it is real. Medical science recognize that. My prayer is for all of these families that have lost children that have lost parents it is such a tragedy. I just wonder when our government is going to wake up or if they ever will. I pray comfort peace and courage for all those who have lost someone that they love.
It' so sad that there are bad people out there. It's sad that there are people who are unkind or not nice out there. The shooter took away lives of innocent teachers and children. It's just so miserable that theses people died.
imagine a little girl experiencing something like this and losing her best friend, something so traumatic, I can't help but cry, because sometimes life is not fair, but I know these kids and the teachers are in a good place

I live nearby and have cried my heart out everyday. All I can do is vote in November. Feel so helpless and like we let these kids down.
