Quincy was definitely like his Dad. He only slowly started unlearning the toxic traits in himself when he saw his Dad for all of who he was when he got older.

I really don't think he showed he liked her either way.. cuz Thee Tomboy Road & The Prissy Road led to thee same Disrespectful Destination.. One route was Juss slightly shorter than thee other.. and that's something Alot of pick mes have to learn the hard way. A disrespectful individual is disrespectful.. Periodt. 😭.. whether it's on the front or the back end.

One thing i dont think ppl discuss enough. Is .. while taking into account that Quincy is imitating his father.. Specifically in the ways he relates to girls/women & how he treats them and responds to them..-- is the fact that .. Blatantly when hes a child . he resorts to violence when he cant get his way.. Its likely taken lightly because they are kids.. and He 'seems' to not be that way when he grows up.. so its chocked up to a 'Boys will be boys' type thing.. However.. Thats still alarming and something to be unpacked.. and Im sure a reason why its depicted in such a way is to avoid the movie bein dark af and to avoid Quincy being completely unlikeable.. But. Quincy lowkey high key had some abusive tendencies. Even in his adult hood.. Physical & Nonphysical.. And It seems like when he gets older, he uses Basketball & in some instances Affection.. as a gateway to be physically rough with Monica.. because of course as an adult. Physically harming her would have harsher consequences.. furthermore. What is that further saying about His parents dynamics with each other, that the movie only lightly touches on as it concerns calling a thing a thing surrounding the abusive tendencies 🤡👀🤔
I also wish they wouldve been able to show more of a turning point with Quincy. Cuz it would've taken more than a busted leg and a Basketball game to undo allat toxic masculinity he had goin on.

Sometimes parents want their kids to go a different career path out of Jealous Nature. They don't want their kids to top their legacy in their field.. and Quincy Daddy says something that alludes to that being a part of his thing with Quincy.. Fearing that Quincy would be Better than him..
Hmmm... I was thinking that it was more that he realized he messed up by not focusing on education more and didn't want his kid to make that mistake. I'll have to think about that a bit more. Interesting...
I think the term “tom boy” has taking a back seat the the style of “casual”.

Quincy was DEFINITELY like his father, like they say, the apple doesn't fall far from the tree. He ended up learning the same toxic behavior and it's unfortunate that he didn't know better
