    JerryRigEverything should be renamed FOS. Recall that Sandy Munro tested the Ford ADAS and he kindly and diplomatically said the system needs more work. And to reference how FSD is dong it. The Ford system couldn't even perform a simple turn at highway speed. So this guy is obviously full of sh!t. Or Ford cash.

  • @yeahbuddy92193911
    @yeahbuddy92193911 Месяц назад +31

    That guy is a piece of work. No Tesla "stans" think FSD is level 5, 4, or even 3. We all are aware you have to keep hands on the wheel, we know it isn't currently Full self driving. He uses total strawman arguments, saying Tesla fans all think "insert lies here". The name FSD should be changed just to take away the ridiculous argument that we think FSD currently can self drive. No, it cant. Yes, we know it cant. Nobody actually thinks it can drive itself all of the time without supervision. Any argument otherwise is disingenuous, just like JerryRigEverything.

    • @KenLord
      @KenLord Месяц назад +2

      Ya that whole thing about it 'only being level 2' is a straw man. It's level 2 because that's what it's permitted to be. It will never be more than level 2 until Tesla seeks approval from regulators for it to be more than level 2. But it easily out performs the only consumer car permitted to operate at level 3 - the one from mercedes that only works at slow speeds on specific highways, with a lead car.

    • @ggenge
      @ggenge Месяц назад

      I agree, Full Self Driving is a goal, not a feature. Tesla had the same problem with AutoPilot giving owners a false expectation of capabilities. When I bought autopilot I thought I could just “use it” as I wished, not have the annoying nag making FSD worse than just driving the car yourself.

    • @IonorRea
      @IonorRea 22 дня назад

      In the current FSD configuration where cameras are next to glass instead of two feet away like driver eyes where a few drops can impair vision or a camera that can get blinded just with a strong light because it does not have sun blockers or sunglasses will not get approved by any sane government for fully autonomous driving no matter how much software improve because the hardware is not up to the tasks to work day and night in any weather. So, current customers are just guinea pigs for future FSD systems that will be capable of what Elon promised to its customers over a decade ago which was among the reasons why Tesla stocks were so hyped that it helped in company survival during rough times and inspired other car manufacturers to do the same...

    Zack was at the CT launch, and just slagged everything. There's nothing new here in his behaviour, it's just getting amplified by Ford. Anyone else remember awhile back when Ford was passing control back to the driver with no warnings at all? Or when it would panic on a typical highway curve that was just a little tighter than it liked? The haters never remember.

Second if he would have balanced the 90 mile range report with a contrasting experiment of driving light at 35 miles an hour in 75 degrees and showing a range of whatever then I would have had more respect. It’s a hit piece plane and simple. A Ford shill, you can’t trust anyone. What a sellout.

  • @danjw1

    I agree with Zack regarding the naming. “Autopilot,” seems much more accurate. I do believe that Tesla’s ADAS system is much more advanced than its competitors. I responded to a thread that Zack was in stating this. Calling it “Full Self Driving” without a trademark to indicate it is a feature name and not a description of its functionality, currently is deceptive not aspirational.
    I will also add that I am disappointed with FSD v13.3, in my limited driving experience with it. I have it in Aggressive mode. It has been anything but slow to accelerate, keeping the speed lower than set when the car in front of me is going faster, and slowing down for curves. This is not aggressive driving, it is driving like an inexperienced driver. Also, the routing engine still is very bad in my area.

    They need to be more specific as to whether the requirement for CCS applies to each *charger* or the *Location*
    If they change the wording to "CCS available at every location" then an unrestricted Magic Dock on "a" charger (or given a percentage) meets the requirement.

In June 2023 when my old car died, I had to take what was available. I ended up with a Toyota Highlander ICE vehicle because hybrids weren't available. Battery packs on tools whether they be drills or robots makes so much sense, yes a none swappable unit can run longer than a swappable pack but the ability to swap packs in a few seconds more than overcomes that. A couple of battery swapping a recharging stations that the robot can initiate themselves could easily be sized for many robots.
    Swapping of batteries in private cars makes no logistical sense, when you get more than 1 car show up at an exchange station you can't even leave to get a coffee without losing place in line.

    I think JRE has a point - there are many Tesla customers who spent thousands of dollars ten years ago to get full self driving and don't have it yet. Tesla could do a few things to make good to those clients, such as offering a refund or transfer. The biggest annoyance I have with Tesla came when I was considering a lease. They said "pay the full amount for FSD, lease the car for three years, then lose all of your money. And by the way, it will never be available in those three years - just the idea of it. And you have to buy it all over again at the next car and we won't let you buy this car. At some point in this process of delay, false promises, exaggerated labels and refusal to let clients use what they paid for, more and more people will be unhappy and criticize Tesla. That is largely in Tesla's control.

    Saying your self drive is better because you can take your hands off the wheel is like saying your ice cream is better because it comes in a bowl. It is a choice of implementation and driver monitoring which has nothing to do with the ability to drive. If Tesla even attempted to allow drivers to take their hands off the wheel by monitoring driver, the press would tear them apart for their reckless behavior. But when one of the old ICE companies does ITS AMAZING LOOK MOM NO HANDS.

    I look forward to someday when all the whoop-la around the c-truck settles down. I consider the c-truck a nice big SUV with a big trunk. In fact the lines of the body are just begging for an aftermarket "cap" system to give it more 'inside, out of the weather' space, while keeping the aerodynamic shape. Even with another battery pack in there. Then I can make a nice transition from my current 12 year old 2500HD Silverado, not want for anything and feel good about the whole thing. 8) --gary

    There is Level 3 with a couple of manufacturers available. FSD is Level 2 and apparently will be in the foreseeable future. Pricing is similar to Level 3 from Mercedes, could be less in value perspective (Tesla will wash hands in case of accident). Volume vice revenue potential will be higher vs. Mercedes in the foreseeable future. However, investors probably overestimate its impact on Tesla's market cap grossly. They will sell FSD to only a fraction of sold Teslas.

    I checked New Jersey gas tax. 42.5 a gallon (rounded down to .42.) At 20 miles per gallon it would take about 12,000 to hit $250. So, not so bad for most. My 4,000 miles per year would be pretty unfair.

    • @yeahbuddy92193911
      @yeahbuddy92193911 Месяц назад

      So then a car getting 30mpg would take 20,000 miles to hit $250. Or a Prius, it would be more like 30,000. So basically they are charging EV drivers as if a Prius is driving 30k miles. Definitely an unfair tax.

    • @unclegeorge7845
      @unclegeorge7845 Месяц назад

      I think my math needs checking. $250 / .42 = 595 gallons. So 600 (rounded up for the sake of math) miles would be breakeven in a vehicle getting 1 mile per gallon. so 6000 mile at 10 miles per gallon. and 12,000 miles in a 20 MPG vehicle. Okay; So my math is close. 30 MPG = 18,000 40 mpg =24,000 50,000 (Prius country) = 30,000 miles. Therefore, on average,

      @@yeahbuddy92193911 I get it. I think most people watching this channel agree with you. I also think that most folks that are not as pro green machine as we are look at road tax as a "repair the road" fee or tax and that green vehicles do weigh more. And of these most think that the "cleaner air" endeavors which makers claim raises the purchase cost is how they pay the dirty air fees. I'd like to see mileage reports at license time and as a factor of weight be assessed road tax fees. Remember 12 minutes per workday of delay because of roadway problems will result in a full week of waiting in traffic per year.
