- Late April saw the Severn Valley Railway putting on their first major event of the year, as they held their spring steam gala from Thursday 21st to Sunday 24th. Three guest locos joined the home fleet, the first of these being Didcot Railway Centre's new-build Saint Class No.2999 'Lady of Legend', marking its second appearance on the line after a successful visit last year. Next up is the Mid Hants Railway's S15 No.506, this being its first trip away from its Hampshire home since returning to service in 2019.
Lastly, LNER A4 No.4498 'Sir Nigel Gresley', making its much anticipated return to service, after an extensive overhaul. Following its successful test runs on the SVR itself, this would be the first chance for the public to ride behind the former East Coast racehorse since its withdrawal for overhaul in 2015. With the A4 temporarily sporting a livery of LNER wartime black - prior to a full repaint into BR Express Passenger Blue in the coming months - the opportunity was taken to recreate a sight not seen since the 1940s, as the loco was paired up with the SVR's own rake of LNER teak coaches.

Thanks for watching 😄
I used to live at Hampton Loade, many great places to video on the SVR. Wonderful video by the way, well done.
wonderful , thank you.. 👍
Thanks for watching, Dennis 😄
Nice collection.
Cheers 👍
Que maravilha 😍, começar o dia com estas imagens lindas!!! Obra prima de Jesus Cristo 🙏
Good scenes. They do look to be going faster than 40kmh, which as an Australian I thought was max permitted speed on your wonderful heritage lines. Perhaps it's just the camera angles.
13:30 ❤👍
Is Tenbury Wall a former railway holt? Always wondered whenever i saw it in videos🤨 also how amazing is crossing cottage😍 what a place it be to have a railway in your back garden
The Tenbury wall was never a halt, however it was where the old Wyre forest line to Ludlow I think it was headed.
Thanks for watching 😄 As has been mentioned, it's where the Wyre Forest Line to Tenbury - and onwards to a connection with the Welsh Marches Line at Woofferton - dropped down as it split off from the Severn Valley Line. The spot where I'm stood is literally on the trackbed itself.
Another great video from you as always, I remember seeing you at Crossing Cottage and Tenbury Wall. Had a great day and I hope you did too.
Thanks very much 😄
