I love all the fabric choices! I had to watch your binding method twice. I've done the half width trimming and sometimes it works, well you know the rest. So I may try again. But I finally got it right another way. I love the chevron and left over ideas. Thank you, Kris! Marion
It‘s really fun to watch your videos! You always seem so excited about what you are making. Your process and tips are very helpful! Thanks for taking us along!
Lovely placemats! Your pin method is new to me and I've been quilting for a long time. I am definitely gonna try it on my next quilt and I feel that it will become my go to method!
Like a flange binding? I like that too, but this is still my favorite way to do it. Missouri Star has the best flanging binding video! Love their technique for it.
I just love the table runners Kris. Same pattern, lots of lovely looks. I like the one and a quarter inch binding. I always find two inches folded over etc. is a little bulky and wide. I will try this binding width soon as next month I am sewing placemats, with a jelly roll, I might add. Loved this video.
I love watching your tutorials! They are always easy to follow and understand! The table runners are all beautiful and will make great Christmas gifts!!❤
I LOVE THIS!!! I’m thinking I will skip it tho, I get so mixed up and it looks kind of hard. Ty for a beautiful video! I absolutely love the finished runners!!!!
When I’m working on point, I stay stitch the edge before cutting. However, Karen Brown has a better idea. She irons strips of freezer paper 1/4” from the edge before sewing to stabilize the bias edge.
Great ideas! I haven't have much luck with either of these methods. I get puckers when I do that, especially with a block like this since it is all straight grain. I think you have to do what works for you, however! Great tips!
You're right - so, so pretty! This was a great tutorial! I have a jelly roll in mind for this, and I might make a table runner that's a little bit longer than yours.
Thank you! Did you like the Christmas ones? They are my favorite! Although I do love the purples. And the Halloween one. And the fall. LOL! I love them all! Thanks so much for watching and sharing!
Thank you! This is the first time I have actually seen anyone apply a single layer binding! I have always used a 2 1/2” binding. I will be trying this on my next table runner. I love your runners!
So glad you love it! I thought about that but then it would meet the objectives in this video which were 1.) super easy, even for beginners and 2.) using 2.5” precut strips. I hope this helps under where I’m coming from on this one. Maybe I’ll use setting triangles in a future video. Thanks for sharing!
Love the Iris and ivy jelly roll. Had one years ago. I will have to dig it out and use it, like you I thought it’s too pretty to use. Great tutorial. Thanks 😊
Great tutorial. I like to fill in the triangular edges on my on point quilts rather than trim off the pattern pieces. If they are cut correctly it gives straight of grain edges rather than bias edges because I always seem to stretch bias edges even if I sew a victory lap around the edge.
Yeah, I thought about doing this video with setting triangles but then it wouldn’t be easy and it wouldn’t use 2.5” strips from a jelly roll. Maybe I’ll do that in another video. It definitely helps with the stretch although this is manageable, too. Thanks for sharing! ❤️
Thank you! I love doing it that way. It is actually the way I learned to do it nearly 30 years ago. It is so much easier than double fold binding, if my opinion.
Love the fabric line you used. The purple & green combo is a favorite of mine. On the binding width, do you prefer the single fold approach across the board on all quilting projects? I am a newbie and haven't done binding yet. Thanks for sharing a great tutorial!
I do! I find it to be much easier when adding binding and the project edges are flatter. For quilts, it makes the edges less pokey and more cuddly, too. I hope this helps!
What kind of sewing table do you have? Is it made specifically for your machine or is it for any machine? Thanks! GREAT video, by the way!!! I have lots of jelly rolls!! Will be trying this!
Your tutorial is very interesting and easy to follow. I have never been one for table runners but would like to try it as a throw size quilt. Would one jelly roll be sufficient or would I need more?
I think one jelly roll would work. The biggest issue would be making sure you had equal lights and darks to get the zigzag look, but you could always use cut yardage to supplement the fabric, if necessary. So glad you enjoyed the tutorial! Thank you for watching!
Your table runner is lovely but sorry, I’m not turning It over. The backing fabric is too pretty to hide 😊. It’s a fun project to practice sewing and quilting blocks on point. Thanks for sharing!
You are so welcome! Isn't that fabric on the back great? I love putting those surprises in my projects. It makes them extra special. So happy you enjoyed this! Thank you for watching!
Oh, I can see how that might be confusing. The full piece is the one without a seam in it. I wish I could add a photo here. If you want to email me, I can send a photo to explain it better. My email address is info@sewthedistance,com.

Thank you so much! That is so sweet! 🥰 I love this stuff. I’m thrilled it shows on camera. ❤️
Awesome, great project and very good use of left over scraps. Love it. Thanks for sharing.
My pleasure! Thank you so much for watching! I love those little projects, too!
This is such a cool project. I love the lint roller tip! I might finally have to use the jelly roll I have in the closet to try this out!
You are going to love it! It is such a fun one to make. ❤️
Great video! 💙
Lovely placemats! Your pin method is new to me and I've been quilting for a long time. I am definitely gonna try it on my next quilt and I feel that it will become my go to method!
You are so welcome! Yay! I am so happy it helps!
I like the faux binding, my favorite but more work, lol
Like a flange binding? I like that too, but this is still my favorite way to do it. Missouri Star has the best flanging binding video! Love their technique for it.
Great project ideas Kris and having secondary projects is a bonus❤
Thank you! So glad you like both of them. ❤️
Great tutorial! All of the table runners are pretty but I love the Iris & Ivy!
Thanks so much! 😊

Thanks so much, Sue! I know I owe you an email. Where does the time go? Writing soon!
I love watching your tutorials! They are always easy to follow and understand! The table runners are all beautiful and will make great Christmas gifts!!❤
Thank you so much!
YES! They would be great for Christmas, wouldn't they? So happy you enjoyed this!
Glad to see you make it on point and trim it without all those pesky setting triangles.
You are so right! They can be a pain, haha! 😄
Kris's energy is always catchy. I love watching her and soaking up her energy and creativity😊
Hi! This is Kris. Thank you SO much! You are so sweet!
You are easy to understand. Thank you for a sweet table runner idea.
Oh, thank you! So sweet!! Glad this is helpful!
Beautiful. Thank you for sharing

@@SewtheDistance I may try your idea soon
Beautiful table runners, Kris! Thanks for the tutorial. Waiting for your next "lesson from an old quilt" video! 😊
You are so welcome! I am working on the next episode! 🥰 Stay tuned!

Purple and cream...this girl's dream! great job. Love a smaller project, and that you showed the whole process from start to finish.
You are so welcome! So happy it was helpful!
I actually have the Iris and Ivy Jelly roll and 4 mini charm packs! 😊
OH! I love when that happens! YAY!
You're right - so, so pretty! This was a great tutorial! I have a jelly roll in mind for this, and I might make a table runner that's a little bit longer than yours.
Yay! I love a longer table runner too! Great idea!
Awesome tutorials 😊👏🏽🙌🏽
Thanks so much! I am glad you like it! 😄
This was awesome ❤
Thank you! So glad you like it!
I love the table runner ❤
Great pattern
Thank you! I am so glad you like it! 🥰
Very pretty. Thanks for sharing
Thank you! I am so glad you like it!
While the colours aren’t “my cup of tea”, I adore this idea! I’m thinking all white fabric but with woven in texture. Sort of jacquard.
Thank you! Did you like the Christmas ones? They are my favorite! Although I do love the purples. And the Halloween one. And the fall. LOL! I love them all! Thanks so much for watching and sharing!
@ the christmas colours are indeed lovely! Purple is not my “thing”. Ironically, it’s my husband’s favourite colour.
I adore your approach, variables ❤. Jelly roll +1 fat quarter if one is anxious about miscutting.
Thanks! Great idea! Perfect way to get started!
I enjoy your videos!😊
YAY! So glad you like them! Thank you for watching!
Thank you! This is the first time I have actually seen anyone apply a single layer binding! I have always used a 2 1/2” binding. I will be trying this on my next table runner. I love your runners!
You are going to love it! It makes a really nice finish.❤️
Everytime you say "Isn’t it pretty?" I say YES!
LOL! I love it! So glad you think it is pretty, too! 🥰
not sure if you realize you are not looking into the camera
but love your processes and always watch you
I’m blind in one eye, so if it is ever facing the camera, it’s an accident. Loll! So glad you like the video.
Can’t wait to do this. Love your instructions.
Thanks so much! I’m glad you found them helpful!
Very pretty. I was thinking four place mats and using the scraps to make an extra for the middle of the table.
That’s a great idea! I love the way you think!
Love your purple/cream table runner just gorgeous ❤
Thank you! This fabric is amazing, isn't it?
Beautiful table runners!
Thanks so much! I love making them! 🥰
from Gerry- This is so easy and so pretty. Can't wait to make one. Thanks and God bless.
Thank you, Gerry! I'm so glad you are going to make one!
Hi Kris! Love the colors in that jelly roll! Table runners are what I do in between projects or when I need a break. I love this ❤️
Thanks so much! I'm glad you like it! I love making table runners, too.
I love ❤️ the fabrics you used!! Why don't you use side setting triangles to keep it squared and not waste the fabric by cutting it off?
So glad you love it! I thought about that but then it would meet the objectives in this video which were 1.) super easy, even for beginners and 2.) using 2.5” precut strips. I hope this helps under where I’m coming from on this one. Maybe I’ll use setting triangles in a future video. Thanks for sharing!
Brilliant tutorial, thanks Kris. Love the jelly roll and the table runner is just gorgeous x
Thanks so much! 😊
Loved this video! So many pretty fabrics, so many Ideas. And I love this pattern. Thanks, Kris, for doing all of this for us.
You are so welcome! I'm happy you liked it! 🥰
So cute!!!! Thanks for the encouragement on sewing together the last bit of binding. It’s the scariest section!
You are so welcome! You can do it! It will become second nature after a few times. I promise!
Really do enjoy the way you teach and share❤
That’s so sweet! I am glad you like it! 🥰

Me too! We are all hot messes sometimes! 😄
I’m so happy to see how you did your binding… You explained it perfectly.
You are so welcome! I try to make things as clear as I can. So happy it is helpful!
That is such a beautiful jelly roll.
Isn't it? Love it, too!
Very nice project...and I learned a new binding technique to try! Always fun watching your videos. Thanks!
You are so welcome! I am glad you enjoyed it!
So lovely.

I really enjoyed this tutorial and the tips for the scraps. I'd like to do this in Christmas fabrics. Thank you!
Patriotic fabrics would be pretty too
Great idea! So many possibilities!

@@SewtheDistance you are 100% correct it definitely makes it more difficult. I like your idea of quilting before trimming as that will stabilise it.
Thank you! It works well, but as I always say, there are so many ways to make a quilt (or table runner, in this case.). 🥰
I really love your videos as I always learn something new. I love your voice and how upbeat you are.❤
Thank you so much! I love making these videos! 😊
I LOVE you enthusiast presentation. I can’t wait for your videos. This “ on point” has me a little nervous but I might try a placemat.
You’re going to do great! I love placemats and they are so fun to make. 😊
Love your color choices just beautiful
