    BOTH tools look great to me. And even though one is 'free', there's nothing saying you can't support a tool that is normally no cost to use. In fact I like supporting this type of site even more.

    Great video, thank you for sharing. Would it be possible to print the same area but in multiple sections to make a larger finished model? Something about 600mm x 600mm!

    Don`t no Why, but it's not generating a good resolution to me.

    Awesome video, may I ask which 3D printer model you used? could this be done with a 3D model created from fotogrammetry (Drone aerial images). How much would you sell does models for?

    • @iqless
      @iqless  5 лет назад +1

      I use a Prusa i3 Mk3 printer.
      I have never done fotogrammetry I guess in theory it could be done, but its simple enough to get detailed elevation information off the internet.
      As for how much to sell them... I have no clue what folks would pay for 3D printed maps

    Fantastic video. Very neat.
    Is there a 3d printer capable of printing a larger size? I am a geologist and would love to create some 3d topographic maps. Thanks!

      For enough $$ you can get some very big 3D printers or some people even build their own 3D Printer.
      If you are new to 3D printing I would recommend buying a Prusa mini
      www.prusa3d.com/category/original-prusa-mini/
      Print a few things and get a feel for what is all about. Then hit up a few youtubers like 3Dprinting nerd and see what is available for a bigger size.

    Do you take on projects for other people? I'd love to have a 3D printed topo of where I live, such a great idea!

    • @iqless
      @iqless  5 лет назад +1

      I do not take on projects myself.
      There are lots of places out there where you can get something printed for $$.
      I have not used any of them so I do not have an informed recommendation.
      Also a lot of local libraries now have 3D printers so there is a good chance you can get them to print it there for free .... or near free

      You can make a custom version pretty easily at toporama.co. It uploads the model to Shapeways where you can have it printed and shipped within a week or so.

    Thanks for the links...you should checkout 3DP Iceland RUclips channel he prints lot of topographic parts. He prints them on the side to get most resolution as possible.

      I had to watch one of his videos ruclips.net/video/PzAPL8HqHCo/видео.html
      and think about it. It makes sense now... If you don't want the topo look and want it smoother it
      would turn out better if you print it on the side
      Thanks for the info, that was pretty cool.
