      Condolences from The Netherlands. ❤❤❤
My parents, together 70 years, died last year within a few days of each other, natural deaths, double funeral. I had a Floor song called Mama (in Dutch) and Marco Hietala “Isäni ääni” the Finnish version, at the funeral. My dad was 93 like your father, only 3 weeks short of 94. That’s what Nightwish does. Opens doors. Never imagined I’d have a Finnish song at my parents’ funeral.
A few years prior I lost my husband. Nightwish music and Floor’s voice were my salvation and they still are today.

This song made me reminisce of being a child, hearing those calming, soothing swaddling songs that gently carried you to sleep. Unusually simple, for Toumas, but deceptively simple as upon hearing it a second time I picked up additional layers. I'm loving the hell out of it.

About (part of) the movie scenes in the background: I recognized pope Leo XIII and wiki is saying:
"Leo XIII, who was born in 1810 and was thus 86 years old in 1896, is considered the earliest-born person ever to be captured on film. The images of him are well-known, and recently were enhanced and colorized on-line.”

Thanks for sharing your reaction to a song that Tuomas wrote to celebrate the life of his father that passed away in 2021. For me it empowers us to recognize our connection to nature and one another, ultimately signifying that even in times of uncertainty, despair & sorrow, there is beauty and hope to be found under the glow of the lanternlight.
P.S. Their new album "Yesterwynde" is a sonic masterpiece.

"An Ocean Of Strange Islands" is definetely the peak of the new album. When ever someone pays you to react to that, make sure WolfKain is along. He will like it as its very classic "Nightwish".

    • @MacZussie
      @MacZussie Месяц назад

it includes a peaceful note for Marko Hietala...WolfKain might detect it with ease...it's just the 2nd song of the album, which has more peaks, but this the most Power Metal song of iz snd Floor's doing Warp speed and her intonation of the vocals is crazy accurate.
Please, please, do Yesterwynde & Strange Islands TOGETHER. Yesterwynde is too short for an individual reaction, yet works as a perfect, calm intro to what comes next on the album!!! Highly recommended.

Half Life Sistah - I knew you would feel this song deeply!
    So Beautiful. 🤍
Wolfkain, this song was the first song Tuomas wrote on the album Yesterwynde as a tribute to his father. It is the last song on the album, the last song of the Trilogy.
Tuomas has hinted there are a number of “Easter Eggs” in this album’s songs, music, lyrics & videos that tie into each other & previous songs / albums. He notes this now concludes the theme of Human / Nature & Timeless.
Any new album released will be new topics.
Listen to the whole Yesterwynde album - in track order - we will be here for it! 😊

This is another Tuomas Holopainen masterpiece. He only keeps on getting better as his talent and vision matures. Absolutely stunning. This composition is as deep as the Marianas Trench and has more layers than a baklava. It is exquisite.
I'm 73 and I am the last man standing in my family. I am the last of my line. So this performance runs deep, cuts deep. I understand the feeling of loss, yet I still live with hope and intent. No small thing to live with intent. Nevertheless, Floor's voice and this composition is akin to an emotional depth charge to the heart. There is a tenderness and vulnerability there that I have not heard before, and it just breaks you. And her face, good Lord, her beautiful face so expressive and adorned with nothing save her heart and soul just melts me to my core. I am not ashamed to say that this staggeringly beautiful composition and the meaning behind it makes me want to cry on Floor’s shoulder. I’m sure she would understand. The poetry of this song is also heart-rendingly exquisite. It is a poem, a prayer, an elegy. Listen to it. Just listen to it. Tuomas’ poetry can easily stand alone. Some of you get it. Some of you don't. I do, and that's all that matters. Kiitos to all of you in Nightwish for delivering such epic and emotional story telling.

I loved human II nature, but yesterwynde is amazing. It is a natural evolution from the previous albums. Some complain about the mix on this album, that floor would be to low in the mix, but I don't think so. The orchestration is a very strong in this album, and I think the vocals are well used, like another instrument.
Three album is heavier, but in many ways, more varied. There are many moments where it was surprising. This album is a true journey. I think you should listen to human II nature first (including the instrumental second disc) and then take this album. I'd recommend sticking to the order of the songs in the album. This song is somewhat connected to our decades in the sun ("I climbed off your back not too long ago")
