You can put a straight pin across the end where you want the buttonhole to stop. If you slip cutting the hole open the pin will stop you from cutting too far. Thanks for sharing this tutorial. ❤️
These are really cute. Definitely want to make these!! Your design is very nice … love using the butterfly in the design for your ctr front❤ You mentioned your thread breaking. This may help… a couple things that can cause your thread to break. 1- Sewing through the thickness of the layers can dull your needle & and/or bend it a bit. Change the needle to a medium or heavy wt. 2- Use different thread. Sometimes it’s really old or just not the right one for the job. 3- The bobbin… round to tight. 4- It can be the tension; set to tight. Tip: Unless you know what you’re doing never adjust the bobbin tension. It’s preset from the factory. When I was a new sewer, many yrs ago I messed mine up so bad I had to buy another bobbin case. Usually the presser ft adjustmt or upper thread tension will be fine. Obviously start w/ the needle, it’s the easiest to chk. P.S. your granddaughter is really cute!!
Super cute idea, easy template! Instead of using a seam ripper, pinch area in half and use tip of snips and cut most, then tiny snip to finish, thank you!
Love the pattern and idea. Ill give you a tid bit on the button hole cutting. They do make a button hole cutter. Worth the money, it is a fabric chisel with a block of wood that looks like an apple, it also comes with an eyelet chisel as well. Happy Sewing!
This is so pretty!! And can make 2 of these with one towel with matching or different tops. Thank you for explaining how to use a button foot attachment🤗 and for explaining how to sew this!!
I have viewed dozens of videos on hanging towels, and tried almost as many. Yours is the easiest, AND cutest of all. I love how it turned out and it will be the only one I use. Thank you for a great tutorial.
Ummmmm, I really like this. Much better than the curved design that I made for mine. I like your dog plaque in the bathroom, I need to get one for a relative with 3 dogs.
Thank you for the tutorial, I have my pattern cut out and the instructions written, now to find time to do it. I have not made buttonholes in a long time, but when I cut mine open, I used a wooden clothespin to place underneath and then slit with the seam ripper, not the pinch kind of clothespin, the old fashioned common kind, you could still put a straight pin at the end so you won't go too far with your cutting. I am wondering if I could not just use a whole hand towel to make a bigger towel to wipe your hands on instead of cutting in half, especially for the bathroom. Marylin another lady told me about the pin, and I have been doing it ever since, I cant believe I didn't know to do that, lol. I think using the entire towel would be great, I gave a sneak peek of a new hanging towel in my January Sew Sampler unboxing that actually uses two towels. I unfortunately have to wait a couple days before I make the tutorial, because I have lost my voice🙁. I have bad luck, lol
🌎❤️🕊😊 😊 Hello! Thank You So Much For Sharing Your Skills! This Is My First Time Watching You On RUclips Videos! I Hope You Will Makes More Video ! God Bless. Stay Safe!
I love your idea! However, I don’t sew nor own a sewing machine. Would there be another way to make this without using thread? Some type of glue maybe? 😬
I think you definetly could, but I'm not sure it would hold up good in the wash. I would say use some glue then maybe try to add some stitches by hand to give it a bit of strength.
You made it look so easy, thank you. I would like to try one but I only know the basic, because of COVID I had to stop my classes. I would like to ask what size of needle you used because the towels look a little thick.
@@DebbieDeeable I just watched the video through, because I had a comment about using foul language, I couldn't catch any foul language, but you are so right, I wouldn't want to try and count all of the UMMMS, LOL, I think I have improved since that time, I have made quite a few more videos since this one, but I do appreciate your creative criticism. It always helps me to make my content better when I have another perspective.🙂

I do that too! REALLY works!
Great tutorial with the button hole on the machine.
Thank you!
Very pretty both ways

Best video on how to make these cute towels. Will be making some for the holidays coming up!
Awesome idea JoAnn I have been looking for different ideas and here it is sent by you thanks for sharing

Thank you! I like the top! Will make one tomorrow!
To avoid going to far with the seam ripper, put a pin where you want to stop. Love this project. Thank you
I hadn't even thought of doing that, Thank you for the great tip!
Awesome and interesting. Will try. Thank you for sharing.
Enjoyed your tutorial, very easy to follow. I like that your turned a simple mistake into a positive by adding two buttons. Thanks for sharing!
I love your template, so basic and simple..I'll surely try this, thanks 😊
Glad you like it!
@@SewingAlchemy Hi, I did use it, and they turned out beautifully, thank you so much 👍😍

I bought two towels and four different pieces of fabric and will be making four of these real soon. I love your video!

Very pretty. I will try this

Just found this awesome video. Love how you made your mistake work out. Thanks for explaining each step in detail. Can't wait to try this.
Glad it was helpful!
Thank you for this tutorial. I just finished making a pair for my mom. She absolutely loved them! ❤️
You are so welcome! I am so glad my video was helpful, and I am so glad she loved them!
If you fold length wise, you will have a line to follow when folding your point.
That's a great idea, hadn't thought about that. Thanks 🙂
Before ripping up the button hole. Put a pin in one end so when you slit up there you cant go past the pin and destroy your hole

Great tutorial, love the easy template idea!! Regards from sunny Scotland

Your intro … you are way better than I am and your videography is bomb, I’m so jelly
You are way to kind Jose, Thank You!!😇
Really pretty.
Thank you!
Very nice and simple thank you very much
I could hear my mom yelling don’t use those scissors on paper.....lol.
I often wonder whether that applies to tissue patterns.
If u put a pin just before you won’t ripe the button hile
Beautiful, thank you so much, I really like your idea
so stinkin' cute!
Beautiful!
Oh i love it great idea 🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰
When you cut your button hole put a straight-pin as a stopper not to go pass the button hole.
I just came back here to say the exact same thing. That was a rule always growing up sewing.
Cute. I did some curved ones similar. Be nice to use a machine embroidery butterfly. I would use my press studs save work.
Press Studs?

Loving this but could not see sizes for material too. Where will I find them please?
The template I used was just an 8.5 X 11 sheet of copy paper.
Thank you for sharing !😍

Thank you so much, I have not made a tutorial in quite some time, you give me some real motivation to do more! I really appreciate your kind words!
Great job, love it!
Cute towel. Can you tell me again what type of fabric you used for the top? Ty
It was actually fabric from Walmart, they have a brand called Waverly that is a heavy cotton, it is actually very durable.

I enjoyed your video but I seen where you can take one more short cut for the ruffles. But well done love your idea God bless you always in Jesus amen
You made it look so easy, thank you. I would like to try one but I only know the basic, because of COVID I had to stop my classes. I would like to ask what size of needle you used because the towels look a little thick.
I am not 100% sure, but I usually use a jeans needle whenever I do layers, they cut through the fabric better.
@@SewingAlchemy thank you, I will look up what size is a jeans needle.
@@AngelaPEvans You can use various sizes I usually go with 18/100
@@SewingAlchemy Thank you, your pattern was easy to follow.
Thank you
Amei!!
Gracias!
1 what was the gadget you use to make a crease at the beginning ty
It is a tool from clover the Roll and Press
amzn.to/33TBHi4
What size is your template for the towel top
It is just an 8.5 X 11 sheet of copy paper.
Make your life easy people and use your walking foot when you sew through all those thick layers. Safer too.
You are so right, and that machine has a really nice one that came with it. Pure laziness on my part, lol
Just take out a few stitches on each side and fold towel to the other side
I could have, but it still looked good, now that it has been washed a few times it actually looks great either way.
GREAT tutorial! You need to watch your tutorials so you can learn to control the "ummmms". Very annoying hun!
@@SewingAlchemy Never noticed the ummms...probably because I was focused on what you were doing!
@@SewingAlchemy The foul language was probably "bugger". In England, it is similar to the "F" word. It made me laugh, though!
Bonito 😍
Put a pin in one end
I think better with interfacing
It is versatile, whatever works for you is great 👍
Why can't you do one panel a matching solid coloe?
You could make it anyway you want, this was just an example of what you could make.
Does the template allow for the seam allowance? What's the seam allowance?
The template has the seam allowance accounted for.🙂
How does your paper measure?
8.5X11 it's just a standard sheet of copy paper
What size is the paper.
8.5 x 11
8.5x11
Must I cut the towel
If your sewing machine will sew through all of the layers you could just fold it.🙂
Great instructions, but the towel is on backwards.
Yes, I realized I did that, but it was very nice either way, lol
Happy Accidents, lol
IF YOU PUT A PIN AT EACH END OF THE BUTTONHOLE BEFORE CUTTING YOU WONT CUT THROUGH TH ENDS OF YOUR SEWING
I have since learned that, it's very helpful, Thanks!
What type of needle did you use?
I believe it was just a universal 80/11 needle. That is generally what I use.
What machine is that?
It's a Babylock Crescendo.
What size is the template
I never did say, sorry about that. It is an 8 1/2 X 11 sheet of copy paper😀
JoAnn Harvey yes
