Dan, I know what a bad back is to live with. I have had 33 operations on my spine and am confined to a bed 95% of the time. Your videos help to get me out in your Canadian wilderness, which is better than the mostly miserable summer we are having here in the UK.
@@George-tz1cv I just love the scenery, the trains going past the sheer danger of being so close to rapids. Meanwhile Dan sits on a rock panning in a paradise
Dan, I've been guilty of leaving my sniffer, classifier, or even waders, but not any more. Lost a foot due to a fishing accident in my back yard, so now I do all my prospecting, climbing, forgetting vicariously through you and your videos. I recently received my first order of rocks from you, picture stones. Thank you for a little geode that was included in the order and some additional specimens that I haven't been able to identify yet. Thanks so much for the fun times I spend with you from Texas.
My two kids and I watched this while eating breakfast. 3 yr old boy and 5 yr old girl. They get a kick out of the gold shots and the music. Some dancing happened while the cereal was being eaten. It was a bit messy. Thanks for the content.
Nothing would please me more than being there to help and find gold with you Dan! Your videos are inspiring and keep me fired up on finding good gold one of these days!
Ive just found your channel and i love it. I do feel a little worry when your working so close to that river whipping so fast. Life's currently difficult so when i find a channel that can get my mind off the stresses for a bit, im truly grateful. If your a believe in prayer, please add my father to your prayers. Todays day 42 on hospice snd it's been a very rough couple of days. Thanks again
Dan: No recommendations or criticisms here; nope, I just want to say that your videos always get me out of a funk when I'm in one and make my happiest days that much happier when I see a new one pop up. It pains me that there are a number of not-so-nice folks out there who've chosen to attack you, but I guess that's just life. I love your work, as do 1.32 million other people, so hang tough, my friend!
Hi Dan, love your videos. Friendly advice. Before you utilize your vacuum go over the area you want to vacuum with something like a Bannister brush. You will save time and most importantly battery life.
Hello Dan, I enjoy all of your videos. You are so real. I've just had my 5th stint surgery. Similar to you. I learned how to gold pan from your videos. When we visited alaska during covid. I was able to gold pan with what you showed me. It works 😊. I also enjoy you because it's PG(clean). Thank you for all you do. Blessings
I'm honestly smiling the moment Dan starts talking. "I hope to earn your subscription today" Quite possibly the nicest youtuber on youtube. I'm sitting here writing code... whilst dans doing the virtual stuff i simply can't due to location. Thanks dan for keeping the world entertained old bean.
Dan, the secret to moving heavy objects as you get older is to find and harness some 20 year old body builders. Convince them that moving rocks for you is a better work out than the gym and they will PAY you to come do it for you. That way you get the gold and the "gym membership fees" added on top!!! It is called working smarter not harder!
I got the joke. I would like to pass along that moving big rocks can present issues and dangers. You dont have to spend a ton of money for it, but a better choice of gear is what the 4x4 guys used. Factor 55 makes the best off road recovery gear, but if you are just using it for moving a few boulders, that are plenty of brands that will get the job done. Soft Shackles were invented to eliminate metal parts hitting you in the head. Their are a variety of straps designed to go around boulders and trees which are the ANCHORS to pull a 4x4 out of the mud/ ditch / etc. There is a blanket style anchor that is used for the same application as well as digging a hole, laying the blanket in the hole and filling it with sand. In every situation, the pulley that is attached using a soft shackle, will cut the force required to move a 4x4 or a Boulder BY HALF. You could be next to the boulder you move while pulling the boulder towards the Shackle and pulley. One hack you may need, is using a mountain climbing rope because you can buy those small enough to fit on a come a-long. Everything I mentioned is fairly inexpensive and light to carry. The off road trade shows sell all kinds of this gear.
He could market them as "manliness alpha male courses" or something to white collar nerds. Have them lifting/moving all those rocks then when its over go scavenging.
Still in my 20s and would jump at the prospect of helping Dan, Canada looks gorgeous and is only a skip away from where I am! No matter how strong you are, equipment & know-how will always beat out raw muscle, though.
Whenever I am feeling down or depressed I come see Dan. He is the brightest soul I've ever seen. Mr. Hurd you make me smile. Thank you and good luck panning your heart out
When I used to go gold panning in Oregon in the 1980's, we always were able to find enough gold to pay for our trip but not much else. It was a lot of fun!
Mr. Hurd, please do not go remote alone. Your heart gave you a warning already and neither of us is getting younger. Does Pauly get too dive in that river? Miss seeing you with him and crew. Much brotherly love and may GOD continue to bless your endeavor s.
Thanks Dan! I worked as a carpet cleaner 26 years and now at 57 I have to say that I feel my back survived with regular chiropractic maintenance. Not for everyone, many poo poo the benefits, but if you can get a referral from a friend and give it a try you may fine relief sooner than later. Good luck. 😀
Tim's hasn't been canadian for decades. American owned, terrible coffee, factory made donuts. I hate that canada is associated with Tim's. It's just another American poison dealer.
One of the reasons I first subscribed to you Dan is that you dont ask or bug anyone into subscribing, one of the first things you say is that you "hope to earn" a subscription. It has to the first time I have heard a youtuber say that they hope to earn a subscription, there are so many out there that seem to think or believe that someones subscription is a given and I appreciated you actually saying that from the get go. As well as be being great to watch and very knowledgeable plus you make me laugh so much, the fact you enjoy what you are doing and are entertaining. Thankyou for being a stand up guy.
You're a great teacher and amazing at getting some really good shots. I'm glad that you keep yourself in check and try to take care, when care is needed! With yourself and how you prospect.
You can’t hear the wind on the mikes only a little bit but it don’t cover up your voice.we can always hear what u say really well.that’s amazing the gold you get on that river.where does it all come from.out of the mountains I guess but it looks fun to do either way.🇨🇦🇨🇦
With the introduction music I half expected Dan to jump on stage and start screaming into the microphone then tell us he joined a heavy metal band. Keep up the good work Dan you always have amazing videos even if you decide to join a heavy metal band.
Long time watcher from the UK, your videos are fascinating and mesmerising, I could simply watch them all day long... and I do. Keep up the good work. I will always be here watching.
With 1.3 millions subs and about 100+k views per episode, the channel is the real goldmine here and we viewers are the nuggets. RUclips “unsubscribing” folks? They are present-day claim-jumpers!
Use leverage! As a 5’2” female, I figured out how to move a 425 lb boulder from my car down onto the roadway; then up a curb and slope to be positioned exactly where I wanted for installing a mailbox garden, at a church where I was singing. Landscape gardening is sort of a hobby. Just put one shovel under the rock, then shove ANOTHER shovel UNDERNEATH the first. Suddenly you can roll and maneuver the rock. I actually used two boulders in this garden; the other one was only about 325 lb. If you backpacked in, this won’t work for you; if you packed in with a donkey, however, it would be feasible, or if you drove in and the road was really near the river’s edge. Hope this helps!
Scary to think the current state of the Fraser. as of aug 1st there was a landslide that will send a major flood his way. Be interesting to see how much it changes his claim after it settles. Stay Safe Dan.
1900hrs 13 August. Dan, you're terrific. I love every one of your videos. In NZ we say that guys like you are "a dag", meaning clever, witty, entertaining. I'm a crevicer in south island rivers and my best piece is 3 grams. Best wishes, Mike.
Thanks for this Dan, I enjoy living vicariously through your videos. I've only been to the Fraser River once but never forgot how beautiful it is. Best of luck to you from New Mexico, USA
I'm a fairly new viewer and new to gold. I looked up the value of todays find it was $46 USD. I'm thinking most folks do this as a hobby, rather than a living. Kinda like the casino - most days it's a bust, but you keep going back for the big jackpot. In the long run, there is more loss to prospecting, than a gain. All for fun.
Thank You Dan, Love the Adventure! Reminds me of the days I lived in the Rocky Mountains of Colorado. Did a lot of gold panning, mineral hunting etc... Love your show and your enthusiasm! Look forward to your next adventure!
Dan thank you for sharing your knowledge and expertise. I look forward to the day that I get my feet wet and have a sore back at the end of the day prospecting for gold.
Am a new fan. Watching you test that ratchet to its limit on the rocks. Having used a ratchet strap for unapproved heaving myself. I would suggest throwing the simple truckers hitch in the line. This gives you a 2:1 pulling force.
Hey Dan, I'm sure that you know about the Chilcotin River landslide. It's my understanding that it feeds into the Fraser River possibly North of you. Be careful!
Another interesting segment. As usual prospecting is not for the weak at heart, like myself. The wind, no problem with hearing, made it even more real. Best wishes.
Dan, if you take this concept a bit farther, go to the tops where the boulders are biggest, and topple them. I bet you find a beast. You are on top of running into my theories on rock formations. Keep digging, we’re all diggin’ it with you (: Thanks for being A personality
Hi Dan. For your sore back, You need to view an image of your Pelvic Core muscles and pull them all up, all the time until those muscles engage automatically. Also lie on you back and lift you legs to 90 decrees bend. Like sitting on a chair position, but lying on your back. That's for front muscles. Then lie on your stomach and lift each foot towards the ceiling. Keep your hips flat while doing it. The older you get, the more you need to do these exercises. Good luck and I love your channel David from Sydney.
One tool that I found indispensable is a standard parts wash brush. Long still plastic bristles, round brush about 3/4" diam. with a metal ferrel locking that to a wood or plastic handle. Paint brushes and small bench brushes are too soft and too wide, the parts brush works well in most crevices, and it just takes a stiff sheet of plastic or something to use as a dust pan to brush the goods off of the rock bast. The stiff brush is also good in mud and general wet locations, stiff enough to break up dry mud and caked in from eons of time. Good hunting.
I run 15 Milwaukee batteries all day every day on the job site. You would think that with that many batteries available you would never have a dead one but guess what? Lol great tools and better batteries than the past but still batteries all the same
Dang man just buy a corded tool and cord. For a fraction of the price. Unless there's 0 power available. 1 good cord is less than half 1 nice battery. Corded tools are cheaper and more powerful. Plus batteries fail and chargers burn out. You'll save thousands per year.
Real nice job in the video today dan! Thank you so much for talking about the money involved and how much gold you actually got today! People rarely do this, and it leaves all of us who don't have the time or unable to go and do what you do, to find out about the bottom line money that you take home from this! It shows us that the true love of prospecting is simply finding the gold 😄🎉
Ever think of using blow on the vacuum? If you do it from a distance, you should be able to blow away the light dust while the gold keeps jumping around the hole. Might need some practice to get it right, but you could cover a lot of ground and spend a lot less time hauling dirt. maybe.
Dan, you're cool! Stop putting yourself down, please. Your personality is pure fun. I really don't care about gold panning; I love watching you. Depending on when you filmed this; an inversion machine might help your back. I'm a beekeeper, always lifting heavy beehives, and whenever I stress my back, some working out upside down relieves the pressure.
A beautiful day on the Fraser river plus getting a few bucks in the pan and a few bucks from RUclips to boot. Love it. Glad to see no fires in your area.😊
WATCHING YOU MR DAN MAKES MY DAY. LEARN ALOT ABOUT 💯 FROM YOU,WHILE I RECOVER FROM MY CAR WRECK IN DECEMBER AFTER CHRISTMAS COMING HOME FROM WALMART. JUST LEARNING TO WALK NOW. Exciting !!! Love the way you tackled the boulder moving though it looks dangerous. Go Dan, Go !!! The low back is way too easy to strain , take care. You should have a buddy-system and the pulley system if you want to move boulders like a super-human. Beautiful gold that you worked hard for.
Dan is wonderful and anyone whom says otherwise is a jealous hater. Dan, we love you and your channel brings us such joy. I am a hermit so your adventures allow my to have some vicarious fun experiences. 😊
Hi Dan, find a small tree of about 3-4 meters and get help from the lazy man's principle, you can lift much more than you realize. Its fun to see your work. Good luck.
Hey Dan, you should get yourself a tankers bar. I think the ones we had in the Army were between 5-6’ long. Lots of leverage to move those rocks and minimal strain to the body
You're never annoying Dan! I love your rants!
Dan, I know what a bad back is to live with. I have had 33 operations on my spine and am confined to a bed 95% of the time. Your videos help to get me out in your Canadian wilderness, which is better than the mostly miserable summer we are having here in the UK.

Hello Dan, thanks for bringing me on your adventure.
Thanks for the videos Dan!! I dont have recreational panning where I live, so i get to live vicariously through your videos. Thanks again
I always enjoy your videos, Dan. The only thing irritating to me on this one was the *sound* of the vacuum. Thank you for keeping that short!
Oh no. Just got news of the landslide above the Fraser river. Stay safe. Hope to hear an update from you soon. ✌️

Hey Dan,
I'm sure that you know about the Chilcotin River landslide. It's my understanding that it feeds into the Fraser River possibly North of you.
Be careful!
Back strains at our age are nothin to mess with. And don't feel bad, I forget things all the time now.
Watching him pan the gold all hunched over hurts my back just watching it.
Another interesting segment. As usual prospecting is not for the weak at heart, like myself. The wind, no problem with hearing, made it even more real. Best wishes.
Check under those boulders. Like Pale Rider, classic prospector movie. Incredible film. Good luck Dan.

it's so crazy see how water level goes up and down, but seing that shiny juicy yellow at the end of the pan is better
A beautiful day on the Fraser river plus getting a few bucks in the pan and a few bucks from RUclips to boot. Love it. Glad to see no fires in your area.😊
That level will change fast if that landslide lets go. You stay safe. Thanks for sharing. ❤❤❤
WATCHING YOU MR DAN MAKES MY DAY. LEARN ALOT ABOUT 💯 FROM YOU,WHILE I RECOVER FROM MY CAR WRECK IN DECEMBER AFTER CHRISTMAS COMING HOME FROM WALMART. JUST LEARNING TO WALK NOW. LEVEL 2 TRAUMA TO SPOKANE. 3 HOURS TO CUT ME OUT. SO YOUR VIDEOS RELAX ME AND CHEER ME UP. THANK YOU FOR DOING THIS YOUNG MAN. A DRILL TO BREAK UP ROCKS? 😆
As always a joy to watch you having fun
Good job Dan, didn't relize the river was that deep. Kinda scary looking.
Good luck.
Good Morning Mr. Dan...your slo mo is fantastic. Have a great day !!
Thanks for the video! What beautiful scenery, I’m in Dallas no pretty rivers or mountains. Great work!
Hey Dan, you should get yourself a tankers bar. I think the ones we had in the Army were between 5-6’ long. Lots of leverage to move those rocks and minimal strain to the body
Feeling landlocked in Grand Forks, missing the mighty Fraser. Enjoy your posts
Always enjoy your videos! Thank you for making them.
