If you did the "Skirt" before doing the bias binding on the neck you could do it while the top is inside out and then "turn" it through the neck-hole, iron it down nicely then do the neckline. That way you can sew the skirt on with the raw edges all lined up and one straight stitch catches all three layers.

I make these a lot, but mine are a little different from yours. I actually sew the neck hole first, then turn to the right side and roll one side up so I can put right sides together on the other side and do the side seams, one at a time (kinda hard to explain, but it works!). Nice to see a different way to make them.

Thank you! Now to find something that will work for guys...and yes, a far cry from the crocheted tops on terry kitchen towels I did 40 years ago. :) Blessings!

    Hello,
I stumbled onto yr page & liked this idea for gift givin! 😀👍
I noticed you grabbed a pair of tweezers to punch out the corners of your fabric. As a great tool that I've found in my years of sewin, I bought ivory chopsticks. Yes, you can buy plastic ones, or wooden ones, however I hv found that the ivory are very delicate to ANY fabric... yess, so iis plastic. Just be sure the plastic chopsticks don't have a raised seam that will pull on delicate fabrics... I have filed it down very carefully in my past before buying the ivory.

I agree. People are used to "made n China" prices. Fabric, even at 50% off takes away much profit. I made a set of pillowcases for a friend using the burrito method so there are no raw seams inside. She liked them and suggested I make them to sell.. But it took some time and caused some physical aches and pains to so I make only for people that are sew worthy.
I have read that people get upset that some sell their creations so inexpenseively so they cannot sell at a better price. But some sew things for a creative way to reduce stress. Some then donate their makes to charity or sell mostly to cover costs so they can keep busy sewing.

This would make an adorable doll dress. U could make a slit in the back bodice and add a button and loop closer. 😉👍

I used to make my baby girls summer sets like this.of course I did not make the top dress length & then made "panties" to match or contrast. One year made the girls a solid dk blue basic dress, then a white iolet(sp?) apron to cover it. The apron was this pattern. They were adorable. One of my favorite family pictures in this outfit. ❤

I purchased it from a quilt shop, but I can’t remember which one anymore - lol. It is an Oliso iron, so maybe try googling where they can be purchased near you. Or perhaps ask your local quilt shop to see if they can bring one in for you!

I'm rethinking this pattern. I think this pattern could best used for doll clothing with a few adjustments. What do you think? Also, I would of liked to seen how you placed this in your kitchen. Can you send a picture? You are a good sewing instructor. I enjoyed watching. Where do you purchase your tea towels? Do you wash and and dry your fabric and tea towels before sewing the project? I'm a quilter so I wash all and dry all fabrics before beginning my project.

Hi Lisa, while I cannot send a photo on this comment feed, I do show how it hangs from the oven door handle via a dowel. You undo the side ribbons, slip it over the oven door handle and then re-tie the bows do it stays on 😊

@@KCQuilting I think that could a safety hazard. I won't do that. I'm going to try and work it as a doll clothing pattern instead.
