There is so much to unpack in Ebony’s story (Shoutout to Monica Calhoun cause between Ebony and Mia she doesn’t get enough credit) I think Ronnie became fond of Ebony and didn’t think her brother would go that far with someone that she kept so close. I definitely think Junior has done this before or just known to be aggressive with the dancers. It was very telling when Vanilla said “hell no you better get somebody else to do it.” But at the same time I wouldn’t expect Junior to be different after seeing how aggressive Ronnie was towards Diamond. Ebony’s side had the biggest cautionary tale of not being naive and being safe as a woman and not forgetting to watch the company you keep. Reggie and them were way too comfortable taking advantage of her knowing that she was drunk so it wasn’t surprising when Reggie set Junior to Ebony’s path the way he did. And the fact that ALL those men were outside the door and NOBODY busted through to help her still pisses me off. The r**e was tragic enough, what if she would’ve died. Not one person that was in that room bothered to help her
I think what diamond meant by the "stay professional" line is for ebony to keep it on the inside. No drinking or outside of the club extra activities that involves money.
In my opinion, I think there were TWO setups during this scene. The first one obviously is Ronnie setting up Ebony, the second one that maybe only a few people notice is the Reggie and Clyde setting up Ronnie. Why? To get to Dollar Bill. Let me explain: Reggie tells Clyde to go take Ronnie outside to smoke. Once those two leave, Reggie convinces Junior to "smash" Ebony. Remember, he lies to Junior about him and Clyde running a train on her, which indicates he knows about Junior's past assaults. When Ronnie and Clyde come back in while everyone is leaving, Reggie tells Clyde, "We gotta handle that thang.". That thang meaning going to The Players Club complete the trap. Keep in mind, Reggie and Clyde, along with Brooklynn and KC work for St. Louis. In the beginning of the movie Saint tell Brooklynn and KC, "Send them fools (Reggie/Clyde) in.". And in the end of the movie, you see them fools in the back of the club kidnapping Dollar Bill. Why do you think Reggie and Clyde always mess with Ronnie? Because she's Dollar's head honcho, she's his #1 stripper. They get to Ronnie; they get to Dollar Bill. That's why I think there were two setups at Junior's bachelor party. Ebony was not only a victim in one plan, but she may have been a scapegoat in a much bigger plan.
That's a good theory but it was already confirmed that Reggie set Ebony up because she rejected his advances to sleep with him which is why he said at the end to Ronnie tell Ebony we do understand no do means no that had nothing to do with Dollar Bill St.Louis was already putting a hit out on him for refusing to pay his money so that could've been what Reggie was referring to.

The Players Club:fantastic movie and will give Ice Cube his props as a director……To be honest, Ice Cube pumped Junior’s head up to get at Ebony…..When Ebony was in the hotel room calling Diamond to pick her up, she should’ve snuck out of the window, called the cab and went home instead of going to Junior’s bachelor party…….
I agree she probably could’ve left if she really wanted to but she was so under Ronnie’s thumb and didn’t want to anger her. Until she was essentially abandoned and r-ed by Jr, I think ebony still thought Ronnie was her friend. That’s why I think she called diamond. She’s used to diamond coming in to play the bad guy. Like before, she didn’t get out the car until diamond made a fuss. In this case, if diamond showed up she had the excuse of “diamond made me leave” and thus could still be in Ronnie’s good graces.

Because when she found out her reaction and her actions was that of someone trying to protect their younger sibling. Scream to me"Here we Go again raping folks" for me that was one of the realest scenes in the entire movie... Because there are people in this world that are like that.... Damn. This is a hard question to answer. My answer is a two parter. I'd say sort of. Because when Junior's sister was asking around for girls to dance at Junior's bachelor party. Many of the girl's strongly declined. It's safe to assume he would try to fool around with them and say some freaky stuff. I'd also say no. With Ebony things went different. I feel prior Ebony, Junior was able to have maybe some fun with some willing girl's. And others were smart to avoid his advances. Also he or Ronnie could've threatened or paid girl's to stay silent on their encounters. I feel when Junior approached Ebony he wanted to play around a bit like he did with the other girls. But Ebony freaked out and aggressively tried to getaway from him. This made Junior FURIOUS. I can assume he'd never been told no before. Then proceeded to brutally beat and sexually assault Ebony. He thought nothing of it until Ronnie came in and saw what he done. Which made Junior panic. We saw afterwards with Ronnie her slapping around her brother that this never happened before. And both hauling ass. So yes he's messed around and did questionable things. But also no as I think he's never gone this far. My two cents.

i don’t think Ronnie set her up for nothing sexual to happen. in the hotel room we see Junior give Ronnie the money that he owed her for getting a stripper to come to the party to dance, that’s it. even in the hotel room as Junior was trying to peep through the room we clearly hear Ronnie tell him ‘she’s getting dressed’ while pushing him away which that’s an indication that she didn’t set Ebony up to be sexually assaulted but Ronnie got caught slippin’ when she got finessed into going outside to smoke. i do think that she was wrong for leaving Ebony by herself in the hotel room with a bunch of men but i don’t think that she set Ebony up because it would’ve been obvious for the police to go after Ronnie knowing that she’s the reason that Ebony was even at Junior’s party… he definitely was a predator he was ready to bust down that door to get to a woman he didn’t know from a can of paint

But with private bachelor parties, they pay a flat fee to the club for dancers. I’m not sure if the dancers get a percentage of that, but they do get tipped by the patrons and I’m pretty sure they get to keep all of it. But since Ronnie is a “dirt rascal pimp” she probably took a cut of everything. PS: we need a Hustle and Flow breakdown 😂. Also, most reputable clubs send the girls over with security for their protection so stuff like this doesn’t happen.

I think Junior and all the party attendants expected the women to be sexual. That was the end result of every other party shown. Ebony was willing to sell it before, so to him it solidified what she's there for. He shouldn't have done that to her and everyone shouldn't have left hearing her screaming. Ronnie expected her to let the whole party hit and would have scolded her if she didn't for missing out on money.

One thing I think this alludes to that when it comes to sex trafficking while it is male dominated women play a role in that as well. From the stories that I hear about women who were abducted and forced into prostitution usually it was a woman who approached them and gained there trust and then gave them to a man. So in the case of The Players Club, Ronnie gained her trust, she got her to come there and it was her brother that violated her.

By the way they made it look, they made it seem as though Ronnie genuinely didn’t know that was going to happen but knowing the origin of the character, something tells me that there was some sort of intent on her part. She violated Diamond when she was drunk and she tried to do it again in the dressing room. No other girl wanted to do it which is a huge red flag. Not to mention that Diamond had a regular at the club that found out where she lived. Before that happened, Diamond had pulled off to go home and Ronnie was sitting in her car like she was setting something up which means she had something to do with that situation as well. Ronnie was trash and that scene of ebony was so disturbing.

Even if she didn’t know that it was going to happen, it still looked like something that her character would intentionally set up. That’s what sucks about some of these storylines because it makes you wonder if her brother did some of the similar things previously.

For your information, I hated players club when it came out. 😒My name is Ebony and I was in middle school when it came out, but once I got to high school, folks used to always come and all, “you gone do Jr’s bachelor party??” Mind you I had already been SA’d by a few family members so it was hella traumatic for me. However as an adult I can appreciate the movie being made to show young girls like hey, yes it’s quick fast money BUT there can also be down sides to that lifestyle. And yeaaaaaa Ronnie was sorry af for pimping her out like that. I don’t think that she felt jr was gone go that far BUT she most definitely knew her brother would be up to no good. For your information: This is my fan theory along with facts. So when ebony was sent to live with diamond thats cause she was already acting out. So her mother sent her to live with her cousin in order to get some type of guidance. Even though diamond was a teen mother she was still in college and working so ebony’s mom figured it would be better for her older cousin to guide her along. Ebony had to already been drinking smoking and partying before she even started at the club which exacerbated it even more. Quiet as it’s kept but loud as seen Ronnie (whose a lesbian) always hanging with the guys and took on a masculine persona became a pimp to the new younger dancers. She was always recruiting the newbies to work the after parties for her. Remember she asked one dancer to work juniors party and the dancer told her no along with a few others because they already knew how her brother was. ( very telling that he has tried some of the other dancers before.) Ebony being ronnie’s new protégé ( ronnie gave her the makeover) since she aspired to get fast money like ronnie was willing to do whatever ronnie wanted cause she wanted to be cool and get a bag as well. This leading up to the unfortunate circumstances that ebony met. Its a painful lesson at the expense of being harmed. This is junior’s first time doing something of that nature , he probably attempted in the past and that why the other dancers didnt want to do the party. Reggie also knew what type of behavior junior would exhibit cause why would he tell him that if he didnt think nothing would happen. He knocked ebony out cold which caused her to have a broken jaw. Ronnie went into flight mode after seeing what junior did and knew he messed up again so she had to get him out of another situation….

Ronnie definitely set her up. The fact that Tricks wasn’t at the party was the dead giveaway. Maybe Ronnie didn’t know Junior would go that far but I do think she planned a train to be ran on Ebony. I believe that’s what she was charging Junior for because who charges their sibling to host their bachelor party?

There is so much to unpack in Ebony’s story (Shoutout to Monica Calhoun cause between Ebony and Mia she doesn’t get enough credit) I think Ronnie became fond of Ebony and didn’t think her brother would go that far with someone that she kept so close. I definitely think Junior has done this before or just known to be aggressive with the dancers. It was very telling when Vanilla said “hell no you better get somebody else to do it.” But at the same time I wouldn’t expect Junior to be different after seeing how aggressive Ronnie was towards Diamond. Ebony’s side had the biggest cautionary tale of not being naive and being safe as a woman and not forgetting to watch the company you keep. Reggie and them were way too comfortable taking advantage of her knowing that she was drunk so it wasn’t surprising when Reggie set Junior to Ebony’s path the way he did. And the fact that ALL those men were outside the door and NOBODY busted through to help her still pisses me off. The r**e was tragic enough, what if she would’ve died. Not one person that was in that room bothered to help her
I think what diamond meant by the "stay professional" line is for ebony to keep it on the inside. No drinking or outside of the club extra activities that involves money.
In my opinion, I think there were TWO setups during this scene. The first one obviously is Ronnie setting up Ebony, the second one that maybe only a few people notice is the Reggie and Clyde setting up Ronnie. Why? To get to Dollar Bill.
Let me explain:
Reggie tells Clyde to go take Ronnie outside to smoke. Once those two leave, Reggie convinces Junior to "smash" Ebony. Remember, he lies to Junior about him and Clyde running a train on her, which indicates he knows about Junior's past assaults. When Ronnie and Clyde come back in while everyone is leaving, Reggie tells Clyde, "We gotta handle that thang.". That thang meaning going to The Players Club complete the trap.
Keep in mind, Reggie and Clyde, along with Brooklynn and KC work for St. Louis. In the beginning of the movie Saint tell Brooklynn and KC, "Send them fools (Reggie/Clyde) in.". And in the end of the movie, you see them fools in the back of the club kidnapping Dollar Bill. Why do you think Reggie and Clyde always mess with Ronnie? Because she's Dollar's head honcho, she's his #1 stripper. They get to Ronnie; they get to Dollar Bill.
That's why I think there were two setups at Junior's bachelor party. Ebony was not only a victim in one plan, but she may have been a scapegoat in a much bigger plan.
That's a good theory but it was already confirmed that Reggie set Ebony up because she rejected his advances to sleep with him which is why he said at the end to Ronnie tell Ebony we do understand no do means no that had nothing to do with Dollar Bill St.Louis was already putting a hit out on him for refusing to pay his money so that could've been what Reggie was referring to.

I agree she probably could’ve left if she really wanted to but she was so under Ronnie’s thumb and didn’t want to anger her. Until she was essentially abandoned and r-ed by Jr, I think ebony still thought Ronnie was her friend. That’s why I think she called diamond. She’s used to diamond coming in to play the bad guy. Like before, she didn’t get out the car until diamond made a fuss. In this case, if diamond showed up she had the excuse of “diamond made me leave” and thus could still be in Ronnie’s good graces.

My answer is a two parter.
I'd say sort of. Because when Junior's sister was asking around for girls to dance at Junior's bachelor party. Many of the girl's strongly declined. It's safe to assume he would try to fool around with them and say some freaky stuff.
I'd also say no. With Ebony things went different. I feel prior Ebony, Junior was able to have maybe some fun with some willing girl's. And others were smart to avoid his advances. Also he or Ronnie could've threatened or paid girl's to stay silent on their encounters.
I feel when Junior approached Ebony he wanted to play around a bit like he did with the other girls.
But Ebony freaked out and aggressively tried to getaway from him.
This made Junior FURIOUS. I can assume he'd never been told no before. Then proceeded to brutally beat and sexually assault Ebony.
He thought nothing of it until Ronnie came in and saw what he done.
Which made Junior panic.
We saw afterwards with Ronnie her slapping around her brother that this never happened before. And both hauling ass.
So yes he's messed around and did questionable things. But also no as I think he's never gone this far.

I also liked how they cast a woman as a pimp in this movie. One thing I think this alludes to that when it comes to sex trafficking while it is male dominated women play a role in that as well. So in the case of The Players Club, Ronnie gained her trust, she got her to come there and it was her brother that violated her.

Before that happened, Diamond had pulled off to go home and Ronnie was sitting in her car like she was setting something up which means she had something to do with that situation as well. Ronnie was trash and that scene of ebony was so disturbing.

Of course he did. That’s why no other women wanted to work that birthday party with Ronnie. Ronnie didn’t want to do the job alone but she knew he’d done something like that before. That was crazy. That’s why she never asked a 2nd time from other girls at the club.

For your information, I hated players club when it came out. 😒My name is Ebony and I was in middle school when it came out, but once I got to high school, folks used to always come and all, “you gone do Jr’s bachelor party??” Mind you I had already been SA’d by a few family members so it was hella traumatic for me. However as an adult I can appreciate the movie being made to show young girls like hey, yes it’s quick fast money BUT there can also be down sides to that lifestyle.
And yeaaaaaa Ronnie was sorry af for pimping her out like that. I don’t think that she felt jr was gone go that far BUT she most definitely knew her brother would be up to no good. Hell everybody in there looked sketchy 😭
For your information: This is my fan theory along with facts. So when ebony was sent to live with diamond thats cause she was already acting out. So her mother sent her to live with her cousin in order to get some type of guidance. Even though diamond was a teen mother she was still in college and working so ebony’s mom figured it would be better for her older cousin to guide her along. Ebony had to already been drinking smoking and partying before she even started at the club which exacerbated it even more. Quiet as it’s kept but loud as seen Ronnie (whose a lesbian) always hanging with the guys and took on a masculine persona became a pimp to the new younger dancers. She was always recruiting the newbies to work the after parties for her. Remember she asked one dancer to work juniors party and the dancer told her no along with a few others because they already knew how her brother was. ( very telling that he has tried some of the other dancers before.) Ebony being ronnie’s new protégé ( ronnie gave her the makeover) since she aspired to get fast money like ronnie was willing to do whatever ronnie wanted cause she wanted to be cool and get a bag as well. This leading up to the unfortunate circumstances that ebony met. Its a painful lesson at the expense of being harmed. This is junior’s first time doing something of that nature , he probably attempted in the past and that why the other dancers didnt want to do the party. Reggie also knew what type of behavior junior would exhibit cause why would he tell him that if he didnt think nothing would happen. He knocked ebony out cold which caused her to have a broken jaw. Ronnie went into flight mode after seeing what junior did and knew he messed up again so she had to get him out of another situation….
