He was doing the best he could, and nobody could be more shocked and less prepared between the moments of gunfire sounding out and the gunman being in the same room. Please, have some dignity, have some sympathy- just be a human being and pay your respects, the damage is done and the blame rests with the police, the shooter, and the people who refuse to listen to the story that’s been escalating since Columbine. The blood is on their hands as much as the shooter's. They could've saved lives that day. They arrived fairly early. The gunshots were still ringing out as officers entered the building and approached the classroom before immediately fleeing down the hall. Every child and teacher dead, family shattered, parent and staff member detained and threatened with a taser when they tried to go in because the cops refused to do something, and the survivor, Mr. Reyes, shouldering this grief that will follow him for the rest of his life-that's on their heads. The shooter is dead, so the only ones left to blame at this point are the police. I want to believe the guilt of their failure will rot them from the inside-out, but you have to be rotten to allow such a tragedy to persist in the first place.

“The first “police badges” were the coat of arms worn by knights. The coat of arms identified the knight and his allegiance to justice, chivalry, and his royal leaders by on his shield. Police Officers swear to protect and serve, the same as knights from the medieval era were often sworn in and asked to “Protect the weak, defenseless, helpless, and fight for the general welfare of all.”
Before any officer takes the Law Enforcement Oath of Honor, it is important he or she understands what it means. An oath is a solemn pledge someone makes when they sincerely intend to do what they say:
      Honor...
means that one's word is given as a guarantee.
      Betray...
is defined as breaking faith with the public trust.
      Badge...
is the symbol of your office.
      Integrity...
is being the same person in both private and public life.
      Character...
means the qualities that distinguish an individual.
      Public Trust...
is a charge of duty imposed in faith toward those you serve.
      Courage...
is having the strength to withstand unethical pressure, fear or danger.
      Accountability...
means that you are answerable and responsible to your oath of office.
      Community...
is the jurisdiction and citizens served.”
By the way that’s from a police website it’s the first one on google to show up when you look up that phrase. That took me less than five seconds so do you mind explaining to me what you think it means? With sources please

Grieving parents can be cruel sometimes. They want to unleash their anger and frustration at someone, and if that person is dead (the killer), then they turn to the person responsible for their kid’s welfare. It’s not his fault, he was a victim too ):

As a 20 year veteran of Armed Forces, I know i signed up to protect and defend the constitution of the USA. Law Enforcement to protect and serve, and know full well you might have to give your own life one day to do so. This is a bunch of cowards who did not uphold their oath. Who did not put that oath before their own personal safety. Soldiers gave their lives to protect people of the USA that weren't in immediate danger. Think about it, these police won't do the same for people who are in immediate danger. And Children for God's sakes. And at the most innocent ages! Grown men scared to do the job they signed up to do to save children. Its sad, disgusting, disgrace to anyone who has ever served either military or law enforcement. Theres people in it for a check, and there's people out there trying to save lives.

Research how many other school shooters police were ordered to stand down at, like all of them.

As a teacher, having to do ALICE trainings to prepare for this kind of event, there is still the randomness of where the shooter first gets in the building. If a teacher is lucky enough to be at the far end of the building, they MAY be able to barricade or evacuate but there’s no guarantee it will be in time. If you are unlucky, and the shooter gets into your room, there is not much hope. This teacher did the VERY BEST HE COULD! Bless his heart and of course, the children, the families and everyone else who is suffering through this tragedy.
