With the temperature in the teens and snowing we went to check on our boat at Dagmars. This is our first winter on the hard. We are keeping her full time at Dagmars now. Dagmars was Frozen but channel surfing was fine. We winterized her and keep and electric heater in the cabin.

winter note: as EV owners found out, lithium batteries won't charge when temp is below freezing.

The Lithionics battery I installed in Channel Surfing has a thermal blanket built in. It uses it's own power to keep itself above freezing so it can be used (charged and discharged) down to -20 degrees. The BMS keeps track of the temp. When it falls below 40 degrees the thermal blanket turns on to keep the LFP cells above freezing. Dakota's 270AH batteries do similar. But you are correct in that a lot of LFP batteries don't and thus, can't be used in freezing temps.

There's a video coming that'll walk-through how to do gel-coat repair. That was a sneak-peak at what's to come. Paint's now dry, we're just waiting for the weather to warm up and a break in the rain to finish the repair. Be sure to stay tuned for more channel surfing. :)
