I’ve been watching your tutorials since you first started. YOU ARE THE BEST TEACHER. You don’t talk down to anyone, you don’t talk too fast you don’t talk to slow you give examples were necessary. For those of us with some experience, we can follow along. For those with no experience, we can follow along because you’re taking the time to be a good teacher. Thanks for all the effort you put into these, the people who are subscribers are grateful. congratulations on some great work!
Your tutorials have helped me from binding a quilt, making a "burrito" pillow to these tea towels that my daughter wants me to make her. Your instructions are spot on. Thank you, can't wait to make a couple !
I know that this is an old video but I just love the way you explain everything. I have a buttonhole gadget that came with my sewing machine. Being new to this craft you made the button hole gadget so much easier to understand. Thank you. I like to follow your videos. So detailed and always with a smile.
I absolutely adore you, I am just starting to sew I am in my 50's, and yes I did learn a little sewing in 7th grade...a little while ago... 8 ) my hubby bought me a sewing machine on black Fri. I stated watching your videos, and you are my hero!!! I am hoping to try the buttonhole it was so intimidating to me until I watched this video...and let me say, "You are an awesome teacher thank you so much for remembering us newbies, even us oldies"!!
You have such a great way of explaining things. I appreciate that you don't have LOUD music that drowns out your voice too. I don't sew much, but I do like these towels so I'm going to make a couple this afternoon. Thank you for sharing your tutorial and thank you for the printable template. I can see why you have almost 60,000 subscribers!
HI Vanessa, as soon as I finished watching this video I checked my machine and it had the same buttonhole foot. I couldn't wait to try it. OMG, it was so easy and the button hole was just the perfect size for the button. I'm going to start adding buttons to my projects and I owe it all to you, thank you.
This is a great tutorial! Thank you for demonstrating the button hole foot -- I have a babylock machine but just haven't done button holes on it yet! I'm sure the Brother machines and others with this type of foot work similarly, so thank you for a clear demo! This is a great beginner project -- gathering is an essential skill to know! Maybe I could help my granddaughter make one for her mom!
+Crafty Gemini Creates A little update: I went crazy and ordered several tea towels from Amazon, and then used my precuts for the tops and made 7 of these for Christmas presents. My Babylock Ellure Plus was SO easy to use for the button holes, just like your demo showed!
Thanks Vanessa! I found some material I had purchased a couple of years ago, I printed out 6 of the patterns so I could lay it all out on the cloth. It was SO easy and fun. I will soon have homemade Christmas gifts for the girls in the family! I will be purchasing my towels in the morning so I can finish up. It was nice to be able to get the rest of it finished. Thanks again. I look forward to your videos each week!
I really love your videos. I am a beginner and I just made this and I am very happy with how it turned out :) Made my first button hole and sewed on my first button with my machine. Thanks Vanessa!!
if you are planning on giving this to someone who is elderly or has arthritis, buttons are the bane of our existence. It is a little more expensive, but the magnetic snaps that can be sewn in work great or even sew in a piece of velcro ( i prefer the magnets as they don't get messy like velcro eventually will. But it is less expensive.), and you can always sew on a decorative button if you want. also i wouldn't cut your tea towel in half. tea towels are thin, and fairly inexpensive. when you cut it in half it makes it look cheap. by just putting your basting stitch on the center line you will end up with a fuller looking hanging towel. or you can simply lay it flat then fold it into thirds the width of the topper. then fold in 1/2. no gathering involved. this will give you a very neat and tidy appearance. this is nice for towels with writing on it that you want people to see.
Haha! Vanessa...you were right. With this super cute video you made me want to try my button hole foot!!....I have never tired it but I saw how easy it is and will for sure try it with this project! THANKS!!
I love your videos. You are a great speaker and make it very easy to follow what you are doing. I am a new sewer and you are teaching me well. Thank you.
love it... have to add this to my project list. I got a button hole plate, but had no idea how it worked and the book showed very little, so thanks for the demonstration. So glad you and MSQC are doing things together.
I’m a very old and new to sewing gal. I found your instructions so clear and easy to follow. I can’t wait to try this and view more of your videos! 12/8/20
Thank you so very much for this video and the template. I am EIGHT!!!!! months behind in my Christmas gift preparations, and this will help me so much! Thank you again!
Excellent video👌 Very clear explanation of how to fold the fabric before putting the towel. Love the way you explained how to use the piece to make a button hole. Excellent I’m so thrilled 👌 thank you so much. Found your videos😍 So happy 😍
Your video's are great. I saw lots of videos on how to do this but yours was so clear, concise, easy to watch and listen to. Thank you and keep these wonderful easy to follow videos coming!
Vanessa, Wow what an awesome video!! I have watched a number of the dish towel videos others have made and although they are all good - they are not as informative as your's as far as making the button hole goes. Button holes scare me along with zippers but, after watching many zipper videos last weekend I think I can do one and tomorrow when my eyes are better in the morning I want to get my button hole foot out and read the directions. I have a Bernina with a metal foot. I like your voice, your diction is always great. I love your craft room and all you have on your walls - the colors everything you display is an eye catcher too. In 2015 I watched how to make the catch-all fabric baskets and I shared my pattern with a friend who was learning how to sew last summer (her business is card making) and wow - she has been making your baskets like crazy and selling them at her craft sales. Now she is using cam snaps in colors to match the fabric because you can unsnap it and lay it flat to iron it. She made one for my birthday with my initials in gold vinyl (she also has a cricket and makes vinyl crafts too). I took the basket to Sanibel with me in November to put on my dresser in the condo to put my barrettes and jewelry in. I can no longer make the baskets to sell because now she makes them to sell and if we are doing the same sale I want her's to be bought. At Christmas time I made one of your baskets a tad bigger and on each corner I sewed a thin grosgrain ribbon and tied a bow on the top of the corner and put pretty Christmas napkins in it. I thought this afternoon on making one the size of business cards to hold my cards that I hope to order soon. I stick to a budget and keep changing my mind as to what little picture to have on my card as I sew and bead and make note cards. Hopefully tomorrow I will get a new cartridge for my printer too so I can download your templet. Thanks again for an awesome video.
Great tutorial! I wash my towels and fabrics first. Some of the cotton towels shrink an amazing amount-not a problem-just make one hanging towel from each towel. If it is preshrunk, your gift recipient won’t be unpleasantly surprised after washing for the first time!
I loved the tutorial! You had just the right speed and plenty of information for all skill levels . I subscribed so once I tackle this project I will look to you for more. (Also, I am a Gemini so it was meant for me to learn from you)
Thank you so much for this tutorial! I have several sewing machines I like ...but now I want one like this. Love how easy the buttonhole was. I will be making a ton of thes!
Im newer to sewing, I have been watching a lot of your tutorials thank you, and now I know how to use my button maker lol. Thank you again and I love your projects :o)
Thank you! I've made about 6 of these using your tutorial! I did cheat on a couple of them and used velcro and sewed a button on the tab for decorative purposes.
Vanessa Thanks so much for this tutorial. My husband and I fish and use these type towels looped through our belt loops at the waist to wipe our hands after (hopefully) catching a big one! Because you never can find these hanging towels when you need them, I will certainly be saving this one to make a pair when we need them.
WOW! Been looking for how to make these little hand towels! I have been buying them as I always like to have one hanging by my sink! Thank so much for teaching how to make them! Love and enjoy your video's hugs Liz...
Love this tutorial! I have a button hole foot, but never tried it because I am a VERY new newbie! :) This helped out a lot because I am more hands on. Definitely trying this!
Thank you for this video! It was a real eye opener! ( I had no clue what that little lever was for and bingo, everything started to make sense! Thanks for making it look easy!
Thank you, I have a Babylock Tempo, same button hole foot, but I never have figured it out. I've been driving up to my daughters house 30 minutes away to use her 1969 singer that was grandma's, or hand stitching a button hole. Merry Christmas!
+Jennie Wallick Oh try it out, just look at your book but follow what Vanessa does on the video -- it's VERY easy, you put the button into the back area of the buttonhole foot, put it on the machine, pull down the little plastic thing to sit against the foot (your machine book will explain) -- once you get this, you won't want to use anything else! Try it out on some scrap fabric and use a 3/4" or less sized button -- try it out when it's NOT part of a project... it only takes 5 minutes or less.
+Jennie Wallick That is so cool! Yes it took a little practice for me too -- this towel project was the first time using the buttonhole function on my machine, too (it's 18 months old)... doing it on a towel is a little different than on a garment will be, but at least you figured out how the buttonhole function works:) Happy New Year, may you have lots of fun sewing throughout the whole year, and be brave and try out new things!
Crafty Gemini, LOVE YOUR TUTORIALS!!!! I have been following you since....like forever!!!! Wow, just realized how creepy that sounds. Sorry. I love that you are part of MSQC. I love Jenny and am so glad that you have been part of the family there. I am a fellow sewer/quilter and am always looking for new ideas and projects to do and to use my, one of 7, sewing machines! I have done just about most of your ideas and was looking for a new project and I think this will be my new one.Love your Crafty Gemini channel and am LOVING THIS NEW CHANNEL! Congrats on your new channel and your new family at MSQC. One day I would love to come down, from Michigan, to visit the store and would hope that you would be there so I could meet you and tell you how awesome you are. You are truly an amazing person and I love your bubbly personality. Keep up the amazing work and till then...Ciao!
I love this tutorial! Your pattern for the upper part reminded me of the shape of those plastic putty scrapers you can get at a hardware store! I may have to see if that could be a good pattern for it!
Love the tip with the pin as I have cut through the end of the button hole before. On a dress for my daughter. So disappointing to do that. So your tip was great.
Nevermind my stupid browser I still don't know how to work my 5 year old phone thanks for u do and put out for free so much appreciated and so much learned❤️

I love your videos. You are a great speaker and make it very easy to follow what you are doing. I am a new sewer and you are teaching me well. Thank you.

+Victoria Castro so glad you found me!! Enjoy :)
Thank you, I was always afraid of the button hole piece thinking it would be complicated to use.🥰 a sign of relief 😅.
love it... have to add this to my project list. I got a button hole plate, but had no idea how it worked and the book showed very little, so thanks for the demonstration. So glad you and MSQC are doing things together.

As usual,a great tutorial. Thank you!

I love your videos. You teach very well. Thank you.

Thanks for this video! I've always wanted to use the button stitch and foot!
Thanks so much for a simple easy to follow button hole video..I just made my first one..Thank you..
I sew my buttons on with my machine. So easy to do!
Thank you, I have a Babylock Tempo, same button hole foot, but I never have figured it out. I've been driving up to my daughters house 30 minutes away to use her 1969 singer that was grandma's, or hand stitching a button hole. Merry Christmas!
+Jennie Wallick You'll have to let us know how it goes on your machine when you try it out! :)
I have a perfect button hole! Ok I also have 4 or 5 that weren't so great but they were on practice cloth
Great video. Maybe suggest using awesome decorative stitch along bottom?

TYFS , this is a quick, fast DIY & a great gift.
Thank you for your quick efficient tutorial. I will use a snap fastener as I don’t have a button hole accessory 👏
Excelente tutorial bravo 👏👏👏
I love this. Super quick and easy.
i made a bunch of these and they are fabulous.
Great tutorial 👍
