They knew they screwed up and it took a couple days to find someone to deflect the blame. It's too easy to picture cops saying, "Nobody will believe her because we have badges. Nobody will care we don't do our job if we feed them this woman." They owe this woman lost wages, retirement, mental health care, and punitive damages and whatever else they can think of. They're supposed to keep the scumbags at bay, not be them.

When she said "i'm still in there" it shook me. I have never heard anyone put it that way, and it is so so accurate. PTSD robs you of your every day life, and your mind is stuck in an unsafe and scary world. That defense mechanism just never turns off, and it is so exhausting

The everyday propping open the door by teachers made the door out of line so it would no longer lock. It was the whole teachers fault that prop open the door with the rock.

To the lady in this video, from someone who has PTSD related to school, I can assure you this much:
Yes, you are going to feel dead inside for months, possibly years. You're going to feel helpless, broken, and lost. But please remember, this will pass eventually. This will pass and you'll come out of it even stronger. You can make it out alive and well.
You may live with this trauma in the back of your mind. But the overwhelming feeling of regret and misery won't last forever. Stay with the ones you love, seek the help you need, and whatever you do... Don't bury it. Cry, scream, sob, talk, rant, or tell about what happened. Do whatever you need to do to get it all out of your system.
You can heal and move past this.
I feel so bad for this lady! She literally has to live with this for the rest of her life. I can only imagine how hard it is for her. She had that mother’s intuition but those cops weren’t doing their job. 😢😢😢
The door has a lock for a reason, hopefully her reason to go outside(smoking?) was worthy of the impact.
@@AFuller2020 she literally says in the video that she was going outside to meet her other coworker and was bringing a cart out. She literally said they had kids on the playground so she was going outside to them. Why even bother commenting if you’re not gonna pay attention the video🤦♂️

@McChicken -I don't recall her saying that the door *didn't lock.* You can see her turn back to kick the rock out of the way, and pull the door shut. She might have been in such fear - with adrenaline, cortisol surging, in "flight" mode - that she didn't notice it not clicking into a licked position. Why else would there be a rock there to prop the door open temporarily, as needed, if it *didn't* lock/function notmally?
You're *_victim-blaming._* Instead, direct your accusations at the 376 police officers, chief in commnd, SWAT team and other LEOs there, *_doing nothing_* to save the children and staff.

This woman did what an decent human should do is run to help a person she thought was legit having a heart attack. Even under all that stress she has the brains to kick the rock and shut the door. I hope she gets the therapy she needs and heal. It is a tragic horrendous event but you deserve peace from it - not to let this monster who attacked take it from you. I pray you get it.
I’m not gonna lie when she said to her therapist what she said when she rode past the school and she said I’m still in there that hit me and I understood what she meant by that because look at her in the video you see she got long hair black hair you know she looks pretty healthy mentally an interview her hair is gray and short from all the stress and PTSD and that happened with in months she’s going through some really bad PTSD

My elementary school had a special needs program with the type of discipline you could get in psychiatric hospitals. There was a room in between the two special needs classrooms called the intervention room. It was a blank white room with padding on the walls and a small closet sized room inside with a lockable door. You were put in there if you had a tantrum, were disobedient, or fell asleep in class. I spent probably 1,000 hours of my childhood in that room. I have PTSD about it today. Every time I saw that school again, I would feel like I'm still stuck in there.
This good woman was so brave to gather the shattered pieces of her soul to even do the interview. Thank God her actions were on video so that the cowardly cops couldn't gaslight her. May God heal her and give her peace.

I can't imagine the guilt going through that woman. She was trying to help a person she thought at the time was in trouble. She couldn't have known what his true intentions were.
I hope and pray that she finds some semblance of peace in her life.
So they used the excuse that " A teacher left the door open" like if the door was closed he couldn't shoot a window and get in.. or the glass beside the doors.. they look for a scapegoat to draw attention away from the police waiting too long to go into the school. The blame here is the shooter and the police.

There’s an innocence in all of us in some way, shape or form. A belief that if you’re a good person and do what you should, everything will be fine and you’ll stay out of trouble. And then something happens that strips that veil from you and you can never go back to where you were just seconds before. That’s what makes me sad for her. She will never feel that level of safety or comfort ever again and in its place there will always be a level of anxiety that sits there and vibrates

@@davidsmiths5471 The doors are supposed to lock, with not needing to check, this has been protocol since Columbine. Even if she had locked the door, the shooter would have gotten in and still killed.
I have experienced trauma. I just want to tell that lady: It's going to feel like you died for a long while but don't let go of the hand of God. God will heal your wound if you let him and whenever your ready. You did nothing wrong and there is absolutely nothing you could've done against a firearm.

Uvalde law enforcement and Texas law enforcement blamed the victim and she was one of those victims. She may not have died, but she is still traumatized by it all. To be clear, I am a native Texan and live in Texas.

I worked in Colorado and all teachers would prop door open to go to the cars are go to lunch! Everyday we did this! Everyone knew th3 door was open! Please please don’t blame yourself! You did RIGHT, actually you gave the police plenty of time to stop the carnage that ensued!
