I used to use a long arm that I rented from a friend to do my Quilting with. I recently learned how to use my embroidery machine to do edge to edge quilting with beautiful designs. You might want to check out how to do that because it’s a lot cheaper than having to buy a long arm and it is so easy to do and the quilts turn out beautifully. I just found your channel and I love the table runner that you just made.
I love piecing my blocks individually, my choice of quilting is “Quilting As You Go”. There are tons of tutorial videos on you tube. It saves me a lot of money. Hope this helps especially if you do not have an embroidery machine.
I love how you present your video. Slow enough to understand and fast enough to get through it. I have some old blouses and material from Grandmothers and plan to make the Grandchildren table runners for the holidays. Thank you 🌞
Thank you for your kind words and I'm so glad you enjoyed the tutorial. What a lovely idea, your grandchildren will love their table runners. We do have a childrens table runner and place mat tutorial that you may also like - here is the link www.alandacraft.com/2022/04/30/kids-placemats-and-table-runner-tutorial/
I would have wrapped the back around as a binding, using 1 and 1/2 inch allowance to fold over twice. Much simpler and a glue stick makes it even easier to iron the binding down before stitching. It’s also stronger since it is part of the back fabric and there are less seams to fray or unravel.
Thank you for this tutorial. I really liked how you trimmed the edges with the larger part of the ruler on the fabric. I've seen so many quilters place the ruler on the mat with just a tiny bit on the fabric. I always think that it might not be truly on grain. Maybe they don't want to have to turn the fabric. Your directions are so thoughtful and clear. Great video!
Love the pattern and instructions. Going to make the table runner for a dear friend’s daughter for her and her husband’s first Thanksgiving in their new home.
I like your Christmas video. Your instructions are clear, not too fast and I like the fact that you show the quarter inch line with your hand very clear very precise. I give you a thumbs up girl.❤️❗️👍👍 Actually, two of them ‼️🤗
I love this quick and easy table runner! Thank you so much for sharing your pattern. It is a beautiful Christmas gift and it would be fun to make coordinating napkins too!
Lovely table runner, and like others have commented, it would make a beautiful quilt too! Thank you for this idea. I have some autumn fabrics that will make a beautiful Thanksgiving project.
I think it will look lovely in autumn fabrics. We are thinking of making a video for a quilt using this method, just need to choose some fabrics (you know - the fun part)
Thank you for this. I was searching for some easy and quick Christmassy items and this will be a hit I'm sure. P.S. Do you have a Christmas stocking video? I'm always interested in seeing how different quilters make them.
We have quite a few Christmas ideas and you can check them out on the website or the playlist here in RUclips. But alas, as yet I haven't made a Christmas stocking, I will put it on the to do list.
Thanks for the great, easy pattern. I simply LOVE your beautiful pincushion‼️. I’ve seen it in other of your videos and finally commented on it. Any chance you have the pattern so I could create one for myself? Thank you for your delightful tutorials 😁
Thank you for your lovely comment Linda 😊. The stained glass window effect was made on our embroidery machine. Here is the link to the tutorial on how it was created in Embird: www.alandacraft.com/2014/10/24/embird-studio-tutorial-stained-glass-patchwork-square-digitize-the-design/. I don't have a full tutorial on making the pin cushion. I just took the piece that I created, added a backing and stuffed it with fibre fill. Here is the link to the stitch out www.alandacraft.com/2014/10/24/embird-studio-tutorial-stained-glass-patchwork-square-part-1-stitchout/. I will put making a pin cushion on the to do list.
This is the Big Easy Quilting ruler Cheryl. There is a link in the description field below this video for where it can be purchased. I absolutely love it.
I personally think it works best with non-directional. As the strips get turned around you could end up with some patterns upside down. If that's not an issue for you then by all means use what you have on hand.
We also just added it to the Members Only Community section so you don't need to go to the website. Here's the link: ruclips.net/user/alandacraftmembership
I signed up for the newsletter in order to get the free pdf pattern. However when I downloaded the pattern, it turned out to be a 'QUILT PLANNER' pdf and NOT the table runner pattern!! Please help me to get the pattern. Thank you.
Hi Rebecca. The pattern is more or less there on the video. Alanda gives the measurements and shows the fabric being cut on her mat and it's easy to follow. An actual printed pattern isn't really needed when all this information is on the video. It looks like a very nice table runner and I'll be making a couple myself. Good luck with yours.
We're happy to send you the pattern but we need your email address to do that. DON'T add your email here, go to the website and send it through the Contact Us link - www.alandacraft.com/contact/. Otherwise you will be inundated with spam.
I like to trim the batting and the top piece before using the backing as a self trim as well. Is that cheating? I just have a hard time with small edging. I guess it's my inexperience, but it seems to work. Thank you for this video. I've gone Christmas crazy, I'm afraid, so this will help me use up a lot of my fabric!
Thank you for the suggestion Patricia 😊. lol, no it's not cheating. This method is not something I have tried as yet. It's never too early to start making gifts for Christmas especially when the year flies by as quickly as this one has.

How do you do it? 🪡

I would also love to know how you do this!!
@@SewWhittle if you meant using your embroidery machine I’ll be back with a you tube tutorial.

Absolutely GORGEOUS!!!!!!!

I think that's a great idea Elizabeth, thank you 😊. We'll look at getting a video done for that.
Beautiful table runner! Very nicely explained and demonstrated. Thanks for sharing! 💜
I love your pattern instructions!! Makes me feel so capable ❤❤❤
Thank you Theresa 😊
I can listen to you all day! Thank you for the tutorial!
Thank you for your lovely comment 😊
This was a great tutorial! Now if only I could get all the junk off my table so I could use a table runner...
Love the idea of placemats!
😂, I know the feeling. I had to clear a board game off the table to make room just to take photos.
Love the simplicity! Tomorrow is my day to make one of these!
I’m so glad you enjoyed it Sherry, have fun 😊.
I really enjoy your tutorials, great presentations. Thanks for sharing!
Thank you Connie 😊

You are a natural teacher. Thanks
Thank you for your lovely comment Edith 😊. I'm glad to hear you like the tutorials.
Love the red/white one. So pretty.
Have to confess, it's my favourite as well.

Thank you for the suggestion Claire 😊. I haven't tried finishing off a quilt using that method so I will give it a go in the future.
I have done that, but my longarmer said that method of binding does not look professional.
A GREAT IDEA! THANKS!
That blue fabric is gorgeous
They are beautiful! Thanks for sharing ❤
Beautiful table runners and such a simple design and beginner friendly 😊
I’ll be making some of these as gifts 🎁 - score for the win!

Lovely
My sister in law also does beautifully quilting with her embroidery machine
Love this! What kind of ruler are you using?
This is the Big Easy Quilting ruler Cheryl. There is a link in the description field below this video for where it can be purchased. I absolutely love it.
I think she knows where my stash is. I have most of the same fabic😊❤
I noticed your fabrics are nondirectional. Is that important for this lovely runner?
