Snow, Sun and Steam - Severn Valley Railway Spring Steam Gala - 2018

- Spring should have sprung by the weekend of the Severn Valley Railway Spring Steam Gala, but instead there was mixed weather conditions of harsh bitter winds, rain and snow, as well as some sunshine at times! The strong winds and heavy snow made for a difficult time trying to film, but this didn't deter many from getting amazing scenes in the snow over the Sunday. The gala was mainly Eastern themed, although it had a Western feel at times with 6023, 53808 and the home locos. Big well done to the gala organisers and the volunteers on the line for such a good event in the conditions and for the quick replacement for 1264 in the form of 53808.
Locos that attended the gala were:
- GWR 14xx Class 1450
- ex-GWR 1500 Class 1501
- ex-GWR 6000 Class 6023 'King Edward II'
- ex-GWR 5700 Class 7714
- LNER B12 8572
- ex-LMS 7F 53808 (replacing LNER B1 1264)
- LNER A1 60163 'Tornado'
- BR Standard 4 Tank 80072

Amazing scenes, you captured them superbly, great shots of the locomotives working hard from 8572 to 80072 to 6023!
I also like how you spaced them out and changed between locos, most people seem to have sections of locos which I find a shame, so thank you for doing that.
JBTEvans Thanks! I was going to do coverage of each loco along the line in separate parts, but the snow would mess up the continuity so decided to go with random shots. In a way, I do feel like random shots are more entertaining as you don't know what you'll see next! Tom
