Unfortunately in a lot of American public schools kids are pretty desensitized to this kind of thing, they were obviously decently frightened and in a more initial and silent state of shock, but when I was still in public school, in a very small low crime area, in a small little town in Indiana, we got days off every now and then because of bomb/shooting threats. There were also a decent amount of fights between students I’d say every month or two. We also did shooting drills a lot and knew of students and classmates that had weapons and posted photos of them online or sent pictures of them too friends and we’re definitely capable of doing something like that. Just based on hearing you would think it was in a big city, high crime, rough area, but again this was in a suburban little town in Indiana with the town right next to it being ranked one of the safest in the entire country. Whenever that stuff would happen it would be scary for a minute and yea you’d be on edge, a couple kids wouldn’t come to school, but we’d move on, and it often got to the point where kids would celebrate when we’d get days off bc of bomb/shooting threats. We become so desensitized to the idea of it happening to where a lot American students don’t really react to it unless they hear repeated shots and see blood. It’s very sad but unfortunately very true. It becomes almost like a tornado warning, you know in a lot of places you get them all the time and you go to your safe zone and it passes and then you go home, reality doesn’t really set in until you start hearing screams and see the roof coming off your classroom. You're saying he got all geared up, shot at a door, dropped his gun and walked into a classroom and started talking like an extremely well-behaved person to the cop. WTF
He was obviously not in the correct state of mind when he entered the school, as any school shooter would, and after firing once and hearing the screams of the injured student he snapped out of it and realised the bullshit he was about to do. So he dropped his guns and surrendered himself to a teacher.

Someone posted that he "even warned them that there might be other shooters," which is probably why he stopped so soon because he could hear that he was the only one out there shooting. He didn't have an epiphany that made him realize his wrongs. He just realized that his online buddies didn't show up to join him.
I don't know how to put it in words... I am absolutely not excusing his behaviour, he still taught about it and started the execution of his plan to shoot out a school, but I feel some type of disgust and empathy toward that kid. I am frustrated by his action, but happy he realized right away he was wrong. I truly hope more kids would be aware of this and search for help instead of coming to that point. That situation could have been avoided if he talked to someone about his feeling and come forward about the type of environment he grew up. I am just happy there were not more people injured, but my heart still goes out to the mental impact of these students and staff.
Probably fired the shot, heard the kid scream, and decided he wasn't a killer after all. A lotta these shootings are desperate people looking for a solution to their problems via suicide by cop. Kid seems to have lost his nerve immediately, thankfully.

@Julian Wright schools are supposed to be trained to be ready to deal with or handle any situation to the best of their ability to protect the students that go there... its not a matter of them being emergency responders or not they are responsible for the kids that go there and it should be completely unacceptable that they had little to no active shooter plan. Obviously this video is old, and all i can hope is they’ve got a better system going
@Julian Wright He's right. It's just how the school system has mandatory drills for fires, tornadoes, earthquakes, and now school shootings. Teachers should be prepared for situations that endagers the school, which includes school shootings. I'm not saying that they should all have pistols and bullet proof vests etc. But training for situations like this and being educated on what to do and what not to do in this situation would be beneficial. You saw the teachers in this video, they were all just standing there, guaking, not knowing wtf to do. Banning autorifles might cause the mass shooting rates to go down, but it definitely isn't going to get rid of it completely. The blackmarket thrives off of gun sales and there are plenty of copycats. People will do crazy shit if they have nothing left to loose, epecially if they don't care about their life or other's.
The officer was just astonished by the kids level of honesty, the schools incompetence to prevent this and the staffs calmness over the entire thing. Madness.
@@FrankDaBank25 The teachers were overly calm. When one student has been shot in the ankle and a shotgun was laying in the hallway and still no lockdown has been called, I'd be willing to call that negligence on the school faculty's parts. Even if they still thought it was an "explosion", because that's what the police were originally called for, why would they not lockdown or evacuate the school? Their inaction could have easily cost countless lives, the only reason it didn't was because the shooter fortunately didn't go further than one shot.
Right!?! And at around 17:20ish, the other officer talks about him having this planned since 2013 and that THEY KNEW ABOUT HIS PLANS!?! Yet this was how everyone reacted to something that could have been tragic otherwise!?!
Real talk, he was probably high on adrenaline and just shocked at the whole thing. You know, as humans are with sudden life or death situations. As a trained professional, he can still act though. I work in a school district, when I go to school buildings that I am not known in, I check in with the office per SOL. Even if they still thought it was an "explosion", because that's what the police were originally called for, why would they not lockdown or evacuate the school? Their inaction could have easily cost countless lives, the only reason it didn't was because the shooter fortunately didn't go further than one shot.
