I have hubcaps on my car on lowering springs and it STILL looks better then cars with wheels that aren’t lowered. P.S- wheels are going on soon, and will be registering it on Fitment Industries.
I definitely did coils before wheels for the fitment purposes, I then ordered front camber arms and then my wheels, no camber arms in the rear, just running stock 350z wheels for now, and ESR's in the front, looks killer, wouldn't do any other way. If anyone sees this (even though this video old af) definitely do suspension first, like stated in the video, it helps you visualize best fitment for your build wants. I'm gonna be running -9.5 degrees of camber in the front and like -4 degrees in the rear, drift car stance. This is something I realized I wanted to do after slamming my SC400. So unless you plan on copying and pasting someone's entire build (which is a big no no but if you don't care about being flamed then go ahead) lowering your car helps visualize wheel fitment a lot more realistically.
on my first car, a '98 Camaro V6, the first real mod (that wasn't just cleaning out mold and gunk and replacing broken stuff) were wheels and tires because no one makes 235/55r16s and the ones on the stock wheels were three different tire types from two different companies and they were bald and dry rotted and felt like they were made from driftwood. i needed replacements for those much more than i needed to change the suspension on the car (which my father and i kept fighting about. i wanted to lift it for rallying. he wanted it raked for drag racing.) went with OEM C5 Corvette 17x8.5 wheels, black with a machined lip, with 275/45s Michelins front and rear. then i had all the grip in the world until i understeered head-on into a Lincoln Navigator. at least i found out i didn't have Takata airbags.
yup, i always do suspension first. In the early 2000's my first mod was ground control sleeves on kyb gr2's. I saved up the money and gave my friend the cash because he had a card at the time and ordered the gc's off JCW. I then saved up again picked up the shocks from autozone. I was only able to do the rear's one weekend and had to wait a week to do the front's ( i think i had to buy a part but didnt have enough money for it at the time). I remember driving around with a stiff rear end (i adjusted the sleeve to be about stock height so it wouldnt look funny). When i got the front's on I slammed the collars and on the first test drive i found out real quick you can't really drive around like that and end up doing about 1 or 2 finger gap so i wouldnt get tire rub. I also found out you must do a wheel alignment after you lower your suspension, i chewed up my tires in a few months. Ah the good ol' days.
I have a 13 frs , first things I bought where spacers and eibach pro kit. Still with oem wheels and I always get complements. I'm going to do bc coils and 18x9.5 squared wheels. I knew what I wanted before I got the car, I have no regrets. Take your time and do it right the first time.
Bought a G35 and lowered it on some Tein Flex Z’s .. the G had the 19” OEM Rays and it looks killer considering i was on a high school budget lmao. I put a touch of Bronze Plasti Dip, turned out pretty clean.
My first mods on this car was turbo charging it. Then fmic. Then putting a muffler back on it. Then front lip and rear spats. Next is painting my summer wheels. Maybe going coil over to drop it 2 inches in summer but go back to stock height in winter since I always drive in the snow. I always believed in making a car decently quick before trying to make it look cool or quick. Bonus is when it looks fairly stock and you pull on unsuspecting people
Suspension first, brakes & wheels, then power/tune & exhaust last. No point in chucking in sequential turbos or performance exhaust on stock brakes tyres and suspension. You'll just burn through tyres and warp your brakes trying to utilise all that extra power.
Justin SoNah it’s more like the first four should always be Exhaust, tune, suspension, and wheels...but the order that you should go in is different for everyone tbh. Depends on the car. My CLA45 doesn’t need wheels because it came with 19” alloy rims that look dope as hell. No reason to blow 2k on new wheels until i get all the other performance mods i want. (That plan went to shit when i bent a rim the second week i had the car and got a set of BBS rims while waiting a month for the AMG rim to come in from Germany lmfao)
IMHO ECU "tune" is useless in a N/A car, unless you just got done doing serious mods to the internals. Yeah you can change your HP/tq band but you won't increase anything that will effect your 0-60 time. In a F/I car you will see substantial gains, but only because your adding boost and fuel. For the cost of a "Tune" you could do a ton of other mods that are more enjoyable.
The first thing I did was lowered my Corolla on Tein S Tech Lowering Springs before an Exhaust and before getting Aftermarket wheels what a difference it made my car handle when cornering
Been telling kids this for years. Lower it first, and always get a set of 10mm spacers and extended lugs just in case your stock balloon tires rub the coils. And get a PROPER alignment. Really sucks to lower your car and have to wait weeks to drive it.
When I bought my 07 3.5 nissan altima, I made a list on what I wanted to do on. The basics: exhaust, wheels, suspension. I picked up a set of 350z anniversary wheels and gave a new look. Now I'm currently lowered on BC coilovers and it looks Absolutely amazing on just those stock staggered wheels.
Not sure if I should lower my 09 Mustang GT if I live in Michigan. It could be 10 inches of snow one day. And the next it would be 70 degrees and all the snow disappeared
I think my first mod was painted my corroded grill and then adding better halogen headlight bulbs for the low beam. After that I did a roof rack and then painted my own wheels (I plan for spacers to make them more flush fit) and then mud flaps.
First thing I do to my cars; tint, new headlight bulbs (if they're halogen stock or simply want a different color) and lowering the car. Then I get rid of any chrome if the car has any along with new tires. Wheels haven't always been a top priority as I've had cars with decently nice stock wheels that look dope with the car lowered. I've also had cars where the stock wheels were horrid and I got new ones.
I did this method. Lowered my forester with mild drop using RS-R. I’ve been happy with it. Comfort and style are all there. I just need to put on Michelin tires. Glad you guys made this video so informative.
I did the following and very happy with performance results. 1. High performance tires 2. Performance brakes 3. Tune and full turbo back exhaust together for stage 2. 4. Engine mod: cold air, charge pipes, diverter valve, turbo muffler delete. 5. Enkei RPF1 rims 6. KW coilover
When i was young, my parents had a toyota Avanza and they modded it. It had modded bumpers that are 3 inch low on both front and back and they lowered it as well. It looks hella cool yet one time we where going onto a ramp, the whole front bumper extender came off XD. Now the car itself wasnt harmed since it is a 8 seater van of some sort but since it have the extenders and it was lowered, the lip came off. Let's just say, my pops wasn't too impressed.
I know for me on any vehicle, I always fix up my suspension all around control arms, ball joints, bushings y’all know. For me it determines what I can do to the car, make a race car or a cruiser, for instance if race car I got to make sure the car can handle the power from the engine handle corners etc and same goes with a just a daily build making it comfortable. But yeah so suspension is always a first for me and right now it’s what I’m doing to my ef9 I just got.
I did tires my first then tints.slammed it on oem wheels then a simple front lip. Painted the hood, roof and trunk in black.93 Sentra. I love my hooptie. It’s my daily. So reliable.
RUclips algorithms are scary. This has been on my mind lately. This reasoning had crossed my mind so kinda glad it's back up a little. Recently got a new GTI. Plans are.. 1. Front "no holes" license plate bracket. Done today actually. Just in time cuz my temp tags are almost expired. 2. Rear wing extension. Inexpensive and massively changes the profile of the car for the minimal investment. 3. VTF lowering springs. Cant justify the cost of DCC coilovers for the short term. This seems like a good option for the next 2-3 years. 4. 18" or 19" wheel and performance tires. Wheel size will depend heavily on how car drives with the springs. 5. Stage 2 tune when/if I buyout the lease and end.
So you made up my mind, I was going back and forth on what to do first. Im going to get my coil overs. I bought my 9th gen SI with wheels, so then I'll work on performance.
yep, junkyard swapped discs on the rear, and tein coilovers first.....then the list gets continually( and forever?) longer...lol.....great content, glad I found your channel
btw, itsa 97 impreza outback sport 2.2 NA, and, if any one cares to read this extended paragraph that list sofar includes; 95 Legacy rear discs, Tein Flex Z's, sti alum front control arm, Cusco front strut tower brace, Whiteline rear adj. strut tower brace, Whiteline rear trailing arms, laterals, and connectors... might sound expensive, but most of these things replaced high mileage, worn-out OEM equipment, that would have cost about the same to have done at any shop/and/or buying subaru factory replacment parts ( $$$ as they are "very proud" of their stuff, $$$... just sayin'), as i did all but the final allignment myself (With MUCH help from MANY RUclips Channels, including quality channels like Fitment Ind. ) .....But, brake and suspension work was interrupted by water pump failure, resulting in blown head gasket...yeah, i know, subies blow head gaskets like rain in Florida, but 245,000 miles and a good overheat will almost certainly kill something that used to seal......that means milling heads, multi-angle valve job, better springs/retainers, ARP headstuds, gasket-match/port n polish heads, gasket-match intake, Delta 200 torque cams, Inferno Fab's EL (matbe UEL rumble?) headers, and Flowmaster Delta 40's; i mean you can't just "put it back together stock"........soon to resume suspension/brakes with adjustable anti-sway bars and mounts/links f / r. ( prolly Whiteline ), Whitelines' roll-center adjust and anti- lift kits (to reset suspension geometry angles after lowering), Cusco's lower subframe brace rear and lower "H" brace front, and finish up with old school early 90's sti/wrx 16's and 4pot/2pot brakes, and finally Wilwood's brake bias/stainless lines......for now
#1 Lower .....EVERYTHING!!! I have owned 63 cars and lowered ALL of them, form a 1984 Toyota twin cam ...that I should have never sold to 2019 Jetta. Do it and be happy 😊
My first mods are bags and an extra set of wheels and tires for the winter. I hate driving in a car with a loud exhaust so I'm just re-saving up to rebuild my FA20D, and that'll be the end of it.
All I’ve done is dechrome and tint the windows, m performance kidney grills, black out the mirrors, m performance shift knob and handbrake, short shift kit and a 1m style front bumper. I want to put wheels on but still have that oem+ look so it’s been hard finding something that suits the car. I might just put it on some coilies or just eibach springs for now.
I have Enkei Raijin 18 x 9.5 + 45 on my 13 wrx with the rear fenders rolled. With BF Goodrich G-Force Comp 2 Tires 255/35 R18 .And it's on stock suspension . Not to high not too low looks GREAT. 👌
Did all the suspension well most of it on my fa5 also most bolt ons aswell before I even wanted to get rims keep in mind I already had the set I wanted in mind. Now three years later I'm buying that set here from fitment industries 😁
Careful. Don't perpetuate the myth that "coilovers are always an upgrade." Truth is, most low end coilovers ride WORSE, perform WORSE, and are often more DANGEROUS. R&D effort spent on valving is costly, and not found in a set of $500 Racelands. Reducing body roll and CG represents only a small increase in cornering performance. Shock dynos paint the full picture, and a set or dampers matched with spring rates and good rebound WILL keep the rubber on the road, where you want it to be. Short: No, many coilovers are NOT form and function upgrades on several platforms.
I did itsy bitsy pieces first so warranty would not be voided. Axle back muffler, carbon fiber ducktail, interior carpets and tint. Then I went with coilovers. Still on stock wheels but the coilovers made the car look much better and perform better as well. All these mods can be found on my channel. Saving up for a wheel upgrade, maybe by next year. Then audio. The miata’s stock non-Bose audio sucks.
I did my 18x9.5's on 225/40R-18 on my Corolla first, BEFORE I did the Eibach Sport Springs... because I looked on the Fitment Industries gallery and found that my desired wheel & tire combo would indeed fit on that suspension, on my particular car, and it looked sick and nicely fitted. :D
@@FitmentIndustries Thanks! Sempai noticed meeee! I'll have to post the pics of my Corolla on the gallery someday, gotta give back a little for the help I got. ;)

"Increase driver's experience" yup I love scraping my oil pan just trying to get out of my own driveway
True Story. 😂
Bonus is when it looks fairly stock and you pull on unsuspecting people
1. TUNE
2. EXHAUST
3. SUSPENSION
4. RIMS AND TIRES
@@juzryt power first. Could car less if my car scrapes around town, would rather haul ass past you 🤣
Suspension first, brakes & wheels, then power/tune & exhaust last. No point in chucking in sequential turbos or performance exhaust on stock brakes tyres and suspension. You'll just burn through tyres and warp your brakes trying to utilise all that extra power.
Wedow keep thinking like that and you’ll see a lot of taillights 😂🤣
I lowered my. Eclipse 2.5 inch on tein springs and it handles definitely better than stock
Make sure you're washing that underside everyday if you lower it lol
Buy yourself a winter beater, then slam your stang (from someone who drives a slammed car in SE Michigan) lol
Just dropped my car for the first time on Tein street advance Z. I’m hooked!
Just raised my COs earlier today. Now I can park in the driveway yay
I did this method. Lowered my forester with mild drop using RS-R. I’ve been happy with it. Comfort and style are all there. I just need to put on Michelin tires. Glad you guys made this video so informative.
How many inches off the ground?
I would like to see you hit a speed bump
I did the following and very happy with performance results.
1. High performance tires
2. Performance brakes
3. Tune and full turbo back exhaust together for stage 2.
4. Engine mod: cold air, charge pipes, diverter valve, turbo muffler delete.
5. Enkei RPF1 rims
6. KW coilover
Sounds gnarly dude you should upload your ride to our gallery. We would love to see it! bit.ly/2Ma4oca
Suspension wasn't not my first mod ... honestly want to turbo my FRS first
@cha vang no I went with coil-overs first haha
On my e30, I went and did wheels first, 2 months later, Eibach Springs, The BC Coils, and now bags.
63 and I'm getting ready to put Tien Z Flex coil overs on one of the best cars to lower, MX5 NC MK3. Just as soon as you guys ship my order.
1. Tint
2. Eibach Springs
3. Rays Wheels/Meaty tires
Now where the car meets? ;)
Yup, I think 24/7 about my wheel gap. For sure gonna lower it, even doing it slightly will help.
I was convinced before I hit play.
I did tires my first then tints.slammed it on oem wheels then a simple front lip. Painted the hood, roof and trunk in black.93 Sentra. I love my hooptie. It’s my daily. So reliable.
Video on load capacity of wheels?
I like it gonna add it to the list!
I’ve lowered every car I’ve owned since 2000. It’s always been the primary mod for my cars. Finally, someone agrees with me.
Thanks Fi 👍
Have fun driving over potholes and speed bumps.
do you guys think a lowered chevy cruse would look good
ryan langille lol
ryan langille if its the hatch, yeah.
There's a few on insta that look really good
yes, every car is better lowered
Yes slam it on bags
I actually had to buy wheels first when I got my car just because the last ones were trash
Should I slam my saturn vue?
I mean you can!!! We will even condone this and help you 😂 Check out our kits to see if we one that will fit the Saturn! bit.ly/2ChmsRw
100% agree! Tint and drop! Two most visually dramatic changes you can make!
Tint (windows and lights)
Xenon lights
Exhaust
Lowering suspension
Rims
So you made up my mind, I was going back and forth on what to do first. Im going to get my coil overs. I bought my 9th gen SI with wheels, so then I'll work on performance.
I put tints first and then oem wheels cause i had steelies 😭😂
Deep steelies look sick on some civics
yep, junkyard swapped discs on the rear, and tein coilovers first.....then the list gets continually( and forever?) longer...lol.....great content, glad I found your channel
btw, itsa 97 impreza outback sport 2.2 NA, and, if any one cares to read this extended paragraph that list sofar includes; 95 Legacy rear discs, Tein Flex Z's, sti alum front control arm, Cusco front strut tower brace, Whiteline rear adj. strut tower brace, Whiteline rear trailing arms, laterals, and connectors... might sound expensive, but most of these things replaced high mileage, worn-out OEM equipment, that would have cost about the same to have done at any shop/and/or buying subaru factory replacment parts ( $$$ as they are "very proud" of their stuff, $$$... just sayin'), as i did all but the final allignment myself (With MUCH help from MANY RUclips Channels, including quality channels like Fitment Ind. ) .....But, brake and suspension work was interrupted by water pump failure, resulting in blown head gasket...yeah, i know, subies blow head gaskets like rain in Florida, but 245,000 miles and a good overheat will almost certainly kill something that used to seal......that means milling heads, multi-angle valve job, better springs/retainers, ARP headstuds, gasket-match/port n polish heads, gasket-match intake, Delta 200 torque cams, Inferno Fab's EL (matbe UEL rumble?) headers, and Flowmaster Delta 40's; i mean you can't just "put it back together stock"........soon to resume suspension/brakes with adjustable anti-sway bars and mounts/links f / r. ( prolly Whiteline ), Whitelines' roll-center adjust and anti- lift kits (to reset suspension geometry angles after lowering), Cusco's lower subframe brace rear and lower "H" brace front, and finish up with old school early 90's sti/wrx 16's and 4pot/2pot brakes, and finally Wilwood's brake bias/stainless lines......for now
“We were all 16 once, I hope, or if you are 16 this is for you”
I’m 15 lmao 😅
16now😀
@@ChronicLockz welp, I’m 17 and I now own a lowered 92 Toyota pickup minitruck 😄
First import car was a 95civic 4 door and I lowered it with coil overs, then wheels, then motor swap. Never tinted any windows in any of my cars.
"mismatched body panels but fitment"
^^^hey i got a shout-out from fitment industries :D
#1 Lower .....EVERYTHING!!! I have owned 63 cars and lowered ALL of them, form a 1984 Toyota twin cam ...that I should have never sold to 2019 Jetta. Do it and be happy 😊
Oops I pretty much asked for exactly what he said at the start... but I said 18x11.5 so I'm still good 😂 at least I'm down to roll and pull
My first mods are bags and an extra set of wheels and tires for the winter.
I hate driving in a car with a loud exhaust so I'm just re-saving up to rebuild my FA20D, and that'll be the end of it.
Lol that is the first thing that came to my mind. Tint, lowering, rims and neons.
Ronald Adams fr
@@MyRcGoSlow Yep for real mate.
3 down, just neon to go
All I’ve done is dechrome and tint the windows, m performance kidney grills, black out the mirrors, m performance shift knob and handbrake, short shift kit and a 1m style front bumper. I want to put wheels on but still have that oem+ look so it’s been hard finding something that suits the car. I might just put it on some coilies or just eibach springs for now.
Grab some coils from ya bois! ----> bit.ly/2ChmsRw
What are the wheels with the gold centre by his left ear?
New wheels that have yet to be released from Motegi!
@@FitmentIndustries thanks
Not my first car but current project is 94 GS300 and the first thing i went with right away was coilovers..
thanks for the vid.
speaking of the 370z,
please do a video on your top picks on the best looking stock wheels
I'm interested in this
I have Enkei Raijin 18 x 9.5 + 45 on my 13 wrx with the rear fenders rolled. With BF Goodrich G-Force Comp 2 Tires 255/35 R18 .And it's on stock suspension . Not to high not too low looks GREAT. 👌
You should definitely upload it to our gallery sometime we'd love to see it! bit.ly/2Ma4oca
i always thought lowering your car was the FIRST mod to any car. times has changed. #notmysceneanymore
"Kneesmo" 😂
I did my 18x9.5's on 225/40R-18 on my Corolla first, BEFORE I did the Eibach Sport Springs... because I looked on the Fitment Industries gallery and found that my desired wheel & tire combo would indeed fit on that suspension, on my particular car, and it looked sick and nicely fitted. :D
Gotta be top comment right here!! Lol that's awesome to hear man glad to see you utilized our badass gallery to find what exactly you needed!
@@FitmentIndustries Thanks! Sempai noticed meeee! I'll have to post the pics of my Corolla on the gallery someday, gotta give back a little for the help I got. ;)
Please STOP saying under glow light bro
I did coilovers on my 00 civic ex coupe before buying some si stock wheels and the stock wheel looked killer lowered😍
I was gonna watch some porn but I saw this instead. You helped me get through #nonutnovember 🙏
When i lowered my car, i changed the wheels first then used some lowering springs. Early corollas used to have ugly wheels.
I lifted my first vehicle
I put Performance Suspension on my Forester first and dropped it to about an inch Gap now I'm in the process of looking for a good set of rims did this way before this video came out always start off suspension then rims
Do bears crap in the woods?
