In Dreamgirls, Jimmy Early (Eddie Murphy’s character) was married the entire 8 years he was with Lorelle. 😭 he was with her so much I forgot he had a wife. I started thinking he had gotten divorced. That’s one of the main romance plots I can think of where one person was married the entire time.
That's a great point! Jimmy had practically left his wife, or maybe it was just that they were together since they spent most of their time on the road. Now I wanna watch that movie again. BTW, I love that song Jimmy sang "I Meant You No Harm".
@@HeitCheri omg. Dreamgirls is my fave movie! I can watch it 24/7. 😂 & yes, I love that song too! I loved all of his performances. But, that makes sense too. He probably saw Lorelle more than he saw his wife bc of their job.
@Chrysyyyy I love that movie too! I remember getting the soundtrack when it came out! Heit hates musicals, but I can play that soundtrack back and forth! 😄
And on the subject of that song, I always wished they had done a full version for the soundtrack without the comedy rap part at the end. Just sing the whole thing like the beginning!
@@HeitCheri omg. My dad hated how much we would play the soundtrack in the car! 😂😂 esp when we would be in the car singing/reciting “It’s All Over” & they def should’ve done a full version of that song. Because it really was a good song. 😭😭
The mother was trying to live vicariously through her daughter. If she could pull a man like Kenneth at her age, she would. Also, she was struggling financially. She wanted her daughter to have a man with money so that her daughter could keep providing for her. The money was what made her define him as a good man. Good men don't cheat on their wives.
This is crazy it was a good movie about girlfriends but whew they had a lot going on. Ppl have to realize that happiness comes and goes you can’t make anyone happy they have to do that themselves.
This soundtrack is one of the most congruent with its motion picture of any that I can think of. Great take on the lyrics Ri. I low key think its movies like this and soul food that always set unrealistic goals for Tyler Perry Movies.
DESPERATION!!!! Fun facts: Dennis Haysbert appeared on 227. Starlita Dupois & Robert Townsend were mother & son in Odd Jobs & Hollywood Shuffle. She was also in Strapped, Three Strikes & Friday After Next.
Honestly men have this way of making woman feel in love with them vs actually being in love. Sex makes everyone happy including women. If he’s unhappy in a marriage that means he’s looking for someone or something to satisfy him cause he fell in love with his wife for a reason and now he’s looking for another reason to leave her. Marriage isn’t always about happiness but also about knowing yourself that man is lost lol
Tasha's mother on Power is just like Savanah's mother. Don't let him get away is their motto. You can't keep anybody who doesn't want to be kept. Not Savanah or the wife.
Desperation lol Savannah's mom was aware of Kenneth cheating but felt like he checked enough other boxes that one little flaw would ruin him for her daughter. She felt like cheating is minor. But he got a good job, he's handsome and successful and he LOVES you girl! lol. The mama didn't see the manipulation. She just felt like anything is better than no man and you could do a lot worse than a man like Kenneth. smh. Mama was speaking out of experience and fear

Funny thing is in the part 2 book she ended up in a lucky marriage that she shouldn't have gotten in to in the 1st place. Nobody would peer pressure me into blowing up my life. After all that she accomplished her mother was still making her feel like she wasn't ish because it was more than likely in her future to be unmarried. Not necessarily single forever but without a husband . In her mother's day the need for a spouse was rarely emotional and savanah didn't have those needs. They lady messed her up.
Another good video. I loved your breakdown of this dynamic. Savannahs' mom and her DESPERATION about Savannah possibly losing a "good man" could have really done so much to mess up Savannah's life. I do think that her mom loves her. I actually see glimpses of my mom when I watch this movie. But I do hope that this movie really helped women see what's wrong with the way that her mom thought.
DONT LET THE ALLSTATE MAN NEAR YOUR OVARIES LADIES😂😂 He did the same thing to halle berry in queen. The sidechicks were raised to be sidechicks was a whole sermon. Mama just trifling. She didn't give af how that turned out. Too many women are dead because of love triangles. I have the book and watched the movie. It's a good story but alllll the women are desperate.
Not a black classic but in "the wedding planner" the movie is about a woman falling in love with her male client whos getting married and it follows the romcom formula as if im suppose to root for this... like what 😅
As a gen z who avidly watches yall, we've been saying rizz for a few months now lol. And someone without charisma is also known as having "negative rizz" 😂
Gen z here. Yes they use rizz if im not mistaken it came from one of the streamers in the group AMP. i could be wrong tho. But that term is played out now. I havent heard anyone use it recently.
My kids say riz and just like everything else, they don't ever know the roots of their slang. I can explain my generations ebonics. 😊 They're calling hot dogs glizzies for no reason. A glizzy was a code word for a Glock when I was young, like gliz- ock. 😊
Yes she did. That part of the conversion we were talking about Robin and the impact of raising her baby alone on her budget. Also we were talking about the mother who clearly doesn't have enough money. Savannah clearly had plenty of money for herself and her mother. Hopefully it didn't seem like we were saying she needed a man to take care of her. She wanted a man, and that's what we were also speaking to... How she could get what she wanted in a healthier situation.

Would you both consider doing a video on Two Can Play at That Game, or is that movie already self explanatory? 😅
