This is such a great tutorial for hanging towels. At first I wasn’t so sure how it was going to work out. Everything always comes together. I make and sell Kitchen Boa’s at the farmers market and this will be perfect for the people who don’t want a boa. You have the perfect voice for teaching and as always I love 💕 your video’s. Thank you
Thanks for the kind words🙏. I have been rolling up the boa with a set of coasters in a bowl cozy and wrapping a ribbon around all of it as gifts. See you in the next vid😊
I’ve always made hanging towels with a button closure. This method is so much easier. I’ve made several of these already and will teach a girl I know who is just beginning to sew. Excellent video, easy to follow and great video.
This by far has been one of the easiest tea towels that I personally think I can make that looks so simple for a newbie such as me. Thinking there was a pattern ready for me to print, I was amazed to see there wasn't. The simplicity of this pattern is easy for newbies and experienced. I applaud you in your newest creation. You’re a genius. Wish I had thought of that. I’ve been racking my brain on how to make a towel stay on the oven handle without having to add buttons or Velcro. Sick of my towels falling on the floor. Thank you so much for your idea.🩵
This tutorial is absolutely excellent. Thank you for your clear, detailed, and precise instructions and perfect camera work. Just made my first one of these up and am very pleased with it - your instructions provide perfect guidance and nothing was left out.
Thanks Angela. This is brilliant! I have made a few hanging towels for kitchen and bathroom BUT I think this is quick and easy and professionally done compared to what I've done. I like the strap idea. I'm inspired to make some. Well done!
Made my first hanging towel today. Due to my lack of sewing skills I made a few minor mistakes, but overall it was so easy to do!!!! I am very happy with my finished product and now have more confidence in making a few more for family and friends. Thank you for making this so easy to follow along with.
Thank you for such clear and concise directions for these towels. In addition, you have such a relaxing voice, which makes the instructions even easier to grasp. I've subscribed and look forward to seeing and learning more in the future. Happy New Year Karen and thanks for watching! I make many many samples before producing a tutorial to make sure my methods are as simple as possible with professional results. So I really do try not to waste any viewing time. Please have a look at other tutorials on my channel. Happy Sewing!
I really like this design. When I first started sewing again I made some hanging kitchen towels for Christmas gifts using a thicker towel, a pot holder and a button. They came out ok but I hated the gathering part and sewing through all that bulk and swore I wouldn't do that again. This is so much nicer - clean lines and I like using a thinner cotton towel. Will definitely try this. Thank you!
so glad you like it. I’ve mentioned before that I didn’t know that this was a “thing”. I came across videos with the potholder and buttons and ones that look like little dresses and I just thought Nope…… I made many samples until I was happy with this final design. I knew I wanted simple and clean. For some crazy reason I don’t want buttons in my kitchen😁. Thanks for watching. I’m trying to come up with a different design so the towel does not need to be sewn in… Stay tuned….
You know what's weird is no matter what design you prefer to make it style of towel, someone at a market will always ask for something different. Comments like, do you have thicker ones, do you make them longer, etc etc. So if selling, variety is the key. Definitely going to be doing these ones because I think no-one nearby is doing this style.
This is an amazing design - so neat and professional looking. I've already made 2 and now all my friends and family will have all the hanging tea-towels as presents for years to come :-) Your tutorial is so simple and easy to follow as well - thanks for your generosity in sharing.
@@NotchesSewing Wonderful! I bought something once, it had a towel at each end and goes over the neck...I hope I can make more of them because as a whole-food, plant-based chef, I give cooking demos at times and want some for myself.
This is a very simple, step by step tutorial. I love how you take your time to explain each step. I would love to make some of these hanging tea towels as Christmas gifts, but my only problem is that my towels measure either 15 in. x 25 in. or 16 in. x 26 in. Will the measurements given in the video work for my towels.
Hi Helen, thanks for watching. Glad you like my design. The main thing you need to do is have the tea towel measuring 6” across after it is pleated to fit the fabric piece. Instead of marking 4” from the centre when marking for the pleating, mark 3.5” from the centre and then 3” from that mark. You’ll just have less turned over to the back at the sides. It doesn’t matter how long it is after you cut the towels in half. Have fun sewing and let me know how you go😊
@@NotchesSewing Thank you for answering this! I have the exact same size towels and knew it would work and would figure it out but you saved me a step! ❤🙏🏻👏🏻
@@NotchesSewing Thank you - I came here looking for tips on recalculating. The math was hurting my brain, and I was afraid I was setting myself up for failure. Would you consider adding this info in your description at the top? It took a lot of reading to find it. I'm grateful for the tutorial!
I love this! I'm currently sewing things for Christmas gifts and possibly to sell at craft fairs and this looks like a keeper! I love that you don't have to do buttons, I am not a fan of button sewing! Can I ask where you get your tea towels at? Are they inexpensive? I don't think I've ever bought that type before. Thanks so much for sharing!!
Glad you like them! I really don’t like the look of the button ones or anything with ribbons etc for my kitchen… I just bought a set of three tea towel from Spotlight. I think they were on sale for total of $5. There’s plenty of great tea towels out there plain and with prints.
@@NotchesSewing definitely a sale shopper. especially as the big S store is the only place to buy fabrics in my town. Thrift stores and donations help me find other bargains.
So far I have made two towels. I am very pleased in how well they turned out. My mom who is 83 and has been sewing for 60 years asked me to teach her. She had not seen this version of kitchen towel project. I greatly appreciate the detailed step by step instructions and the spot on camera view too. Can’t wait to try out more of your other projects!! Thank You !!
Thanks so much for watching. I created this design after not being able to find anything that I liked the look of. I like clean design. So towels with buttons and ribblons or that looks like you're hanging a child's dress in front the stove is not for me! LOL. I knew I could created something that would be easy to use and nice to look at. So after many many samples, this was final result. So glad you like it. Just follow my steps precisely in my tutorials and it should all turn out. Have fun!
BEST, FASTEST, MOST EASY TO FOLLOW INSTRUCTIONS!!! THANK YOU! I tried other directions and it took me a long time to make one. Thank you, thank you, thank you for making this video! In 15 minutes I was able to measure, cut and sew my towel!!
Thanks Emily. This is my original design so I’m not sure what other instructions are out there. Please have a look on my channel for more designs. Cheers!
I love this tea towel! I have kids and love how it doesn’t come off the oven handle. Super easy, well explained and amazing finished product! I’ve searched the internet and Etsy for something like this and came up empty handed. Everything had fastners. Fold over technique is a nice clean look. Thx you!
I had a fireman come in to my house when it was first built and he said we should never be hanging tea towels on the oven door. Maybe move it over to the handle of the dishwasher but then not all dishwashers have a handle Ask me if I have any tea towels hanging on my oven door?🤪🤪😝🤣😜
@@NotchesSewing Wow! I checked out the other video and loved the towels. I am preparing for a 4-day craft show in September and will definitely add these to my inventory! Thank you again!!
I also have kitchen boa, bowl cozie, door stopper, hair accessories etc tutorials as well you may also want for your craft fair. More to come. All the best!🙂
Found this tutorial at Christmas. My girls had to wait until this week for the rest of their gifts but they all got a set of them! I think they will work on a towel ring too. Great tutorial.
I really loved this tutorial. The first took a bit but the 2nd was much faster. I ended up making a couple of modification due to the materials I'd chosen. I used a terrycloth dish towel which was much thicker than the one shown in the video. My towels also had a design on the front that wasn't quite centered properly. I ended up folding the sides to the back and centering the design in front, eliminating the tucks. I also made the width of the folded towel just 5-3/4" instead of 6" to allow for the extra thickness of the towel. Lastly, I chose a lightweight woven gingham as my main fabric. Knowing it wasn't sturdy enough to support the towel, I cut a lightweight cotton lining the exact same size as the main piece, laid it behind the gingham, and continued construction by just sewing them as one layer. Thank you so much for sharing this!
Glad you worked it all out. I made about 20 of these when developing this pattern……. I decided to make tutorial with lighter weight fabric as would be better for beginners. I will have a new towel design soon. Cheers!
Tried it! Now I’m trying it out in my kitchen. So cute! So easy! I’m just beginning to sew again after many years. I have to admit, I’m feeling a bit proud of myself! Thank you!
This is genius! I saved the link to it. I like the simplicity of the finished look too, even though I also love the ones that look like dress. I guess it depends on which side of my head the marbles have rolled to that day! lol! I agree with the commenters that love how you didn't waste words, and had everything you needed on hand. I hate small talk and have a hard time sticking with videos where the poster isn't prepared and goes off camera hunting for things they need. Very well done!
32 y.o. crafter here. Just recently got into sewing. Was crocheting prior to that. I never liked the look of crocheted tea towel holders. They looked too dated to me. But I LOVE the look of this one! The pattern and instructions are simple and easy to follow. I've made a few of these for my family for Xmas. Thanks!!
Same..don’t like crocheted tea towels either. Really don’t like the ones that look like a dress…and then hung in front of your stove??? This is why I set out to design something a bit more streamlined, Thanks for watching. Please check out some of my other tutorials. Happy Holidays!
What a great video! Not a bunch of nonsense chatter. Quick, thorough and to the point. Very easy to follow. Great job! Now to make some hanging towels…
I found this style of hanging towel on RUclips and scoured all the channels for a method that I liked. Your method is, hands down, the best and produced a quicker professional result than any of the others. I tip my hat. Thank you.
@@NotchesSewing I Have! I appreciated the effort to find designs that didn't require the towel to be cut in half. Personally, I think the half towel a more useful design. I did like the band only options. Correct me if I'm wrong, but the one side of the towel is really the only one used unless it's hung backwards so the band doesn't face out?
Really depends on how one uses the towel to wipe their hands. Won’t be as pretty if you hang towel with band in the back. I will have a couple more designs soon for Xmas. Be sure to subscribe and turn on All notifications so you don’t miss them. Cheers!
I just made this. It turned out very nice. I had my IPAD right beside my machine and watched as I sewed. I am going to tell you that during the process, I did not think it was going to turn out. What an excellent way to make the hanging towel for kitchen, no buttonholes, no buttons, I have some Christmas towels I recently purchased, just need some nice festive red fabric to make the tops, this video provided inspiration for some lovely Christmas gifts

Hi Angela, Found out what I was doing wrong.... It was the folding in the center part and pulling the material down and sewing over the top of the band. i was pulling the material down over the material over the top and not pulling the whole thing down and stitch. Now the material lines up perfect. Nice! Love this Pattern. I'm sure all my friends will too! Thank you so much.

You are a great teacher! No personal chitchat - just instruction. My time is very limited, so I appreciate that more than I can express! Thank you for that, and for your wonderful tutorials! I want to sew, not listen to everyone’s personal stories which are none of my biz!
You are so welcome! Thanks for watching. Please have a look at some of my other designs.
This is an awesome tutorial! I’m not a person that can normally make anything that requires sewing, but my first towel came out perfectly. Thank you so much for your easy to follow instructions and detailed video!
You are so welcome! So glad to hear this. Please have a look at my other hanging tea towels as they are even easier. Cheers! Will have more designs soon. Cheers! ruclips.net/video/Q1uvQ72qFHw/видео.html
I love this towel! Simple sew but a really nice unexpected design!
Glad you like it! Thanks for watching😊
I had such a good time making this, thank u
I'm so glad you enjoyed this design. I’ve had lots of great feedback. I have spent the last few weeks working on a few new designs. Please subscribe and turn on ALL notifications so you don’t miss it. Thanks for watching 🙏😊
I absolutely love this! I made it last night and I can't wait to make some more as gifts.....thank you!
Wonderful! Thanks so much. Please have a look at my latest designs to make hanging tea towels. I often make bowl cozies and put in a matching towel and coasters as gifts. Cheers! ruclips.net/video/Q1uvQ72qFHw/видео.html
WOW! This was fascinating to watch!! I learned so many new techniques that I’ve never seen used. I loved how you thought ahead in each step. Wonderful tutorial and idea. Thank you!!
Glad it was helpful! Hope you try it out😊
You’re a genius. Wish I had thought of that. I’ve been racking my brain on how to make a towel stay on the oven handle without having to add buttons or Velcro. Sick of my towels falling on the floor. Thank you so much for your idea.🩵
You are so welcome! Glad you like it😊
This tutorial is absolutely excellent. Thank you for your clear, detailed, and precise instructions and perfect camera work. Just made my first one of these up and am very pleased with it - your instructions provide perfect guidance and nothing was left out.
Thanks so much. Please have at look at some of my other designs 😊
Thanks Angela. This is brilliant! I have made a few hanging towels for kitchen and bathroom BUT I think this is quick and easy and professionally done compared to what I've done. I like the strap idea. I'm inspired to make some. Well done!
You are so welcome! Have fun!
Made my first hanging towel today. Due to my lack of sewing skills I made a few minor mistakes, but overall it was so easy to do!!!! I am very happy with my finished product and now have more confidence in making a few more for family and friends. Thank you for making this so easy to follow along with.
I am so glad you found it easy to follow! Please have a look on my channel for more towel designs etc…. Happy sewing!😊
Thank you for such clear and concise directions for these towels. And I wholeheartedly applaud you for being so prepared and getting right into the subject matter without spending 10 or more minutes " conversing " i.e. wasting my time. In addition, you have such a relaxing voice, which makes the instructions even easier to grasp. I've subscribed and look forward to seeing and learning more in the future. Blessings and Happy New Year. KA
Happy New Year Karen and thanks for watching!
I make many many samples before producing a tutorial to make sure my methods are as simple as possible with professional results. So I really do try not to waste any viewing time.
Please have a look at other tutorials on my channel. Happy Sewing!
This is exactly what I needed! So well done and easy to follow. Thanks for this.
You're very welcome! Please have a look at some of my other tea towel designs on my channel. Cheers!
This tutorial is the best one I've seen for making hanging tea towels.
Thank you. I spent quite a bit of time designing it. Cheers!
I came across videos with the potholder and buttons and ones that look like little dresses and I just thought Nope……
I made many samples until I was happy with this final design.
@@NotchesSewing finding buttons to buy is getting harder for me.
This is an amazing design - so neat and professional looking. I've already made 2 and now all my friends and family will have all the hanging tea-towels as presents for years to come :-) Your tutorial is so simple and easy to follow as well - thanks for your generosity in sharing.
Brilliant! Thank you for this. No snaps. No buttons. No fuss or mess and perfect to give to a male as well as female cook. Blessings!
Glad you like it. You may also want to look at my kitchen boa tutorial as well. Cheers!
Have fun sewing and let me know how you go😊
@@NotchesSewing I surely will. Thank you so much for the tip.
I love this because it uses the entire towel.
Thank you. Please have a look on my channel for more designs. Cheers!
Have fun!
What a great tutorial and design. Made 2 last night.
Thanks so much. Make sure to have a look at my latest designs as they are even easier. ruclips.net/video/Q1uvQ72qFHw/видео.html. Cheers!
Thx you!
Thank you. Glad you found my design. I spent a lot of time on it. Happy Sewing!
I had a fireman come in to my house when it was first built and he said we should never be hanging tea towels on the oven door. Maybe move it over to the handle of the dishwasher but then not all dishwashers have a handle
Ask me if I have any tea towels hanging on my oven door?🤪🤪😝🤣😜
Excellent!! Thank you for this tutorial!
You're very welcome! Please have a look at my other hanging tea towels as they are even easier ruclips.net/video/Q1uvQ72qFHw/видео.html. Cheers!
At first I had NO idea how in the world this would hang, but I love it once I got to the end! I w8ll certainly try this
Glad you like it. Please have a look at some of my other designs. Cheers!
Found this tutorial at Christmas. My girls had to wait until this week for the rest of their gifts but they all got a set of them! I think they will work on a towel ring too. Great tutorial.
That is awesome! Thanks for watching and Happy New Year!
Thank you!
Wonderful! Happy to hear this. More to come..
Thank you I made one tonight. I am a beginner and so thankful for people who teach on RUclips 👏
Fantastic! Please try some of my other designs😊
Thanks Kelly. I appreciate that. I do a lot of editing of my videos. Trying to respect viewer’s time. 😊. Have fun sewing.
Very informative love it
Glad you liked it. Thanks for watching!
32 y.o. crafter here.
Thanks!
Thank you so much!😊
What a great video! Not a bunch of nonsense chatter. Quick, thorough and to the point. Very easy to follow. Great job! Now to make some hanging towels…
Awesome, thank you! Please have a look on my channel for more designs😊
I found this style of hanging towel on RUclips and scoured all the channels for a method that I liked. Your method is, hands down, the best and produced a quicker professional result than any of the others. I tip my hat. Thank you.
Glad you found it as this is my original design. Please have a look on my channel for more towel designs etc…. Cheers!
Mine was not looking like yours at least I didn’t think so. So I quit working on it for three days. I just pulled it out this morning. Decided to work on it some more and lo and behold. It did turn out, thank you so much ❤❤❤
Great job!
Thanks!
Thanks so much Sue!😊🙏

Just found your video. Straight-forward, simple, but explicit directions! Love this!
Thanks! I’m so glad you like it!
Yours is the first video that popped up when searching for a pattern to make this style hanging dish towel. After reading all the comments and asking self: “should I see what other videos have to offer?” Self relied: “no, don’t mess with clear, easy to follow instructions!” I’m off to choose fabric and coordinating dish towels to make cute last minute Christmas gifts!
Thanks for sharing!
This is my original design so I hope you don't need other instructions! LOL🙂. Thanks so much for watching.
I love giving these as gifts, but the hardest part is giving instructions on how to use. Thanks for a great gift to give.

I love this pattern!! It has no interfacing or batting and goes together in a snap. Also, no button holes to mess with. I just found this last night and already have made 6 of them for friends. Thank you so much.
You’ve been hard at work! Glad you like the design. 😊
Thank you for making a great radio. You’re amazing is correct. I agree with everybody else. I questioned several times. You’re like my little sewing buddy. I like your voice too and that you don’t beat around the bush. You do a good job explaining things to thank you.

I really like this tea towel. It doesn't have too many steps. I can re-wind any time to go over a step again. You do a perfect job with the tutorial. I am making these towels for my church's Bazaar!
Thank you😊💜
I’m so glad you found it helpful! 😊. Good luck at the bazaar!
I see that I last commented a year ago, and since then I've made several more of these. They're sweet, quick little gifts that anyone can use. I just made a couple more today and had to watch again because I was afraid I'd forgotten some details. EXCELLENT tutorial in every way!!!

I am so in love with this pattern. The perfect gift for family and friends this year. My husband got to see the first one demoed and now he can hardly wait to have them in our kitchen. I love how they look and come off the bar. Simple and functional. Easy, easy to make. They are so darn cute. Thank you for an awesome tutorial.

what a great video. Just tried it with an old tea towel and some left over fabric and I'll give it a 7/10 for first attempt. Such a simple design and instructions, thank you so much

Glad you like it Jacqueline! Please have a look on my channel for other towel styles etc. Cheers!
Fantastic! Please also have a look on my channel for my other towel designs etc…….Have a great day!!
Excellent instructions. Speaking clearly and slowly is greatly appreciated ❤️❤️❤️

Glad you found my tutorials. Have fun sewing !
I am blown away by your pattern. Just so easy to hang and remove. Very clear instructions too. Thanks for sharing
Hope you enjoy making it!
I LOVE this design. I wanted to make some of these, but didn't want them to look like my mom's! Very contemporary and cute. I will probably add ribbon or ric-rac to dress it up, but it doesn't really even need it. Thanks for the concise, thorough tutorial!
Thanks so much. Glad you like my design. I also have one with ric rac which may give you an idea for adding it on. Cheers ruclips.net/video/0HctlJDmd-A/видео.html

THanks Linda. I’ve designed a few more easy ones. Please have a look at my channel for more tutorials. Cheers!
I have made a couple of these and they look so nice. I do like the fact that I can make two from one tea towel. I surge the cut ends of the towel after stitching and it works so well to keep it all together. I'm thrilled with your designs and thankful that you describe every little step. These are the best tea towel designs I have ever seen and couldn't be happier with the outcome. Thank you!
Thanks again Lynn! So glad you like them😊. More to come……
