Thank You 💐 Thank You I not only finished 2 "Trial" towels by using an old hand towel🎉 BUT🎉... Learned how to use my Auto-Buttonholer. Last, but not least, I learned what that funny Blue presser foot was for 😂 Yes, I did attach my very first button via machine after 56 years of sewing🎉 Thanks again for this Tutorial❣️ It was Beyond Excellent 💖
Interesting! Cutting the towel in half first wouldn't have occurred to me. Nice tip on how to align the button before sewing it on, too. I'm glad to have found this video; the sewist from whom I used to buy pot holders, hanging towels, and aprons moved to the other side of the country (I know, how very dare of her, LOL!) so I'm using RUclips to learn how to make my own. Your tutorial is very clear; now I just need to buy some towels so I can add the toppers to them 🙂
@@leighreid1476 I had an old one that was damaged, so I took the towel off it and traced around it to make a template. It's about 10" tall, and 8" across the bottom.
The best tutorial I have seen on making a towel holder and I have watched 90% of the tutorials. Yours is definitely the best and I will be making these for christmas. I made a pattern which I changed the top to have a point on the hanger much like a pocket on a western shirt.
Thank you Debbie, for making the old fashioned versions my Grandma used to have in her kitchen. I don’t care for the modern square type that everyone seems to be doing. Thank you very much. Oh and I love the color choices you picked.
Such an easy process. Wonderful video!! While viewing your video I had a thought. Instead of using a button why not replace with velcro? Still using the button on the front and sewing velcro on the underside of the flap instead of the buttonhole . Then the other velcro piece where the button would have gone. Whew. Just a thought.
Thank you for taking the time to show us these amazing towels!! I can’t wait to get some downtime to make some for family & friends and to sell For special holidays!
I am an advanced seamstress with many years of experience. I liked your ideas very much but would suggest stitching at least 2 rows of gathering threads. That will do 2 things. One, it will help avoid a disappointing break. Two, it will give you a nicer band for attaching.
The bobbin thread gathers better than the top thread. Also two rows of gathering stitches prevents most of the thread breakage. Rather than gathering the terrycloth, I like to pleat the toweling. It’s less bulky.
I use a couple of rows of gathering seams for strength and one can also use nylon thread in this case because it will slide in the towel fibers easier.
thank you for all of your explanations. But since I'm a beginner, I had to go look up a video that explained what you were doing or rather HOW you did the basting and gathering on the towel. Other than that, I love your videos and plan on doing a few of these projects (towels, basket, purse). So again, thank you.
Nice 👍 really clear instructions! Thanks. It would be fun to have a blue button for the pink-view flap closure, as contrast. Mr. Domestic more recently (in last couple years) posted a similar tutorial but for gathering the towel use the machine to handle all gathering. Advantage to the old school method is more direct control on how the gathers are placed.
Absolutely love this video :-) thank you for sharing :-) can i please ask a few questions?? Firstly what measurements are the towel & the 2 peices of cut out fabric?? As i am making 1 tonight & am new to a sewing machine, lol, i have made various things this week with my new sewing machine, but i really want to try this 1 tonight :-) i have everything infront of me right now (apart from your measurements) lol, so im not going to get very far without them xx
+Yvonne Sluce Right underneath the video in the description box is the link to the pattern download. I'm not sure if you can see that on a cell phone etc so here is the link again. Download the free pattern at www.littlehouseliving.com/homemade-hand-towel.html
these are really cute, will be making them soon. I have a question :) the other day I found a cute cover for my serger Brother 1034D It was bright yellow with spring flowers on it. I can not find that pattern anywhere on your site. Can you help me find it ?
I am so making these for my foyer bathroom! Guest always seem to drop the hand towels on the floor and leave them. Thank you! I was just about to give up on entertaining.
That was great i enjoyed that lesson
Thanks for sharing.
Beautifull
I love these towels. Every time I change my kitchen colors, I make some more.
Thank You 💐 Thank You

Pinking shears work well for curved edges also
Never mind. I've just got the pattern. Thank you 😊

Did you just print the pattern off on A4 size paper and use it? I don’t know what size it should be?

@@susanowen1709 thanks!! I love it! Reminds me of the ones my nanna used to have and I can’t find any to buy so Im making my own
I like the fact that you don’t spend time with useless information 👏. Nicely done. I might have to use a fastener in place of the button 🥺
Glad it was helpful!
Excellent job. Cleat and easy directions
Glad you liked it!

What size did you make your pattern piece? I just printed it off onto A4 paper. Is that right?
Thank you, this tutorial is just what I was looking for!
Oh I love this idea... makes such a cool hostess or special gift too

so pretty and easy
excellent. I have never made a button hole before!!!
I used interfacing in the inside then used a snap
This is by far the best/easiest and best looking hanging towel tutorial! Thank you!

I’ve used some with Velcro. Easy process, but is areal mess in the wash attaching to other objects. Decided I’d never use the Velcro.
Very nice and neat work
Is there a printable pattern for the too pieces?
where to find the pattern. Love the kitchen hand towel, but can not get the pattern
With the pattern, what measurements should it be? I printed it onto A4 paper. Should I just cut it out and use that size?
What does the reverse side look like? TIA
Where do you get the topper patterns please?
I can’t find the free pattern !
TYSM😘
Where is tutorial for making buttonhole please .
The pattern link no longer exists for the towel topper.
Nice and beautiful...like it
I made your cosmetic bag with a strap for a crossbody bag.?
Where can I find your template
Can't find the pattern
Thank you! Wonderful tutorial!
I was taught to use two basting lines instead of one. Makes a stronger pulling string for gathering
3/8
Good

This is an excellent video. I'd like to make a pattern. What are the measurements of the top piece?
I loved this tutorial. You're voice is so calm and relaxing. Very clear instructions and I can't wait to try this!!!
Nice idea
How big was your original towel? And after it was cut in half- how big was the piece?
The bobbin thread gathers better than the top thread. Also two rows of gathering stitches prevents most of the thread breakage. Rather than gathering the terrycloth, I like to pleat the toweling. It’s less bulky.
Very nice
Thank you for sharing this video. What type of fabric did you use for the hanger pls? And what other types would you recommend? Ty
Please refer the measurements &show how are stitching, its not clear
Using button thread in your bobbin works fabulously when gathering. No wax, little fraying, and strong enough to gather without breaking.
Very nice!

I just loved. Thanks dear.
Excellent...enjoyed making them.....makes nice gifts...
Where did you get the over sized towel that allowed for 2 to be made?
Its just a regular sized towel I bought in my local linens shop. But plenty big enough to use to make two of these hanging hand towels.
@@SoSewEasy Would have been great if you could have added the size of the towel you used, they all differ and this one you did made a nice size!
