The girl tasted the first soup and it was too hot. Then she tasted the 2nd soup and it was too cold. The 3rd one was just about the right temperature...... Wow! Think of the Sun and planets near it? What planet is the 3rd one? Earth of course. And how about planets more near to the Sun? Too hot... And planets after Earth? Too cold.... Planet Earth (She) and all life before us and after us just happens to be trapped in the right distance from the Sun to make life possible.

    A few thoughts:
    - The harmonies are actually three part with Troy the pipe player also singing. The camera rarely focuses on Troy during the singing. The three of them were also doing the animal grunts, including Floor, but the editor has a thing about showing Floor making unladylike noises. Remember this if you want to react to "Yours is an Empty Hope" from the same concert at Wembley.
    - The Metallica riff was part of the history of music that also included, Bach, a harpsichord, EDM, banjos, and tribal drums.
    - The narration at the end by Dawkins is from the last paragraph of the Origin of Species.
    - The text is dotted with scientific terms that fit the narrative. Have Google handy when reading the lyrics.
    - Check out the Tampere version as well. It's outdoors in Finland so we don't get Dawkins, but we do get fireworks.
    - If you're interested in checking out Floor's vocal acrobatics, here's a few suggestions: "Romanticide" at Wacken 2013, "Yours is an Empty Hope" at either Wembley or Mexico City (not the crappy official version), "Phantom of the Opera" with Henk Poort and Nightwish in Amsterdam at the Ziggo Dome, "Shoemaker" live or in studio, the "Ad Astra" outro to any of their more recent concerts. Then there's all of her performances with her previous bands, ReVamp and After Forever.

    Btw that part after the second verse of the part "the toolmaker" where they slow down and lower volume and reenter with a bit harpsichord and banjos then go to Bach's Toccata and Fugue from Symphonie in D minor they also include a piece of minuet then go to that riff from Enter Sandman by Metallica...as well some small piece of Techno sounding like prodigy is Thomas's way to do a small review on evolution of music

    • @kimmomatikainen1843
      @kimmomatikainen1843 Месяц назад +2

      There are few other music types in the section besides the ones you listed. It starts from a time way before harpsichord. There is also tribal and Gregorian chant (Dies Irae). I think there should be Rock Around The Clock too, but haven't found it. It has to be certain place, but it is not there or I don't know the song well enough.
      Just a small correction to a name that you probably know. Tuomas, not Thomas. Well, Tuomas is basically Finnish equivalent to Thomas so it is not far off. Personally I don't mind how people say or write it though. You apparently know their music so I wanted to mention that.

    • @MikkoRantalainen
      @MikkoRantalainen Месяц назад +1

      I think the idea of all those music fragments is to give the listener understanding of the timescales. The time goes pretty fast from Bach (1700s) to Metallica (1991) followed by 2000s techno music. It demonstrates evolution of music as a bonus but I take that the original idea was to demonstrate time passing and those were understandable calibration points.

There is an interview with Dawkins about this before the concert. He was really nervous. Tuomas, & the band work with the London Philharmonic Orchestra, & their related choirs, for their music, created by Tuomas Halopanien. They don't use live orchestras. They are a tight group, their concerts mastered with long associated crews!

    If you more into prog metal, try "Ayreon - The Day That The World Breaks Down", a project by Dutch master-mind hippie Arjen Lucassen (2m07 tall..) who invited 11 metal singers for an awesome album. You may find some interesting and familiar faces.

    Welcome to the 21th century Mozart, Beethoven and Bach, combined into one genius individual. I foresee future generations still enjoying this. Eternal quality and beauty. Tuomas is absolutely amazing.
    In that same league I place Arjen Lucassen from Ayreon and Steven Wilson from Porcupine Tree. Those three composers are at the very top.

    Tuomas, the keyboard player (genius composer and the one who created this whole thing 😉) has a bottle of wine or 2 in a special holder on his stand LOL.
    The Metallica Riff ended a brief histiry of music in which started with the Harpischord you heard. There are a ton of easter eggs.
    Check out "7 Days to the Wolves" for another banger from this same show. Epic!
    With Nightwish, good music is just good music.
    The entire 2013 Wacken show is easily considered one of the best concerts ever. You guys should check it out !
    Nightwish fans would show up. We love it. ❤️

    Kai in “Beast Mode” on the drum kit..as usual🤘

    YEs, you guys have heard that riff from Emppu before, it was of course ENTER SANDMAN, this was the part of the song, where the (Tuomas) band gave a nod to his influences in music from Dueling banjos and Brahms Lullaby to Enter Sandman and others ....
    Tuomas decided to get into metal after seeing Metallica in concert when he was in the states as a youth. Prior to that he was planning on starting a folk music band i believe.

    Nightwish is a dish best served LIVE. The intro is a slow burn for a reason. The solar system took some time to coalesce.

    The seamless blend of symphonic and rock is reminscent of the Moody Blues (if you're old enough.) Holopainen is the first composer to do it well in half a century.

    In this version, Troy plays in the intro an electric guitar with an e-bow. Making it sound more like a violin or cello. Also Richard Dawkins on stage. In the Tampere version, Troy plays pipes in the intro, and we'll timed fireworks.

    Nightwish does have a backing track for there symphony but Tuomas the keyboard player and founder is known to travel to the U.K. and writes the music note by note for the London philharmonic orchestra. Floor has also lent her vocals backing track music. could you imagine touring with a full orchestra how expensive that would be?

    Yeah....anything live from Nightwish is amazing. Romanticide, Storytime, and Ghost Love Score from Wacken 2013 are all amazing. I Want My Tears Back live in Argentina is an experience. Stargazers Live from Tampere. You really can't go wrong. Floor Jansen is indeed 6'1" tall, and likely 6'4" or taller in heels. She's a Valkyrie.

    That is actually why I love Nightwish and for example Ayreon aswell, live. It is meant to be consumed fully, with all visual and audio. It is really theatrical in that sense. Love to be entertained that way. There are quite a few songs recorded that would entertain you this way.

    Yes, Thomas is the main composer creativity behind Nightwish and if you guys like this version, I would highly suggest doing the Wembley version. It will knock your socks off I mean, absolutely gob smacked.
    And yes, floor is 6 foot one or 62 I believe and those little chills and goosebumps you get when you listen to her hit some of those high notes are what we all affectionately called floor gasms

    There are two other epic masterpieces that are usually put with this one: Ghost Love Score (Wacken Live) and The Poet and the Pendulum (from this concert at Wembley). There is also an equal, but different live performance of this song at Tampere live. Someone comments on it below. It is outdoor and they hook up fireworks to Tuomas' keyboards in the intro and outro. If you want us all back, and subscribing, you react to these as well. ::grin::

    Do Jason a favor and review some of their harder stuff next time. Tuomas, their composer doesn't like growling much, yet there is a song he wrote, where Floor could do her gowlings throughout the refrains. Fairly unexpected at first as anybody expects ther male vocalist doing the gowling while Floor ought to do the clean vocals. However it is the other way round. The song's named "Yours Is An Empty Hope" and there are several live recordings available on RUclips, each with its own pros and cons, so you might choose, whichever you want.

    if no one has mentioned it, Floor stands over6 feet tall, and habitually wears 4 to 5 inch heels........Tuomas (the Metal Mozart) Holopainen has three Korg keyboards in that set.......he writes 95% of the band's music, and lyrics........a hundred years from now, this will played as Bach, Mozart, and Beethoven are performed and recorded today.......
