Angeli Gomez says she's been threatened with arrest for running into the school while a shooter killed children and teachers. She wanted to save her sons.
It’s been six weeks since the shooting at Robb Elementary in Uvalde. Hundreds of people still gather at the school to remember the 21 innocent lives lost. It’s where Angeli Gomez made a split-second decision to save her kids from a gunman.
A decision she says has led to harassment and threats by Uvalde Police.
She was hysterical when she arrived and wanted to go in immediately but she says was ordered by an officer to get back.
”He says, 'you are very close' and I said 'I don’t need you to protect me. I don’t need your protection, what you need to do is go and protect my kids who are in there,'” said Gomez.
She says she could hear the children and the gunman.
”I just kept hearing the gunfire and it kept going and you could hear the kids screaming from the cafeteria. Kids screaming in the classrooms,” said Gomez.

If I were to be a bit nitpicky, these genderized character traits exist for a reason. Men have at least 10× more testosterone than women. Which can have anti-anxiety/impulsive effects. Confrontation is more common with men, u don't see women getting in fights.

learn what racism is before you start throwing it around. there are many articles that said she lied one from the uvalde news paper. who kids were saved by their teachers. she picked them up from the civic center where they were safe, and took them back to the school to film this.

I didn't know she saved an entire class along with her sons. She saved so many lives she deserves so much better.

I see this video and I start to cry. I can’t imagine what those kids went through. I can’t imagine the fear and the terror they felt. As a mom you want your kids safe no matter what, and she truly showed that she would do anything and everything to prove that point.

I can’t even fathom the utter RELIEF and GRATITUDE these boys felt to see their mom bust through the school and save them. You go, mom.
seriously, as a kid being in a dangerous situation, no better feeling than seing your parent coming to get you out.
I guarantee you that those are two children who will NEVER question, even for a moment, whether or not they are truly loved nor whether their parent will be there when they most need her to be. That fact alone will go a very long ways to helping her two children work past their grief and trauma, though they will always be haunted by the unfortunate loss of their peers (and two teachers) and that their sense of safety has been proven an illusion. That so many parents that day showed far more courage than dozens of armed officers and were prepared to charge into the building to rescue their children without concern for their own well-being strongly suggests a lot of very well loved children. The only persons who showed actual courage that day were the children, their teachers, and the many parents…none of whom were armed or equipped with body armor or ballistic shields.

In a situation where police, who have guns, military equipment and training, who are on scene, are more concerned about keeping parents desperately trying to plead with them to help away from their kids who are near to being shot at if not already laying cold and dead on the ground inside than attempting to apprehend the person who is actively shooting children dead in the building they are standing directly across from. This mother, who already after being cuffed for being too distraught that her children were in danger of being murdered as a result of these officers refusing to do anything, jumped the fence and got her children out of there.
It's more heroic than anything any of those corrupt officers would have ever willingly done.
If you had seen the official reports, even an officer on scene was trying to get in there to help and was held back by his own corrupt police department. Even the experts have looked at this case and called the actions of this department appalling.
We know this because it was all recorded. We know this because this is what multiple people have corroborated. We know this because it's exactly what was written in official reports and accounts of what happened. We know this because the police and other high up officials themselves have said this.

If I don't believe a caregiver would throw themselves in front of a bus to protect him- I won't leave my son with him. If you are only there for a paycheck, you are worthless. The sound of those mothers screaming while Uvalde cops arrested them for trying to get to their kids, is the most dreadful sound I have ever heard. Those cops should be fired for cowardice and charged themselves for harassing a mother who embarrassed them with her courage.

She didn't save them she recovered them. Saving is actually saving this was just I'ma retrieve my kids from a safe space and rism them dying to put them in another safe space. The school building is brick concrete and thick steel doors. No handgun can shoot through that so obviously their kids being in a classroom with the door locked is much safer than going in the hallways. But sure it's so dangerous as if schools aren't built with these things in mind

I like how she fooled the cops into unhandcuffing her. THEN. She made her move. This woman is skilled at survival, and I know of people, who make fun of others who consciously hone their survival instincts, but this is a clear example of how being on the razor's edge, in life, can make you empowered in a situation, that left every professional, who was supposed to do what she did, feeling broken, humiliated and defeated. Cops need to learn from this woman and stop the harassment.
