Ramos had stopped shooting after the rounds through the door that sent the approaching officers away from the door. He was obviously fixated on the door which he had in his sights. Arredondo was, I think the one who said we're getting the rest out first, meaning the children were being extracted while they held Ramos attention and kept him from coming out shooting.
He wanted to get the other children out of the building before they tried again to charge Ramos setting off a hail of bullets through the school full of children.
After firing through the door as the first officers approached, the only other time I know of Ramos shooting during their wait was when he caught the young girl making the phone call. If there were still living children in the room with Ramos, the police would have been shooting into their room without knowing where Ramos was or where the children were possibly resulting in the deaths of any children still alive
During the time Arredondo and the LEOs in the hall kept Ramos' attention glued to the door, others were breaking out windows and pulling children out of the school.
If the men in the hall had tried charging in they could have all been killed and Ramos could have turned his attention to other rooms and children.
I think their actions, or inaction if you wish, saved lives.
I get the feeling that too many people wanted to see a repeat of the "Charge of the Light Brigade" which would have resulted in many more deaths and maimings.

This is a DISGRACE. Can you imagine how the children were feeling? We are all taught to trust the police and that they will ride in and save the day. That didn't happen. Those kids died waiting to be rescued-- waiting for the Calvary to come and they were cowering outside the door. Those children believed up until the time they drew their last breath that the police would save the day. This haunts me. I wonder what went through their minds as they watched their classmates being slaughtered. 117 minutes, 400 members of law enforcement on site and 19 children end up dead? I don't know how those cowardly cops sleep at night. Nothing they do or say in the after-action report and investigation will bring those children and their teachers back. WHAT A NATIONAL EMBARRASSMENT.

No excuse for this. Total incompetence and Cowardice costing 21 lives. 2 Teachers were brutally murdered and 19 Children. The terror those poor kids must have felt in their final moments alive must have been horrific. I feel so sorry for them that they had to suffer like that.

First examine the Robb Elementary hallway footage for the day of the Uvalde event. This was the video released to the public by the Austin American Statesman and KVUE 12. Go to about the 7:05 mark of the video (11:35:05 time mark for the time of the day) and watch for the next 5 seconds. This is a few minutes after "Salvador Ramos" has entered the school and gone into the classrooms. Watch near the top of the screen. Where does the shot emanate? Notice the delay between the sound of the shot and the puff from the door/wall. The door is to a janitor closet that has no access to the adjacent classroom (room 112). Puzzled yet?
Now examine the footage for officer Justin Mendoza's bodycam. Go to about 48:00 mark (12:21:00 on his bodycam) and watch for the next couple minutes. Why is there no visible damage to the door or the surrounding wall? Another good view of the door is at the 52:29 mark and a really good one at 55:22. Later, in an exchange with game warden Gazaway (12:29:56-59), Mendoza says that the door is to the janitor's closet. This is verified by the floor plan released by the Texas House investigation. Around 12:32:26 (body cam), Mendoza alerts fellow officers that he has a hot mic.
    Investigators, please investigate.

It’s not really solving the issue, it’s just making it seem like everything will be fine at that point or make it seem like it will work. Teachers shouldn’t need to have that responsibility. For crust sake, some teachers just had the heart to teach us dumb kids, and shape us to the people we are today, mostly. They shouldn’t have that responsibility because all they ever wanted to do was to grow up and just teach students. That’s it. Not tell them what to do in case this happens. It shouldn’t be necessary because things like this should never happen. But sadly they do. And don’t blame violent video games. Blame the parents. Even IF video games are the problem. How come it goes into the hands of children? Even IF the child bought it without the parents knowing, well that is just lack of parent-ship.

    • @darkcloud91

Teachers didn't become teachers so that they could be armed like police officers. People said, "well they'll keep it locked!" You just need 1 tired, overworked, burnt out teacher running out of the classroom to go do a duty that was thrown to them that morning and consequently forgetting the key for someone to gain access.
"They'll keep it concealed!" All you need is a whisper that you're carrying and you're a target for that high schooler to surprise and overpower you to gain control.
I know some teachers are willing to be armed but you're literally setting yourself up to get shot by police officers once they enter the building. Information is at best spotty and with the chaos, police aren't going to politely ask if you're the shooter or not. They're supposed to go in and eliminate the person/people with the gun.
Teachers did not go to college, do teacher prep, student teach and become teachers so that they can take over police work at schools. They did not sign up to have to go to work and wonder if that would be the last time they or their students will see their loved ones. They did not sign up to make mental plans of how/where to evacuate when there's an active shooter, what furniture to use to block the doors/hallway windows if they couldn't make it out of the school, or what supplies could be used as weapons if the shooter where to make it through the barricaded door. Teachers did not sign up to take a bullet and die or what their students die. All we want to do is teach and make it home to our loved ones.
I don't know what needs to be done; whether it's having the district police department having an officer stationed at every school, metal detectors, reinforced exits, firing everyone involved that day. It was a massive failure of the police department for not following protocol. Ok they thought it was a hostage situation. But less than 1 minute in that hallway and they should have known from the gunshots coming from that classroom that it was not a hostage situation. They knew it was an active shooter and protocol is to barge in and eliminate the threat, even at the expense of their safey/life.

And just to be clear I am in no place to criticize any parent out there, because I have no clue whatsoever what it is like to be a parent or even have that responsibility. But if video games IS in fact the problem along with movies and all, how did those things get in the hands of the child? Either the child bought it without the parents knowing, their parents bought it with no consideration whatsoever, given to by a friend(which means the parents don’t care what affiliations their child has with others), or the child stole it. All of the four are bad. I’m not saying parents should be there 24/7, 365/12 for their child because it has to be exhausting and all with whatever they themselves have to go through, but I hope you get my point too.

@@isaaccueva5814 oh I understand. I sympathize with parents nowadays. Many are working long hours for crappy pay and come home exhausted. But....they made the choice to have a child and part of raising a child is taking responsibility for what their exposed to. I don't think video games is the biggest reason of violence that people are making it out to be. I honestly think its lower down the list compared to the other factors (gun laws, access to mental health and healthcare to address behavioral/mental issues early on, the ideologies of the parents and how they raise their child, how secure and loving the home environment is, uncontrolled access to the internet, etc). But there is something to be said about all the elementary school sounding kids that you hear on the mic on gta being exposed to all the racist, homophobic, nasty shit that the adults spew because they're trying to be "edgy". And that exposure is on the parent, like you said. They need to know what they're child is playing, who they're playing with, amd what language and topics they are being exposed if it's an online game so that they can have those conversations when the kid inevitably comes across something too grownup). Sometimes it's all too easy to just let the kid do whatever as long as they re occupied, quiet, and not bothering parents. When parents aren't actively involved in raising their kids, there will come a point when they won't know they're child anymore. They won't know if Johnny Q is watching gore videos, shooting videos, getting into radicalized ideology, etc.
As you can see from these long rants, I am frustrated with this as a teacher living in Texas.

It is so sad that the police waited for more than a hour to go inside when there was one of him and 100+ of them, there were kids bleeding out and also kids pretending to be dead next to dead body's. It is truly hart wrenching that they didn't do anything for that long.

Cop's have really shown their true colors. I live in Tucson AZ Where cop's either won't show up when called or will take hour's to respond. They don't even use turn signals anymore, there just bad examples for public safety and act like a bunch of keystone cop's of Old.

      A national embarrassment….
As an Army Combat Veteran (11-c), I am truly disgusted with the rank cowardice I see in the video (soldiers would not be allowed to act this way in combat; huge double standard in our society) and I am deeply disturbed by how far American police will go to cover up these “back the blue” type of crimes; the cops have tried to lie since day one, and are actively in the comments trying to convince you not to believe your own eyes.
If American police are NOT ashamed of these videos, why did they need to be leaked by the press two months after the event? If these are sound tactics, why hide it?

Don't take this the wrong way but this propaganda was a show to push more lethal enforcement on you. They convinced you police are cowards and that a border patrol agent was who stopped the shooter.

Seeing this and knowing that just recently, a 22 year old stopped a mass shooting from getting worse really pisses me off...

And they're still not getting answers. These poor families are suffering still and they have not received the justice that they deserve. All of this was ridiculous. These kids and these teachers should have never went through that
