@the1ucidone Honestly I think it's the story. So many artists have the same inspiration, so their songs sound the same over and over. Coheed has new stories to tell with new ground to tread, and I feel like that keeps their music fresh because they're pulling from somewhere different every time. They keep their sound, but the aesthetics of characters and emotions call for different songs, so they just keep delivering. True artists, man, they're a wonder.
THIS IS WHAT I HAVE BEEN MISSING! First off let me say I been a Coheed fan since SSTB came out. I am 35 years old now. I love Coheed & been a major soundtrack to my entire life. The last full album that I was fully obsessed with from them was Afterman Ascension & Decension. Didn’t particularly enjoy Color Before The Sun. Then Vaxis 1 Unheavenly Creatures came & I was so happy - especially “Dark Sentencer”& “The Gutter” which gave me CLASSIC Coheed vibes. Vaxis 2 I really only found myself playing “cut the cord” which again gave me nostalgic quintessential Coheed sound that I love!! Great tune. So for this new album, I was conflicted on the first single - I loved the music & guitar & how hard it rocked - but I did not like Coheed vocals or the melody at all in that song. Especially as a single. But THIS SONG RIGHT HERE - “searching for tomorrow” has it all - Travis’ lead guitar back in full effect - Claudio sounds incredible & classic catchy chorus. Best Coheed song for me since Vaxis 1 songs.
This is the Coheed I truly miss. I love everything Claudio creates, but this song inspires me to pick up my guitar again, dedicate an entire weekend to learning it, and keep playing it for the next 20 years.

This is honestly their best song since The Unheavenly Creatures album … didn’t necessarily love the sound of the Vaxis II album, but this reminds me of nostalgic Coheed again
one of the most harmonically diverse and interesting Coheed songs. Truly unstable throughout those verses, then that totally consonant chorus. Sounding great. The band haven't stopped pushing themselves from day one. Excited as a mother for this!
Gravemakers and Gunslingers off the fourth album has always given me Dark Tower vibes, but this one definitely does too. With all the reality hopping that occurs in both stories, it would not surprise me to find references here as well

In the Deluxe Edition's art/story book for Vaxis II, Vaxis pulls Sirius Amory out from the void. He's grown very old since The Afterman days (makes sense since Afterman is a prequel) It's possible we'll be dealing with keywork stuff for sure!

That felt like the past and the present colliding the way the Fiction met the Real back in GAIBSIV days. Also, I don't know if the video has any lore (other than the callbacks and references), but where Vaxis is said to be basically able to perceive all of existence but not be a part of it (up until around the end of the Window album/story), it almost feels like either Vaxis or some 'anti-Vaxis' type of being (clearly the same one or one like him from "Sonny") trying to get to the root of the Fence/the Five Houses' origins - not the Crowing, not Ryan, not the Writer, but the true Claudio.
As a Coheed fan since 2004 I can say without reservation that this is the single best video they've ever made. The way this ties into the fiction is so fucking good.
Now this is the song that has me hyped for VAXIS III. I have no worries that the new album will hold me over during the summer till the third cruise in November.
Coheed has always been my favorite band. I didn’t find them until 2004. I was a little late to the show but I don’t get to see them live until 2023. They are the best live band I’ve ever seen and it had no bias involved. My wife and I will always share the bond of seeing this band and swaying together to the jams. Hope you guys come back to the Kemba Live!
An absolute banger song, one of my favorites in recent memory instantly sonically. The animation was amazing, like a blend of armory wars comic style and adult swim cartoons, or even the old animated movie Heavy Metal at times. What a blast that video is, I'm gonna be gushing over this one for a while.

God I absolutely adore that discordant rising guitar riff. The amount of musical themes they bridge throughout their music is just so musically satisfying like no other band.
Super different sound for you guys. That classical sounding musical break/solo with the ascending crescendo was amazing! This album is sounding and looking like it's taking a more fun/adventurous tone this time around.
I really like this. The guitars are on point and in front where they deserve to be, and it's got an extra touch of pop sensibility. It's a nice call back to the first few albums but doesn't feel like a retread. Coheed is easily one of my favorite prog bands and one of my favorite bands in general

Coheed has always been my favorite band. I didn’t find them until 2004. I was a little late to the show but I don’t get to see them live until 2023. They are the best live band I’ve ever seen and it had no bias involved. My wife and I will always share the bond of seeing this band and swaying together to the jams. Hope you guys come back to the Kemba Live!

An absolute banger song, one of my favorites in recent memory instantly sonically. The animation was amazing, like a blend of armory wars comic style and adult swim cartoons, or even the old animated movie Heavy Metal at times. What a blast that video is, I'm gonna be gushing over this one for a while.

God I absolutely adore that discordant rising guitar riff. The amount of musical themes they bridge throughout their music is just so musically satisfying like no other band.

Super different sound for you guys. That classical sounding musical break/solo with the ascending crescendo was amazing! This album is sounding and looking like it's taking a more fun/adventurous tone this time around.
I really like this. The guitars are on point and in front where they deserve to be, and it's got an extra touch of pop sensibility. It's a nice call back to the first few albums but doesn't feel like a retread. Coheed is easily one of my favorite prog bands and one of my favorite bands in general

So much time has passed and such epic distances traversed since The Amory Wars, yet still putting out quality content. STILL. Every other band has let me down, or still is doing so. Meanwhile Coheed moves forward so naturally, with ease. Looking to be a lifelong soundtrack over here. Bravo.
The only band that can never go wrong is Coheed and Cambria. Another masterpiece.
