    The latest version of Blender no longer supports the "P" shortcut, you must use the "E" hotkey to get an editable plane.

    thanks a lot. I've been trying to use the most accurate elevation data to cnc some topo maps of small geographic regions and this has helped immensely.

    Thanks for your video, I'd like to know if it's posible to change the shape of the model considering the valleys, i don't really know how to explain myself but I don't want to cut the mountains in that way, I prefer something more "natural"

    Goodnight! I'm trying to make this process and from Blender export to STL, try to print. Can you help me with 2 points?
    Map quality (the trees are cubic) Is there any way to improve this?
    I couldn't adjust the Z axis, that is, the map in blender is with the terrain relief, to print it would have to be flat, I've already tested S+0, S and still I couldn't do it, does anyone know how to do it? Thanks!!

    Hey Thank you so much for that tuto! Super easy! But I'm a rookie in blender and I have a question. When I export under STL for printing, my STL file is super huge! Any idea how to shrink to a printable size? Or do you know how to cut it in several pieces for printing?
    Thank you!!

    I have a doubt because at the end of the video you show the map in 3D but not textures and at begining you show the capture in texture but in 2d, this make the captures in 3D WITH THE TEXTURES ?

    • @personal_reminders
      @personal_reminders  Год назад

      In blender There is different viewing mode options. At the end of the video I switched over to the modeling tab and didn't bother Enabling texture view So the file I exported actually did have textures, I just didn't have that layer Enabled in the view settings of the modeling tab. My focus of this video was not On the texture Since it is irrelevant for 3D printing. (Unless you have a expensive multi colour printer.) in summary. The texture was always there And I could have easily played with it But I didn't bother Turning on texture view.

    • @JhonPitre
      @JhonPitre Год назад

      @@personal_reminders Ok I understand, but if I would like to see the 3D result with the textures it's possible for buildings too ( with the textures ) ?

    • @personal_reminders
      @personal_reminders  Год назад

      @@JhonPitre at 3:02 you can see the final result. In this video I capture a mountain So there is no buildings If you Picked a very Dense Location Like Calgary, AB There might be a few skyscrapers or big buildings, but they would show up as shapes in the file without the texture. The texture is just a color put onto a shape after the fact. And if you look on Google Maps, they are very sparse With their shapes (No trees, residences or random houses Only major landmarks and the Geographic height map) .

    thanks for the video - this is great, but dose it work in a city with buildings and city? i tried two cities and it dosent work... is there a different workflow?

    • @personal_reminders
      @personal_reminders  3 года назад +2

      As far as I know it will receive the ground information but does not place buildings across it which makes sense since they are constantly changing anyway
