- What a CRAZY trip to my DREAM claim. Spent two days with Pioneer Pauly and a few other friends gold panning and metal detecting my retirement claim and in a two hour time frame I broke every gold record I have ever set. Most gold, biggest piece detected, biggest gold ever found, best looking nugget, most WOOHOO's! I could not believe what I found. And day two the excitement turned to anger. Have a watch to check out the CRAZY adventure.

What happened to you? Hope you are still able to be out in the world to an extent!
Same, dont have the money to stuff like this, so i can i at least feel like im on an adventure.

I grew up here in the Yukon, so it kind of comes naturally, but it can be learned, we are incredibly adaptable.
Ya. It’s freaking awesome!!! It’s so crazy just how beautiful and relaxing it is.
I’d love to visit up there. For now I’ll have to settle for Yosemite and the like, as I’m in So Cal .

Best of luck Joe and I hope you find your way. I just found Dan's videos and I am loving them as well his charismatic charm and sincerity along with what he does and where he is doing it is just amazing. Take care friend.

Mr hurd was my highschool metal art teacher. Good work man good to see you doing so well with this content!
@Dr D Are you 12? 😂
@Dr D It’s just that jagoff is such a derogatory term. I took offense to it. You’re young. So, now I understand where you’re coming from. Kudos to you Dr D for being respectful in your response to my question.
Imagine for a moment, if more people weren’t afraid to share their enthusiasm and their inner child. The world would be a better place.
@Dr D Yup, he’s weird in a good way. I really enjoy seeing someone enjoy life, act goofy, and enthusiastic about that thing they love doing. It takes guts to be able to put yourself out there. - especially on-line. Social media can be brutal. As a young person, I am guessing you’ve seen how it can harm. I guess my point is - I like Dan Hurd’s weirdness. He’s fun, entertaining, and enjoying life. I love that he’s not afraid to be himself in front of the masses. I’m guessing his students weren’t bored in his classroom. Kids learn more if they aren’t falling asleep. Lol
P.S. Don’t feel bad. I tell my kids ( not really kids - they’re 24) to never ever stop questioning. Live learn love. Find that thing in life you are enthusiastic about and run with it. That’s where you’ll find true success.
@Dr D I don’t know you, young man. But, just from these short messages, I think you are an amazing person. You’ve been through so much. Yet, you have goals and remain kind. I think you’ll go far in life. At 15, you already have a maturity that many never achieve.
Those kids who make fun of you are probably suffering from low self esteem. They are picking on you to try to make themselves feel powerful. Or perhaps they are being abused at home. There are lots of reasons why they bully and all not good. I’d like to sit down with them for five minutes -just 5 minutes.
I’d like to be a fly on the wall at your first class reunion. ❤️
@Dr D Stop lumping in all kids with your mentality. What's so "unpredictable" about him? You're being closed minded. Your mindset needs to change if you're to become a doctor. Like now. You're 15? You should already know not to judge people by their looks. You're off to a bad start. Change your mindset. He's not acting weird at all.
At least you caught the claim jumpers and the authority got involved fast enough. Nice score for the day and now we have too wait for the next record breaker
The police were very helpful
@@Danhurd I'm sure it was a nice change of scenery for the police officers compared to the usual calls they get.
@@Danhurd Yes sir I bet they were 😉 Not a good day for the bandits lmao
The law and jumping on a posted claim should be forfeiture of all equipment. it instantly converts to the legal claim owner. The only thing they would leave with would be their vehicles and the clothes on their back’s. Dan‘s making it sound like they probably had a bunch of gold in their pockets if I were a member of the RCMP they would turn out those pockets.
The nice thing about your videos is i dont feel like i have to watch your videos in order to be in the loop. This videos 2 years old and ive watched videos from a year ago 2 months ago, 5 days ago. But every one of them is worth watching. Your videos are worth their weight in gold!
If people think you and Pauly plant nuggets they honestly can’t judge character. It was my job most of my life and you two are the real deal! Nice work!!
I have been watching you for a while. I love how good and upbeat attitude you have in your videos. It really brightens my day. Thanks Dan.
The "elbows" of a stream like that, especially if there are crevices is where you always find the highest concentrations of gold.💯💛
In case anyone is curious gold is around $60 USD per gram, so that 4.5 gram nugget is worth around $270.
Plus the premium that some people pay for nice nuggies :D
@@oganesson7255 just going to say exactly that good nuggets bring a nice premium
Glad people like Dan exist. Such a nice guy!
All of your videos are legit the best most honest videos about finding gold and just enjoying life for what it's worth.
My husband was reading thru the newest Kellyco magazine that just came out this last week and he pointed out that one guy in there, he wouldn't want to meet in secluded place and that he may have a blacked out van that you would be taken away and never seen again. I looked at what he was talking about and I told him, only if you steal his gold, it was Dan Hurd, lol.
Haha too funny, lol
🤣🤣
Doesn’t quite compute for me...Dan not only looks quite harmless to me, but if you watch only one of his vids you would realize he’s about as far from scary as you could get.
He's like the most loveable soft gold panning lumberjack you could ever meet.
Certainly doesn't look intimidating.
I'm not talking about me, I have been watching Dan for a long time, it's my husband that said that. I know he's sweet and funny.
Made me sad when Dan said he might pass out from excitement, and prob cuz his heart :( stay healthy dan! What would the viewers and more importantly Pauly do without you! Haha
🔥👍
I've never been remotely interested in prospecting... So why is this the second one of these I've watched today?
Because gold... And the silliest part... there is literally gold EVERYWHERE. A lot of it is so small, or so difficult to get to, that it isn’t worth the expense of even trying. But it is literally everywhere. If you live in an area where they have historically found gold you too can try it. Get a garden shovel, go buy a cheap gold pan (not that you don’t have the money for a more expensive one, but start cheap and work your way up) and head out to the areas that historically had gold. Once you find a little, you’ll be hooked. It isn’t called gold fever for no reason.
Just lucky i guess
@@akakscase Just don't look for it on someone else's claim, lol.
Quality counts. Stay safe all. 🍻
Me too. Here in Delaware. No streams hold gold..however just a hop, skip and a jump to PA. there is hold in streams

Question: When you invite friends to prospect on your claim do you have an agreement to split whatever they find? Or, do they get to 100% keep everything they find?
I've always wondered.. Love the channel!
In the video about the Greek video where Dan and Andy did the big prospecting he told he always lead friends keep all the goal. With Andy since it was a business Andy would keep 85% and Dan 15%.
I love the color of the water. And it looks like that even when the sky is gray. Awesome. I wish you the best if luck in all of your prospecting adventures.

I love watching this mans joy. He reminds me of one of my teachers from high school. I would love to work for someone like him.
Congratulations on the nuggets and getting rid of the thieves! Good luck in the future, and thanks for the positive and great attitude, always!
I really think claim jumpers like that should be searched for gold. You can't rely on criminals to be honest about how much of something they've stolen.
I think its ridiculous that legally no one can own the water. Since the gold is coming from the river. No one owns it.
So all these old sour pusses getting mad about someone enjoying life and getting something to eat while enjoying a pan and some hiking. Should find a better outlook on life. Rather than thinking they own everything.
@Badatallthis Stuff youre completely ignoring my basic argument.
You cant own the water.
You cant even own land technically.
What happens to your house when you die?
There more than enough gold for everyone.
@@krotchlickmeugh627 o
@Badatallthis Stuff hey man, your argument was very informative, thanks for sharing
@Badatallthis Stuff Mining claims are temporary. You can spend some time finding some that are about to expire, or that have been inactive (claims require some amount of labor over a period of time). Or, you could buy a claim from the owner. Or you can find an organization/group that allows members to mine there (usually either for free, a yearly fee, or share of the findings) or befriend someone with claims. CA has many precious gems as well if you feel like changing it up too!
You should get one of those crevicing tools that Gary "Two Toes" Honan sells -- the stainless steel tool with the orange handle. They work quite well.
Based off of what crevices tools I've seen on here, this thing with an orange hammer sounds like it could be an engine seal puller perhaps.
Ah yes, back to the emerald/jade looking water hole! Such a picturesque claim 🤘

Great to see the dream claim paying out!
Your beaming face when you got the nugget, havent seen that for a while, good on ya! Great to see!
Shame about the claim jumpers, suppose when the gold is good they are never too far behind.
Oh yeah!
Claim jumpers should not only be charged but all of their equipment should be taken from them! They might think twice about doing it again if thousands of dollars of equipment is seized and never returned!!!! Some really nice gold Dan😍 looking forward to the next vid👍🏻
Back in they day they would be shot. Personally I would rather get permission first or I just dump the gold back in a good spot if I find a good sample pan and let the claim owner know

So here’s the thing , I’m not really big on prospecting although my father certainly loved the idea . Don’t get me wrong , im a big fan of gold just not the work that’s involved in obtaining it from the earth . Dan gets my subscription not because of my interests but from the fact he is so engaging and entertaining while teaching something about a part of my father’s life that has been more of a mystery to me. I think now I understand him and my own spirit a little more .

Claim jumpers should have to surrender all the gold and all of their equipment to the claim owner when caught.
Facts
@Badatallthis Stuff thats what he said
@Badatallthis Stuff teehee :) why are you so upset? It took you 2 comments to come up with this one? The purpose of my comment was to inform you that what you thought you came up with, he had already stated in a summed up version. Clearly a judge would have to rule it that way to change the law. But if you want to double down on his statement you can. Doesn't mean I can't tell you it was pointless.
@Badatallthis Stuff tehehe I didnt think you were going to get so upset! : /
"should probably be made in a courtroom by a judge" looks like something you added, but maybe he said it first and then edited his comment to delete it. So that's 100% my bad for not noticing he edited it. I just found out he lives in Canada, here in the US a judges decision is used in future cases. I don't know anything about other countries legal systems so I guess you got me there.
@Badatallthis Stuff i must be very worthy if i keep earning all these additional comments. :)
