The mother was trying to live vicariously through her daughter. If she could pull a man like Kenneth at her age, she would. Also, she was struggling financially. She wanted her daughter to have a man with money so that her daughter could keep providing for her. The money was what made her define him as a good man. Good men don't cheat on their wives.
In Dreamgirls, Jimmy Early (Eddie Murphy’s character) was married the entire 8 years he was with Lorelle. 😭 he was with her so much I forgot he had a wife. I started thinking he had gotten divorced. That’s one of the main romance plots I can think of where one person was married the entire time.
That's a great point! Jimmy had practically left his wife, or maybe it was just that they were together since they spent most of their time on the road. Now I wanna watch that movie again. BTW, I love that song Jimmy sang "I Meant You No Harm".
@@HeitCheri omg. Dreamgirls is my fave movie! I can watch it 24/7. 😂 & yes, I love that song too! I loved all of his performances. But, that makes sense too. He probably saw Lorelle more than he saw his wife bc of their job.

And on the subject of that song, I always wished they had done a full version for the soundtrack without the comedy rap part at the end. Just sing the whole thing like the beginning!

Honestly men have this way of making woman feel in love with them vs actually being in love. Sex makes everyone happy including women. If he’s unhappy in a marriage that means he’s looking for someone or something to satisfy him cause he fell in love with his wife for a reason and now he’s looking for another reason to leave her. Marriage isn’t always about happiness but also about knowing yourself that man is lost lol

But he got a good job, he's handsome and successful and he LOVES you girl! lol. The mama didn't see the manipulation. Another good video. I loved your breakdown of this dynamic. Savannahs' mom and her DESPERATION about Savannah possibly losing a "good man" could have really done so much to mess up Savannah's life. I do think that her mom loves her. I actually see glimpses of my mom when I watch this movie. But I do hope that this movie really helped women see what's wrong with the way that her mom thought.

Funny thing is in the part 2 book she ended up in a lucky marriage that she shouldn't have gotten in to in the 1st place. Nobody would peer pressure me into blowing up my life. After all that she accomplished her mother was still making her feel like she wasn't ish because it was more than likely in her future to be unmarried. Not necessarily single forever but without a husband . In her mother's day the need for a spouse was rarely emotional and savanah didn't have those needs. They lady messed her up.

Yes she did. That part of the conversion we were talking about Robin and the impact of raising her baby alone on her budget. Also we were talking about the mother who clearly doesn't have enough money. Savannah clearly had plenty of money for herself and her mother. Hopefully it didn't seem like we were saying she needed a man to take care of her. She wanted a man, and that's what we were also speaking to... How she could get what she wanted in a healthier situation.
