Running a dredge you guys can't get past the clay layer like an excavator right? after the overburden and the pay layer you have a limit, where it just won't pull hard pack. have you ever tried to scratch the hot area's with a handheld garden rake? pole or crow bar? or whatever would help break up the material? does that seem like a stupid question? or would it jam up the sluce?
I was thinking that they need to use the pressure hose that is made for that use on the smaller dredges. My little 4 inch has that feature which will break up the hard pack and make it possible to get the larger jammed rocks free without a lot of effort.
I loved my time in Nome! I think the gold must come from a formation on the sea bed, not just washed in from upstream. I would be core drilling like crazy.... if allowed.
