Hey there. If you want to get involved in the prospecting fun, check out the MPAA. They have a ton of resources, and even some private claims, that can get you started right away without spending a lot of money up front. Also, start looking around your local area for prospecting shops and retailers. A lot of them have good information on open use areas you can go. In most cases, don’t expect to find copious amounts of gold. Unless you live in Australia... In the video about the Greek video where Dan and Andy did the big prospecting he told he always lead friends keep all the goal. With Andy since it was a business Andy would keep 85% and Dan 15%.

I seriously hope Paulo isn’t taking his time and audience through your drama about guys mining a river that YOU DONT OWN you DIDNT MAKE or LAND YOU CANT PROTECT YOURSELF 🤷♂️
It's not drama and it's not his drama it's people thinking they're allowed to do whatever they want. Simply because they feel like it. Those people weren't worried about the pollutants they were putting into the river these are the same type people that probably leave their trash spill gas and think it's funny like fires and don't put them out. Those type people stop good people from doing good things.
I could sort through the dirt and rocks all day, Dan makes it look so fun. It already something I like to do, looking at all the rocks along a river for pretty ones
@Badatallthis Stuff teehee :) why are you so upset? It took you 2 comments to come up with this one? The purpose of my comment was to inform you that what you thought you came up with, he had already stated in a summed up version. Clearly a judge would have to rule it that way to change the law. But if you want to double down on his statement you can. Doesn't mean I can't tell you it was pointless.
@Badatallthis Stuff tehehe I didnt think you were going to get so upset! : / "should probably be made in a courtroom by a judge" looks like something you added, but maybe he said it first and then edited his comment to delete it. So that's 100% my bad for not noticing he edited it. I just found out he lives in Canada, here in the US a judges decision is used in future cases. I don't know anything about other countries legal systems so I guess you got me there.
Its so easy to become ungrateful and lose interest in the more simply beautiful things in life. Dan has this deep appreciation and joy from his work. The scenery is magnificent and watching a ppsitive friendly Gentleman like Dan Hurd, is very enjoyable and invigorating. Find the beauty around you and dont take it for granted. I appreciate you Dan Hurd. Thank you for making the effort to share your life with us.
The real gold is that river. It's beautiful. It's a gem! You could just do 3 hours of ASMR video and sound of that river for people to play in the back ground or while they are falling asleep. Please don't tear it up too much.
My property has a year round creek... in 50 years it stayed relatively the same....Then a wildfire nearly killed us, and now, every year the creek morphs into something completely unfamiliar! By the end of summer it’s cleaned up...until the first heavy rain! , usually in October..Then I don’t bother it until springtime again! This year should be interesting...we are in the first full season of El Niño! Last year was the most bizarre with storms of the quadruple Atmospheric rivers nearly flooding us out...and then snow!
Great to see the dream claim paying out! Your beaming face when you got the nugget, havent seen that for a while, good on ya! Great to see! Shame about the claim jumpers, suppose when the gold is good they are never too far behind.
I was so happy to see the gold you guys found! And equally happy you caught the claim jumpers, hopefully CA laws will stick it to them good. The highlight of the video for me was the beautiful river and the footage - Canada has got to be the most beautiful country :) Nice to see PP and the gang.
So here’s the thing , I’m not really big on prospecting although my father certainly loved the idea . Don’t get me wrong , im a big fan of gold just not the work that’s involved in obtaining it from the earth . Dan gets my subscription not because of my interests but from the fact he is so engaging and entertaining while teaching something about a part of my father’s life that has been more of a mystery to me. I think now I understand him and my own spirit a little more . Thank you so much Dan
I like this guy Dan he makes you feel like you’re right there with him. I love the excitement he has when he finds a small piece. I have learned a lot from watching this program. Keep it up.
I really think claim jumpers like that should be searched for gold. You can't rely on criminals to be honest about how much of something they've stolen.
I think its ridiculous that legally no one can own the water. Since the gold is coming from the river. No one owns it. So all these old sour pusses getting mad about someone enjoying life and getting something to eat while enjoying a pan and some hiking. Should find a better outlook on life. Rather than thinking they own everything.
@Badatallthis Stuff youre completely ignoring my basic argument. You cant own the water. You cant even own land technically. What happens to your house when you die? There more than enough gold for everyone.
@Badatallthis Stuff Mining claims are temporary. You can spend some time finding some that are about to expire, or that have been inactive (claims require some amount of labor over a period of time). Or, you could buy a claim from the owner. Or you can find an organization/group that allows members to mine there (usually either for free, a yearly fee, or share of the findings) or befriend someone with claims. CA has many precious gems as well if you feel like changing it up too!

My husband was reading thru the newest Kellyco magazine that just came out this last week and he pointed out that one guy in there, he wouldn't want to meet in secluded place and that he may have a blacked out van that you would be taken away and never seen again. I looked at what he was talking about and I told him, only if you steal his gold, it was Dan Hurd, lol.
Haha too funny, lol
🤣🤣
Doesn’t quite compute for me...Dan not only looks quite harmless to me, but if you watch only one of his vids you would realize he’s about as far from scary as you could get.
He's like the most loveable soft gold panning lumberjack you could ever meet.
Certainly doesn't look intimidating.
I'm not talking about me, I have been watching Dan for a long time, it's my husband that said that. I know he's sweet and funny.
I noticed you upped the resolution of your videos to 4K, VERY NICE! The water is soooo *much* less chonky from compression!!
So relaxing and enjoyable to watch the smile on your face and the excitement of everyone is priceless congratulations and thank you👍👍
Thank you so much!
humble and enthusiastic at the same time. best kind of educator.
Dan: All I ever do is wishing you Luck. You the man with that magic pan. Loving your stories. Regards 🇿🇦.
Thank you. What a great day and video. Maybe just a little too many musical interludes though. The natural sounds are music enough for me.
Noted!
Question: When you invite friends to prospect on your claim do you have an agreement to split whatever they find? Or, do they get to 100% keep everything they find?
I've always wondered.. Love the channel!
In the video about the Greek video where Dan and Andy did the big prospecting he told he always lead friends keep all the goal. With Andy since it was a business Andy would keep 85% and Dan 15%.
Envy is a sickness I hope your haters get well soon meanwhile on the south side of town the rest of us are great and love your videos so glad you broke your record so glad I got to hear a waterfall this morning today is going to be a beautiful day thank you Dan heard you are indeed the man
This is so nice 🙂
You can tell Dan's got a kind soul I don't understand how anybody could dislike him.
@@tanner882 It's not drama it is theft.
Dan has to pay a fee to prospect/mine on his claims.
I could sort through the dirt and rocks all day, Dan makes it look so fun. It already something I like to do, looking at all the rocks along a river for pretty ones
dude..you are totally a shoe-in for a real-world Tom Bombadil. You're charismatic and carefree and fun to watch!
Ah yes, back to the emerald/jade looking water hole! Such a picturesque claim 🤘
❤️👍
“Looks like Polly might be getting wet?”
“Look like Keith might be filming it?”
😂😂😂 hilarious
Claim jumpers should have to surrender all the gold and all of their equipment to the claim owner when caught.
Facts
@Badatallthis Stuff thats what he said
@Badatallthis Stuff teehee :) why are you so upset? It took you 2 comments to come up with this one? The purpose of my comment was to inform you that what you thought you came up with, he had already stated in a summed up version. Clearly a judge would have to rule it that way to change the law. But if you want to double down on his statement you can. Doesn't mean I can't tell you it was pointless.
@Badatallthis Stuff tehehe I didnt think you were going to get so upset! : /
"should probably be made in a courtroom by a judge" looks like something you added, but maybe he said it first and then edited his comment to delete it. So that's 100% my bad for not noticing he edited it. I just found out he lives in Canada, here in the US a judges decision is used in future cases. I don't know anything about other countries legal systems so I guess you got me there.
@Badatallthis Stuff i must be very worthy if i keep earning all these additional comments. :)
Thanks for going to the trouble to show us the beauty of your landscape and the excitement of prospecting.
I love the genuine attitude that you express in your videos. It is just an awesome thing to see
Its so easy to become ungrateful and lose interest in the more simply beautiful things in life.
Love how you said "Hope to earn your subscription " you got mine!!
The real gold is that river. It's beautiful. It's a gem! You could just do 3 hours of ASMR video and sound of that river for people to play in the back ground or while they are falling asleep. Please don't tear it up too much.
Any "tearing up" that he does will be covered or destroyed by the next flood. That water is more powerful than any man or machine
Thank you for taking your time to document your adventure and share it with us for our entertainment
It is nice to have such a happy person who enjoys the simplicity of nature like watching you, greetings from Switzerland
I hope the court takes all of their equipment and either sells it or gives it to you.
Great to see the dream claim paying out!
Your beaming face when you got the nugget, havent seen that for a while, good on ya! Great to see!
Shame about the claim jumpers, suppose when the gold is good they are never too far behind.
Oh yeah!
Your videos take me out of my own head for a bit and I appreciate going on adventures with you!
I love watching this mans joy. He reminds me of one of my teachers from high school. I would love to work for someone like him.
You should get one of those crevicing tools that Gary "Two Toes" Honan sells -- the stainless steel tool with the orange handle. They work quite well.
Based off of what crevices tools I've seen on here, this thing with an orange hammer sounds like it could be an engine seal puller perhaps.
I was so happy to see the gold you guys found! And equally happy you caught the claim jumpers, hopefully CA laws will stick it to them good. The highlight of the video for me was the beautiful river and the footage - Canada has got to be the most beautiful country :) Nice to see PP and the gang.
looks like such a peaceful fun way to spend the day with your mates..
Dan I love watching you and pioneer Pauly work together you guys have great chemistry

@Badatallthis Stuff hey man, your argument was very informative, thanks for sharing
Only just came by your channel today.
Your enthusiasm and joyful nature doing what you're doing alone earned the sub, the content is Fab 👍🏻
Welcome aboard!
Sorry bout the claim jumpers Dan. But wow what great finds. I'm delighted for you🍀 can't believe this video is a year old and it's probably the only video of yours iv missed 🙈.. happy hunting Dan
Thanks Dan n find that gold, such beautiful scenery..very relaxing to watch.. 👍👍 Nice!!
It feels like I'm playing a videogame when I watch you just pocket gold out of the most beautiful scenery ever
Great pictures, well done vids. Wishing you all good luck and health for your future trips!
Man I really love your content and how you respect the environment even when mining! Love your channel
Great video Dan, nice gold too , can't help but think about some fishing also, what a beautiful spot.
Dan, this is a absolutely beautiful place.
Thank you for sharing
Those claim jumpers are fortunate to live in a more "civilized" society. I think you know what most of us would like to have done to them.
Would have been different 100 years ago.
With laws from 100 years ago but today's technology Dan would be selling 2 dredges in the states right about now hahaha
@@Danhurd in some states its even worse than 100 years ago. I know several claim jumpers who are still pulling buckshot out of the backsides
Bear poop.

Really happy for you Dan -- I know the feeling of having an amazing record breaking day finding gold nuggets, especially after an extended "drought". Hoping for many more to come! I think this video has inspired me to charge up my detector and go move some rocks at my favourite creek! Thanks Dan.
How beautiful is it there! What a place to be able to do a hobby - as a job! Also love how you are working together! The intro drone was beautiful too! Glad you guys are reaping it in as well!
I like to see people do right in nature, and get rewarded for hard work, for not taking the easy and lazy route. I have enjoyed watching these videos.
Man, where are you guys? The views are so spectacular!!
Fascinating Dan totally and utterly fascinating. A story well told. ( I'm binge watching as I've just recently found this channel) Love from the UK.
This is a great episode, I'm glad to see you had so much fun out on the river and finding amazing nuggets of gold!
I truly enjoy and appreciate your channel Dan. Thank you for sharing you’re knowledge and enthusiasm. I hope your heart heals well cause It’s a good one.
I love your passion, but I also love how you are recovering such a wonderful element from nature, in such wonderful environments
Dan you are my hero! You have a lot more to find buddy go go go !!!! Thans for letting us be a part of this magical journey. The music is very befitting as well.
Dan, I had to watch this one again. It is great and I think all you guys are great. What an amazing day you must’ve had and I wish you all the best and all the luck in the world that your hard work pays off big time. Thanks for sharing!
I haven’t been really happy lately and this video just made my day! Thank you Dan!
Am i the only one who everytime he sees something yellow i automatically think "gold?"
You are not!
Yes
No
we all do
I even thought some of those leaves were!
What a likable guy. Definitely makes you want to get outside and start digging.
I love your channel. It gives me and all of the others the opportunity to be beside you when you go to the beautiful places in BC and find the gold. It's what I would have done at an earlier age, given the chance. Now age has crept up on me and I am glad to let you do the hard part and all I have to do is sit back and watch you work. Good luck to you on this claim from us in Tennessee.
Congratulations on your finds! That is a truly amazing spot you have claimed.
I love how much fun you guys have when you’re prospecting. My fave gold channel! Keep it up.
There has got to be a big motherlode somewhere in this area... I look forward to seeing you find it.
After an unusually horrible week at work, Dan Hurd's cheerful nature is the antidote. 😄
I have been rafting since I was a teen and I love beautiful rivers and water falls. Awesome scenery!
