- TLC's Sister Wives cast member Kody Brown, sees himself as the star of the show. He takes every opportunity to prop himself so that he can have the spotlight all to himself. On more than one occasion he has pushed a wife or child out of the way so he can steal "glory." The saddest part of his ambition to achieve recognition is that his victories are meaningless. Repeatedly, Kody misses opportunities to connect with his family on a meaningful level.
Ironically, if Kody ever genuinely tried to make connections with his family, he would have achieved the fame and recognition from the public that he craves so badly. Everything he does is an effort to establish himself as the "alpha male," the "doting father," or the caring "husband." The fans of the show are neither fooled nor fools. He can walk through the motions of pretending to care. However, the only person Kody is lying to is himself.

“We got you!!!” I have been extremely sick for months. At the beginning my husband would say “we got this”. It was a we will fight this together. I have noticed the last few months him saying “we got you”, which to me means “if you can’t fight anymore, I’ll take care of it”. It means he will carry me over the finish line. It makes me sad for these women who don’t know what a loving and sacrificing husband is. I really like your common sense and advice giving videos. I love your post because I’m super thankful to have a husband like this, I always say I wish I could clone my husband, I have had major health issues and he’s been nothing but supportive (been together for 20 years next month, was even diagnosed with my health issues before we started dating)
My husband is like that. I am chronically ill in a wheelchair and he does everything for me that I can't do which is so, so much. You know that man is a good man. There is no better gift.

Kody has to always show that hes better than his wives and would never do anything that would build up their self-esteem even the slightest.
Do you know why because God for bid they have any esteem to see they are better than him and he’s such a little man that he can’t stand the idea of a woman being better than him and he’s wanting to beat them down. The 5k is yet another example of Kody’s deep insecurity with himself. He had to show everyone what he could do, as opposed to people thinking he was “slow” with his wife, and that need trumped any sort of empathy he may have had for Janelle.
You should see how he ran with robyn when she was walking when pregnant. He would circle around Robyn, run back and forth and hang around robyn, rather than running ahead of Robyn. Kody just doesn't find Janelle attractive. Never really did. Janelle lies to herself she thinks, "Maybe he will come around." No, Janelle, Robyn may cry a lot, but she has a killer body, wears her hair nice, and her makeup looks great, and she has an energetic, fun and playful personality.
If you were honest with yourself and really wanted kody, you would have put more energy in yourself and getting in shape and working on your presentation. But, you didn't do that, and was still upset that kody wasn't attracted to you.

Kody wrestled in high school. That’s one of the least team oriented sports in school. Kody is Uber competitive and there’s no way one of his children or spouses were going to cross that line before him. I would have been more pro-Kody if he’d been more of a cheerleader and support his wives and kids. His children went back to run with Janelle. The kiddos are better people than Kody.

But all the times he was an ass add up. What makes him an "evil dude" is his dictatorial style, his manipulative ways, and his obvious favoritism of his hot young wife over the women who gave him their best years and destroyed their bodies to birth lots of babies for him. Their appearances are very much shaped by the lives they led with him.
What really passed me off was when he praised Robyn for being tge only one showing him "respect." Respect is a 2-way street. It doesn't mean obedience and submission. Meri made 1 mistake at a very vulnerable time, and was cut off forever. Years of apology, contrition, and submission to try and earn back some trust, and got nowhere. That's extremely cruel. Either divorce her and let her move on, or forgive her and rebuild the relationship. But instead he kept her hanging on to vain hope for years, giving her just enough to stick around as long as they could still siphon money off her. She moved up to her inn, was supporting herself and still contributing to the "family." Any wonder that she left after she realized her relationship was solely about money, and seeing how happy Christine was after leaving Kody? Leaving was relatively easy since they weren't legally married, she already had separate assets, and people wouldn't allow her to exploit the "sister wives" fame by paying extortionate prices at her inn. The only change to her life would be an increase in her finances (since she was no longer contributing to the 'family')
When I did my first 5k all my friends signed up too. We all went at the slowest person’s pace. We all crossed together and accomplished together. It is one of my favorite memories.
James, as always 💯 spot on!! If he was anything other than a manchild, he would have realized his job was to sport Janelle in the race!! He should have if he was going to run in the race with her he should have run alongside her for the entire race, giving her words of encouragement! That's what good husbands do!! A few years back James my husband spent each night at my bedside with me. He fit his six foot frame in one of those hospital sleeper chairs when I needed emergency surgery. During my stay the surgeon had to remove 2/3rds of my abdominal staples because I developed an infection. James, it was almost one of those you "stay where you lay" moments but he remained at my side during the staples removal, 😂. The surgeon and I were quite amused afterwards to witness a black man turning green! We all laughed afterwards, including my husband and my doctor praised him for supporting me!
I strongly suspect that in isolated cases where Patriarchal systems are bearable or even pleasant for most of a family most of the time, it's because the patriarch has realized that if he actually wants to be happy, then he's going to have to let the women win sometimes, because it's difficult and fundamentally unsustainable for most people to be happy when everyone around them isn't.
I wonder if Janelle didn't want Kody to run with her because he would just harrass & bully her??

Kody has been demonstrating for years that he has had no role in caring for his children. Soap and water. Wash the entire foot. Washing both feet with soap and water is even better. Inspect the wound and make sure that there is no glass, dirt, twigs of other stuff in the wound. After the wound is clean, then hydrogen peroxide and a bandage are next.

What we have to remember is Kody is a narcissist. He doesn't do anything that doesn't benefit him. Which means that it's all about him. Also Kody is not in a loving relationship with Janelle. Janelle is his meal ticket. Kody is effectively pimping off his 3 wives. Kody and Sobbin Robyn live off the other 3 wives hard work. Sadly instead of being greatful Sobbin Robyn and Kody treat the wives abominably. There is gratitude for you. X

Garth Brooks is a great example of being able to let other people shine….It will be his concert and he is huge, but yet when someone else is singing or playing a solo type thing, he gives it up to them and even puts himself in the background. I noticed that and respect him so much for that! (Side note, like Denzel, he was all about his children as well, he would have made millions and millions in all those years he stepped back while his kids were growing up, came back when they were all grown) I applaud them both for knowing what really truly matters ❤❤❤❤

James, we love it when you talk not just as a father, but as a DAD. It just highlights that Kody is barely more than a sperm donor and his current relationship with his older kids prove this.
I did a 5k with a whole group of our friends. My husband is a speed demon and faster than anyone in our group. I was the slowest. He stayed with me the whole time, encouraging me, letting me set the pace. He was simply proud I'd done it. And I was so thankful he was there to support me.

My dad could easily run a half marathon but when my mom and I signed up for one for charity, he stuck with us. I had only done one prior to that and my mom never had. My dad is the kind of guy every woman should hope to find. It ended up being 15.3 miles due to all the walking prior to and back from start/finish line and my mom made sure he knew that :)
You also need to really clean the foot as to even see how bad the injury is. She could have had another smaller injury that she did not realize. There might have been something still stuck in the wound that could have caused an infection or worse....

I would love for you to review S13 ep 7 - Divided we move. Kody is on full display in this episode. First he's mad no one wants to be in a car with him, 2nd he doesn't care that his kids could get a plague; 3rd: throws a tantrum because he didn't get the land he wanted; 4th: pretends moving and splitting up the family wasn't his idea.
Kody is the king of moving goal posts and getting pissy at his family when they don't serve his every whim - remember when Christine is moving to Utah and wants Kody's help with one heavy thing and instead of helping her he starts to lecture her on weight distribution? These women have way more tolerance than I do! I would tell him to gtfo I'll get movers!

I was raised by a Mormon raised Mom. She had a strict rule of no shoes in her house. And wearing shoes outside. That was taught to us to keep germs and dirt from being tracked all through the house. I keep the same rule at my house. Shoes are taken off in the garage or by the door coming into the house.
I grew up in NJ and a lot of families had this no shoes rule and then lived in hawaii where shoes in the house is SUPER disrespectful I can’t feel comfortable inside in shoes knowing what we step in outside

LOL When I was a kid back in the 80s and I got a cut or scrape my parents would put hydrogen peroxide on it. It was SO painful!! When I was 11 years old my Dad was in the hospital and he came home with this gentle liquid soap and the first time they used it I was in shock! You mean I didn’t have to be in crazy pain all those times I scraped my knees …what the HELL?!!

James I have to say listening to you talk about babies and pooping and breastfeeding lol, and then taking care of wounds on kids, etc I can tell that you were/are a very involved father. You’d have to be to know all of that (unlike someone else we all know). My husband is that way and I’m so thankful, although I get frustrated that it’s even something we need to celebrate in our culture. It should just be the norm, you know? I totally agree with you, but Kody is a dead beat at most of everything to do with his family. He is so wrapped up in himself and money. Maybe if he had supported Janelle more, and had supported Christina and their daughters surgery. Look if he can go do a wedding his daughter was more important. If the child is dehydrated we start with a popsicles and get that iv started. But you can bring down fevers and encourage fluids with popsicles. It's a great way to check a young child who can't tell you if they have a sore throat also. Basically a popsicle is a good thing all the way around because it makes the child happy and fluids get going. Kody doesn't have a child that will say kody did something during their young childhood that kody did something that's a every lasting memory.
Your talk about Christ washing the feet reminded me of how often Kody liked to say he used Christ as his example. Like in Hawaii, someone brought ham, but Cody wouldn't eat it because Christ wouldn't have, even tho the rest of the family ate it.

I have a question concerning the religious aspect of SWs. Kody &co. claimed that they were members of fundamentalist Mormon church. It turns out that church was the United Brethren, a very conservative group. Being fundamentalist Mormons, I believe they are required to wear “garments” under their clothes. Robyn claimed to be very religious and totally believed in polygamy. Yet Robyn is the one spending tons of cash at Victoria’s Secret. Please correct me if I’m wrong, but something seems off here.
