if you're too cowardly to save the kids yourself, why not let the parents go in and save their own children? why block them, taze them, cuff them for trying to enter school grounds to protect their own children? it's almost like they tried to make sure as many kids were killed as possible, that's how horrific their conduct was. They protected the shooter, abandoned the kids and made sure anyone who could save the kids was kept away. They belong in jail as accomplices to child slaughter.

They have a duty to PROTECT and SERVE the people in their city. If they weren't going to go ahead and kill him they should have let those parents try and saved their babies. Almost 100 officers were in and around that school for almost one and a half hours while the suspect freely roamed between two adjoining classrooms as he continue to murder children and teachers.
Meanwhile, numerous officers with tactical shields, ballistic helmets, rifles, breaching tools, and everything else needed to eliminate the threat were waiting just outside the kill zone, yet they refused to go in, violating their active shooter training protocols, academy training, and common sense.

I haven't been through such an atrocity, so I can only speculate. As the father of four daughters in school, I can't imagine that I would wait around for approval to take action. I have close friends in various law enforcement agencies, some who have wives and children and some who do not, and I don't believe that any of them wouldn't do everything possible for the sake of their families or for the sake of any other person, especially children. It's hard to even comprehend the amount of failures, cowardice, deflection of blame, etc that occurred there that day. If those "officials" and cops have any sense of right and wrong, we will surely see a lot of resignations, some legal sentences, and a few voluntarily "unalived" occurrences. Pathetic.

I’ve been in two schools where the doors to my classroom only locked by key from the outside. It’s not as simple as locking the door and then forgetting about it until you have to hide in a corner. The kids need in and out of the room. Principals, parents, paras, there is a constant flow of people in and out of a room in a day. Please, government, take the burden off of schools to replace these dang doors, and just do it. First responders, those who are first to the scene, you can't just wait for orders when every second counts and a potential casualty could've been prevented. However, they needed an entire platoon of officers to take down one active shooter. You may fear for your own life, but these were children with lives ahead of them.
You chose this career knowing you may lose your life in the line of duty, but if you can't commit yourself to the duty of a police officer, if you don't have the courage to face potential death, then you are not fit for this line of duty. These "officers" waited around because they couldn't bear the thought of getting shot, but they didn't have any thoughts of the numerous children who were bleeding out or being shot at.

Meanwhile, numerous officers with tactical shields, ballistic helmets, rifles, breaching tools, and everything else needed to eliminate the threat were waiting just outside the kill zone, yet they refused to go in, violating their active shooter training protocols, academy training, and common sense.
Therefore, these officers are guilty of gross negligence, extreme incompetence, cowardice, conspiracy, or a combination thereof, the findings of which I pray will be discovered within the several investigations that are currently ongoing.

As a security professional I can tell you that the way many Law Enforcement Officers conducted themselves that day was in direct violation of their active shooter training, Academy training, and Common Sense. They were either cowards, grossly incompetent, or following the orders of an unseen Commander with an agenda to allow the murderer to rack up a high body count before they took him out, this providing anti-gun organizations with more fuel to fight their anti-constitution war with. Therefore those officers who refused to Serve and Protect those children and teachers should be charged with negligent homicide.

This is a prime example of what happens when departments lower their standards to allow anyone to join a police department that goes for local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies. Further more training is just checking the box you can have all your inservice training in a class room, but almost no training on actual physical training, the majority of officers are fat and out of shape that is a danger to the community, 95% of police officers are incompetent in weapons knowledge, manipulation or tactics and some are just cowards, prime example Uvalde. Police officers are a para-military organization with rank and structure similar to the military, unfortunately our own military is suffering the same fate, there are no strong leaders any more. Maybe ABC can report on that.
