3D Printed Topographic Mount Everest Projection
HTML-код

- While re-searching topographic maps and how it could be used on a full scale world map, I stumbled across a website that generates terrain of any location around the world. Mount Everest within the Himalaya mountain range turned out absolutely AWESOME! 3D printed with PLA filament, the entire print was almost 44 hours!
3D printer that would be good to start with: bit.ly/2FTgE0x

The 89% finishing thing is probably a result of the Z offset!
This is by far one of my favorite projects you have done
The projector thingy over the 3D print was whoop whoop! 👍
You missed Tasmania on Australia, it's ok, everyone else here forgets them aswell. thanks for the vid!

Beautiful work, dude!!! 😃
But now you have to paint it. 😏
It will take a few years... Poor Simon!)
Just what I thought!
You can paint the filament with alcohol markers but ur stuck with creating a one of a kind work of art :)
Hi Simon. As always, a pleasure watching you embark on new and exciting projects! I'll for sure be making Denmark as my first, on my new cr-10s pro after watching that spectacular result. 😉
Your push up at 7:36 looks so clean! Please share us your workout routine
I like how we could see the outside during the time lapse 👍 dope video
That’s the third video that has popped up this week on the topic! Yours is far and away the best!
Called Alaska a country 😂😂
Love the vids great work as always
Alaska: Am I a joke to you?
@@KOth-xm8pp Your golden icebox doesn't intimidate me
You're very talented...and you make excellent videos (another talent)! Thanks! This was a lot of work.
You always do mind-blowing things and idea
You should get it hydro dipped with a Google satellite image of that area.
You cannot hydro-dip anything with a ragged surface.
@@zaprodk you can but it will be speckled and it wont look good
zapro_dk wow just let the person dream for goodness sake
@@zaprodk Print it in ABS, smooth it, dip it.
@@zaprodk Wait why can't you hydro-dip with a ragged surface?
Please, Print this with some rainbow Filament, that Changes color when the print advances ;)
This is Freaking Mind Blowing and Beautiful!
I'm not going to lie… I fast forwarded of the end just so I could see the photo over the Print. Amazing!!!!
amazing dude!!! this inspire me to print one mountain that I visit last year!
aaand... the Terrain2STL website is broken :D nolonger creates meshes (gets a 503 timeout error)
I have same problem.
I cant even get to the page..site unreachable..
@@MrNlce30 Awesome thanks
I used this site about 2 years ago and it was working then. :/
@@MrNlce30 That one works. Ty
Great video man, I love the topographic models, thank you for showing us how you did it.
Så jädra häftigt! Du gör så mycket coolt med dina printrar.
It’s crazy how open source everything is for 3D printing. Lithopanes, free files on thingiverse, topographical files... it’s an awesome hobby to have
Please paint that peace of art!
Super cool project. This will be the stress test for my new cr10. Thanks a bunch!
Love 💖 You RCLifeOn...#From MT.EVEREST country
I did one of these for my property and about 2 miles surrounding. I had to multiply the z 4x to get enough height to do anything .. printed at .2 layer and gave me nice terraces, this is way nicer. Very nice print as usual
Seems like such a great gift for outdoors enthusiastic people , all your vids are great big inspiration for mine
That looks like a hologram when the image is projected on the print. Great work!
I’d imagine getting really precise prints of each land mass could be a really good way to make a Pangea, almost like a puzzle
you are a Genius... good work...
Great tool, great video, thank you.
Greetings from Argentina!
I like your english, great explanation, keep it up!!!
Your job is very nicely done!
I need to start 3D-printing again!
I like to see you print a part of the Grand Canyon.
Solid brother man.
Would have been interesting to see you project the satellite view onto the model.
Still this was awesome, maybe I'll try it if I ever get a 3D printer!
Simon, you are a genius. Love your channel.
Bro, I just want to say u are AWESOME
Love your videos
Nice work! I just printed a 3D relief map of the world using a Blender and a 48bit tiff, and some software I wrote to process the data. It takes ages to print with all the retracts from peak to peak, and the vertical resolution is low.
I got much better results rotating 90° around Y and using the X axis for height, but where overhangs would be greater than 50°, I rotated the model 45° around Y, and added a support frame manually - this came out great with very few retracts and no support generation.
Unfortunately I used shiny black PLA, and it's pretty impossible to photograph, so will try spraying it.
(For level printing, you could splice different colours of filament together to make the colour change with height)
cool, would love to see the blender stuff,
Hi RCLifeOn to take this one step further look up "Sandbox" a box of sand, xbox Kinect and a projector, as you move the sand the Kinect picks up the new shape and the projector images the topography back onto it. Great video as always Thanks !
You've taken us to the top of the World 💝💝💝
Beautiful.
Look T your room with a view!!!!!! Inspirational view no doubt🤜🏼🤛🏼🇦🇺🍀😎🤓
The Grand Canyon would look really impressive with this type of printer
I am just below the mount Everest, I am in India,Kerala, nice build, great
I was just talking about doing something like this yesterday. Thanks! and great channel!
Excited to see how this could be used on the new full color 3D printers 🙂
Again great video Simon, you really elevated my day. That phone is pretty awesome. Would love to come to Sweden to see you, one day. For now greetings from Texas.
Nice art installation!
Grettings from Argentina!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Great job. Grangatulation
Thanks so much simon, I now have some inspiration for what I can do with my 3d printer!!
Now that is really cool. Thanks for sharing this.
Nice video quality! haven't seen a video in a while, you have definitely been improving your productions.
Stunning. I've tried terrain 2 stl but tried a cityscape. Didn't work very well as I couldn't get accurately scaled building heights. Never tried purely topo prints. I may give it another try.
if u wanna be dedicated u can photogrammetry it one by one i think, if u have a lot of time to spare
Very very cool! Super cool nerd! Love the video what a great idea!!
Thank you for sharing!
Awesome work!
All ready done this a few months ago love it
Amazing

Love your vids
Cape Town would look really nice.
Thats amazing. Great job sir
Pretty cool!!
You should do one of these like a lake and put water, pebbles, and other things to make it look more like a lake.
Det der var kult. Det må jeg teste ut.
dude thats insane man !
4:23 you can see that it changes to day n night
Cool stuff
Dude! I wish I could meet you but I’m in the middle of America! Keep doing your awesome work and you be a big channel! (As if you already aren’t)

You sir, just earned a sub!
Looks great!
Best channel
HoNg Ki dONG kI beautiful?
That's an awesome
Very cool effect. I had the same idea for curved rear projectors. I came across it through using 3DSMax and projection mapping, but using a multiple projection. fLove your work. Please keep it up. Top Shelf WWW
Love from Nepal.
7:29 Your smile replicates true joy out of your heart. Man that smile is worth it.
Great job and keep it up
Fantastic! I want one nowwwww
congrats on 400k!
Super Cool
You always amaze by your work I love it..........
I did something like this a while back, changed filament with every couple of layers(hours), i used red yellow blue white black, so it didn't look good, but i would imagine if you use standard altitude colors it could make much more sense!
Great project! Can you do the same with cities? I’d like to do a 3D print of my city, buildings included ;)
keep doing good videos like this...will share your amazing Videos. Goodluck !
That is so cool
are you going to try to make full countries again because I think that would be really cool
