I work at sonic as a manager, the groovy fries actually are going to stay on the menu bc they replaced the old fries with the groovy fries and I will say most people have the same reaction as you and most people don’t realize we no longer have the option for the regular fries. Edit- I don’t work for the sonic hq so I can’t change how things are done nor do I have a choice on pricing, that’s done by sonic themselves and whatever corporation or franchise owns that location or locations.

I worked on launching the French Onion Cheeseburger with A&W and unfortunately it was only available at “Base Brand” locations i.e places that are an A&W only and not connected to a Long John Silver or KFC, roughly 200 of 400 locations nationwide.

Opportunity to help the company do better here - free feedback! 😁 It would probably be a good idea to inform all staff at all locations about promo items, so then they can advise customers properly rather than coming off seeming very confused like these poor staff did. The customer shouldn't be expected to know or care about marketing strategy, just why they can't get the tasty item they saw at "that place". It does sound delicious though - shame there's no A&W in New Zealand or I'd be grabbing one for lunch!

The fact Wienerwurst has been contracted to mean “hot dog” doesn’t mean everything labelled as being from Vienna has to contain hot dogs. The Chicken Tater Melt from Jack in the Box has been on their Late Night Munchies menu for years (going back to 2019), at least in LA. It was a nightly routine of mine after a lane night shift behind the line to drop by and pick up two of them on my way home, they were cheap and greasy which was just what I needed after those shifts.
