Make an 3D Print of any Location on Google Maps!

- I built a scale model of Taos Ski Valley in New Mexico, and you can do the same for any location you can find on Google Maps. You can export the terrain data into an STL file, 3D-print it, and then paint and finish the model however you choose.

The easyest method yet
Fascinating concept and very well executed too!
OK, the Horseshoe Curve near Altoona, PA would be a great place to do this with. Seriously.
That is a cool idea.
Brilliant
Excellent work!
My local ski resort brundage id would be awesome to do this with
Very cool!
I used Google maps to create a model of the rail system in Beauharnais, a location to the NW of Montreal.
Dude thats too cool
Very interesting. I assume one could print out larger scales, but with many modules. Example. N scale. Thanks.
Having a bigger print bed would allow for more possibilities. I could see 3d printing an entire layout in TT scale (still in multiple pieces). That would be interesting.
very cool
very cool! do u think theres a way to do this with other landmarks (man made ones, buildings and etc)?
Maybe, but probably not with this particular application since the resolution isn’t super high.
You could print the world!!
It would just take a while…lol
@@StevesTrains more than 6 days I bet 😜
Any particular reason you chose Taos Valley? Interesting choice, being close to me.
Just one of my favorite ski resorts and the one I’ve probably skied at the most outside of a small place out east. Solitude, UT is in second place in terms of skiing frequency. In part because it is easy to get to with a short drive from the airport and a direct flight from Tulsa.
@@StevesTrains I live in Albuquerque. I've never taken to the slopes in Taos, but I've summited Wheeler Peak. I saved myself a lot of trouble on the way down by riding the snow chutes on my butt- best decision ever. I haven't done any skiing or snowboarding since 2001.
