@michellediaz86 Hahaha. My husband always asks my why I watch these... he likes to remind me how I am NOT a DIY'er...I always say that maybe someday I will be...lol
I didn't even have time to make anything extra, but I'm definitely here for your commentary! You're so relatable, and bubbly and hilariously not hard on yourself or others. I love it. You remind me of Kiki from Gilmore Girls. ❤
The reason your Gramm taught you to wrap the thread around your button after you've sewn it on is so that your button will be a little raised, making it easier to button and unbutton it. It also helps to strengthen the stitching in the button. BTW, I think that your ideas are marvelous and you're right, "They are soooo cuuuute!" I can't wait to give them a try.
I could. Not imagine anybody give it a hate to this woman. Listen, and this woman has made my day. She has got such an upbeat. Personality, attitude, it's just in her voice. You don't even have to know her and it just makes you happy. Stop with the hate.
Hate comments! What is wrong with people. This woman is so flipping funny, upbeat, sunshiny and anything else that's bright. Those people are very jealous 😤 I'm sure she will ignore all the negative nannies. I love this lady
I’m 73 years old and way back when I was learning to sew (my mom was an amazing seamstress) she taught me this method for knotting thread!! I’m glad to see it’s endured the test of time!
My Grandma taught me the same thing! Awhhhh, I miss her. I am 56 now, appreciating her teaching me how to garden, can, and sew. My mom, who does none of that, says I was born in the wrong time😂
I also take them cheap pot holders and I sew rubber drawer liner on the back of pot holder helps to open up jars you can also use the pot holder to lay on the countertop and it won't slide when you put a plate on it
That’s actually a very securely sewn button. The way you instinctively wrapped the thread around the threads holding the button on left enough room to button onto something thick. Same idea as buttons on a winter coat.
I’m not a crafty person, but for some reason your video was on my feed. I was curious to see your projects, but TBH, it is you who kept me watching. Just listening to your happiness, excitement, giggles and bubbly personality make me smile. Thank you, Collette, for a few minutes of happiness and smiles at a difficult time. 💜💜💜💜. Oh, and I do love the projects! 😊
I store my potholder "kit" in my glovebox keeping things like: q-tips, safety pins, dental picks, allergy tabs, strike anywhere matches, coupla bucks, wet nap, eyeglass repair, mints, etc. at hand. I have used it often! Love these videos! Thank you!
Just found your channel, It's the first think that has made me smile and happy since my neice Bethany went missing April 8th 2022 after a horrific violent DV incident with her boyfriend and she's never been found and I've been Soo lost without my best friend, I'm disabled and at home all the time and it's like my life and world just 🛑 stopped and I cry daily, and it just touched my heart that the first one you did was purple and had butterflies which were both my NEICE Bethany favorite, it was just so special, and I just had to tell you thank you, so thankful and appreciate finding your channel, we use to craft a lot, and I've just not had any thing to work with since my neice went missing, thanks for sharing, please pray for me, I really miss this and her Soo much
Oh Rebecca, we're so sorry. Please hang in there. Please reach out....via Church, Senior Cnter IF you're 45+. I use to take a loved one & was accepted. Perhaps have your ride share take you to the Library & read to children? Just a few ideas. You clearly are creative & making things will keep your beloved niece with you & hopefully bring back lovely memories. Prayers coming your way from so many. Lifting her in prayer as well. Paz be with us all 🙏. "Isa"
Omg! I'm so sorry! what a horrendous time you have been through! I will be praying for you and thinking about you Darling, you are not alone, because I love you,and God loves you,try and keep your chin up Rebecca, take care of yourself. Lots of love from south Wales,United kingdom coming your way!❤❤❤❤❤XXXXXXXXX
Loved 4 of the hacks, especially the kitchen towel with pot holder. Gracias Gracias!. You're sooooooo wonderfully cheerful, Bless you. Paz be with us all 🙏. "Isa"
@@darm.8172Doing it by hand just take a little practice and few pinches here and there. When I first moved to US I had to make my own curtains by hand cause money was low. I used blankets and needle and tread. They were not professional but they solved the problem, and they looked good, 👍.
#6 Mom and I used to roll pot holder diagonally (like cone), sew edge, decorated and sold for $4.95 at craft fair to hold your scissors. Really cool ideas. Have always bought the towels at craft fairs. Never realized so easy to make. Thank you.
When making the towels, you can also cut the towels in half at the seam horizontally & sew one half on a potholder instead of both halves, so you get two completed towels rather than one! It honestly depends on what you want to actually use them for and how thick you want your towels to be. Some pple. just want them to be used as a decoration, so one half would be perfect! Also, if you don’t use them but for a quick hand drying towel, then wash it, it would work for that, too!
Maybe this was a good way to relax and unwind watching someone doing something that makes them happy to do neat things for themselves and for others. 😊
I have to always remind myself to have fun with my crafts instead of perfect. On one hand I have OCD and on the other hand I have ADD. I never finish because it’s not perfect. I like to watch you because you reminds me 😊 to have fun. Relax and enjoy. I love your laughter. I will definitely be making the cast iron handle holder and the lid holders. What a great idea to use them for the short handles. Also a regular pot holder alway wants to hang into the food.
Wow!!! What you wrote here REALLY REALLY REALLY resonates with me! It's like you're talking about me. And I would not be at all surprised to find out that the majority of people reading this feel the exact same way I feel!!
Love the little pot lid holders! How brilliant! My grandmother made pot holders with the left over fabric from making dresses for me. I still have and use them! I wish I could send you pictures of them! EVERY time I use them I think of those beautiful dresses and of my loving grandmother! She made them when I was about 12. I am 69 now. I’ve used those hot pads for 57 years!
I made a whole series of the hot pad towels for my daughter. One of her cats kept pulling the towels off the handle to watch them fall!!! Love your projects.
I'm so happy that RUclips decided to put you in my recommendations list because your bubbly personality just put a massive smile on my face. So, of course, I just had to subscribe to you. Those pot holders are so beautiful if only we could afford to make patchwork bedspreads out of them, it would cut down on so much of the extra work in making those beautiful patchwork spreads that take so much dedication and sewing to design. Much respect from Ireland. 🤗🥰
I love your personality, it’s so healing to me. You said, done is better than perfect, can crafting just be fun, yes and yes, that’s what I want to get back to please! I always over sew buttons too, I don’t want them coming off.
I was recently watching a video and yours popped in my feed and as I watched this I continued watching just to hear you as you described the steps of your project and I was constantly smiling because of the joy & excitement that oozes from you. Continue what you’re doing I’m sure you’re making others smile as well. 😊
You showed up in my algorithm and I'm here to say. I'm obsessed with your energy, and it reminds me a lot of myself and the excitement I have that people lovingly pick on me for😂
The wrapping thread and tying off, making knot in thread to sew was taught to my 8 th grade Home Economics class in 1968. The wrapping is part of making a shank for flat buttons. Another hack taught was to hold a straight pin over top of button and every pass over the top of button goes over the pin,do the wrapping around to finish, tie off pull out straight pin and you have some flexibility when closing . Been sewing buttons this way a long time.
I took a potholder, sewed on a button. Then wrapped it around my metal gate, that slides open for me to drive my car threw, and position the pot holder in a place where I grab the gate to open it. In the summer the gate is scalding hot. It allows me to open the gate without burning my hands. It's been on there for years, and it is time to replace it. But I do love your crafted ideas too. I'm going to be retiring soon, so I'll have more free time to do things like this. Your sewing kit idea gave me an idea. Can make the same thing and use it in a diaper bag or even a purse for small items. Diaper bag: nail clippers, Neosporin, Band-Aids, hand wipes, etc Purse: medicine, bandaids, Neosporin, hair ties, etc, maybe even small jewelry....
one of our stores, their door is in the sun all day, so super hot 🔥 during the day. They cut a slit in a pool noodle and the duct taped it. Very comfortable to open the door now.
RUclips recommended this video and I said, Why not check it out, I’m just sitting there drinking hot cocoa and relaxing. My goodness am I ever happy I watched. You had me smiling and laughing, enjoying every moment of your Kathy Najimy voice and personality. Now I’m off to watch part 2 and will probably subscribe to your channel. You’re a mood booster for me. Thank you for being you!
26:00 - Wrapping the thread around the button is to make a thread shank so the button stands away from the fabric a bit to make it easier to grasp and put through the button hole.
Oh my. I was having a day of struggles. I was down. But you are so cute and talk so positive I had to subscribe. I don't even sew, not really. Thank you for cheering me up. ❤
This was the first time I ever saw one of Your videos. I love it. I did give You a like and Subscribed to Your channel. I loved all of these crafts. I really loved Your Gnome bag. It is soooo cute. I look forward to seeing more of Your videos. GOD BLESS YOU AND YOUR FAMILY. ✝️🙏🏽👍🏼❤️👋🏼
I love all of these. I would make a small change to the long handled pot holder. I'd sew the loop end closed and leave the non loop end for the opening. I don't know about anyone else, but I know that loop would be covered with goop in no time.
You can seal the edges of the sandwich bags with an iron. Put parchment paper on top and bottom of the edges and use an iron just hot enough to seal the bags.
Very fun watching you make your creations. I also learned to wrap the thread around the button several times. It helps the button move a bit to go in and out of the button hole or loop. Without the wrapping of the thread, the button is too tight and hard to move in and out of the button hole. Keep on creating great crafts! I love what you said about “ done is better than perfect “!!!! 🤩
I don't like allot of crafts but i may just do the first one. I hate my towels always falling off my oven handle. Thank you for the excitement you show. It really lifted me up.
You gave me an idea: How about making a hot bowl holder and include a soup packet with a bowl or mug as a small gift? (Please consider showing how to make a hot bowl holder that can be used in the microwave.) Thanks!
Hello, I’m a new subscriber and a newbie sewing crafter. I LOVE this video! Thank you for sharing, and thank you for sharing how to make a knot by rolling the thread in your fingers. No one has ever taught me that, and it’s a GAME CHANGER for me! THANK YOU! Love and Blessings, Ann
I'm new to your channel. Love your sense of humour, and I love to see all these ideas!!! I love sewing by machine and hand.. I make pillow cases and sheets with old clothing!! Look forward to more!!! Thank you!!❤
Oh my gosh I LOVE the hanging towl idea!! So simple yet so efficient! I'm mindblown lol. I'm so doing this! Maybe it will stop my husband from using the cute ones on messy things. 🤦♀️
While it does make them slightly bulkier, the slider bags tend to last far longer since the extra strain and tension put on the plastic is greatly lessened. There's also less tendency for the bags themselves to accidentally develop a blow-out at the top.
I love these ideas and they're not so complicated that you can't sew them by hand. Thank you very much. I would recommend, on the tiny pot holder, using a blind stitch but I guess it's not necessary since you're tucking that side in. I think I'll make my granddaughters a little purse but I might try crocheting the strap with matching yarn. Thank you again for the great ideas.❤❤❤❤
That last idea with the strap could be sewn in series to make a space saving wall hanging. Especially in a tiny home or rv. You could use it to hold things like sandwich bags, grocery bags, cookie cutters and other easily misplaced odds and ends even display artificial flowers . It could hold toys and craft supplies for visiting grandchildren or make it a hanging diaper change station for a new baby ❤. And you could make one for each holiday season as a useful decoration ❤
Eeeeeee!!! I love them. I have to make the eye glasses case!!! Ty!!!! Eeeeeee! Ur so cute! Gonna make some for hubby too!!! Love your Eeeeee. Never stop that.
This is actually very inspirational. I really like the concept of the second project, but I would try to find a way to make it more durable. Maybe wrap the ziplocks in decorative duct tape first or something. I love the idea!
Just posted part 2!! ruclips.net/video/mhG8dllmM8g/видео.htmlsi=gtjXWTiA2fIg2YXq

sew your button on with dental floss, it never breaks. Your projects were so cute.
Great idea. Never thought to use dental floss. ❤
How brilliant is this??? Muchas gracias
Not all floss is strong. Check before you spend the time
Try fishing line. It's super strong and invisible!
Not waxed floss!😸

I started mine out as a mini car first aid kit with bandaids, alcohol wipes, aspirin, etc, and added a lot of what you had in yours as time went on
I have been using the same one for almost 10 years.

What?! 😳😳😳 mind blown! Thank you!
Wow, great idea
Or a hot knife - heat the blade and place on the plastic to seal it
Also, if you have a little bag sealer, that would be worth trying.
What do you do with the bag that you ✂️ the webbing off of

Love these ideas Colette! You are so funny and enlightening! Love the little lid holders! Have to make them❤😊👍
I don't like allot of crafts but i may just do the first one. I hate my towels always falling off my oven handle. Thank you for the excitement you show. It really lifted me up.
You gave me an idea: How about making a hot bowl holder and include a soup packet with a bowl or mug as a small gift? (Please consider showing how to make a hot bowl holder that can be used in the microwave.) Thanks!
yes! super great idea♥
Yes..the microwave bowl holder
She has done this.
Just remember to use 100% cotton everything! 😊
Great ideas.
Thank you!!❤
How do you make sheets with old clothes? Sounds great but I can't picture it.
You are so fun to listen to! What a blessing of a spirit!!!❤
Aw, thanks so much! That means a lot 😊
I am so glad found your channel. You're a hoot!
I love your attitude and energy❣️ Done is better than perfect in quilting, painting, and any other craft that brings you or others joy. 💖
Ran across your video and decided to watch. Great pot holder ideas !! Now I'm subscribed. 🌹🌹🌹
Great ideas 🎉But I mostly enjoy watching you because of your upbeat attitude! You seem like a super cool person ❤
You are so sweet! Thank you for watching!
You make this DYI so easy and fun! I’ll have to try it!!!
Oh my gosh I LOVE the hanging towl idea!! So simple yet so efficient! I'm mindblown lol. I'm so doing this! Maybe it will stop my husband from using the cute ones on messy things. 🤦♀️
I love the gnome pot holders! All great ideas Collette! I love watching you videos.
Yessssss! Done is Better Than Perfect! This spike to my soul and made me smile!!🥰🥰🥰
Maybe use snack size ziplock baggies so you don’t have to cut off excess. Just a suggestion🤔🙂
Yes, they work perfectly.
The thing is that snack size bags aren't made with the slider closure, unfortunately.
@@RaeCarson When I have made them, I didn't want slide closures. It bulks them up. I made them for homeless men and women to hold personal items.
While it does make them slightly bulkier, the slider bags tend to last far longer since the extra strain and tension put on the plastic is greatly lessened. There's also less tendency for the bags themselves to accidentally develop a blow-out at the top.
that was my thought also
Your enthusiasm and sense of humor make your videos so fun to watch! I won’t be making any of these projects, but you are a hoot ❤
Thank you for sharing your crafts with us. They are brilliant, I with definitely make the towel. Very enjoyable.
You are so fun in your crafts . I’d rather have it done than perfect too. I’m not at all judging your great ideas
You are SO FUN!!! 1ST time watching. ❤ Thank you
I am soooo not surprised you have a heart shaped pot. You are just too stinkin adorable! You make my day whenever I see your videos.
Where did you get the heart shaped pot?
You are right! Done is perfect!
😂😂 I never know how many knots to sew too! It’s the same with spaghetti noodles 😆
You have given me an idea for a case to keep my glasses when I'm not using them. I'll find out if it's the right size pot holder, 👍
My grandkids can make these for Christmas presents. Last year my grandson gave me a beautiful rock. Upgrades are always good.
They’re also good for the younger kids to make that aren’t old enough to use a machine, or those who don’t have a machine!
I just learned a genius hack for knotting the thread at the beginning. Thanks
This is actually very inspirational. I really like the concept of the second project, but I would try to find a way to make it more durable. Maybe wrap the ziplocks in decorative duct tape first or something. I love the idea!
These are so great! I think these will be great for “summer camp” crafts with my grandkids. Thanks!!
The gnome purse was so cute 🥰
