The crunchy gearbox… well you have a point there I’ve definitely felt better gear changes on other bikes. The ergo is quite comfy IMO if you want it to be more upright you can get risers. The seat issue is too common to even mention I can’t sit on it for more than an hour.
Just got mine a few weeks ago, only 450km so far and I agree with most of your points, haven't hit any false neutrals and keeping it under 6k rpm for the break in.
Congrats on your new bike! That’s good you shift firmly then. False neutrals only happens if you’re complacent I find. Hope you’re having fun with your new bike the 2021 model has a better front fork.

Or do what I do to my cb650r which is add heavy bar insert weights and foam grips to suppress the vibration. Heavy bar ends are the best but i have bar end mirrors on mine.
Funny how I'm totaly agree with you. I love this motocycle, but the buzzy feeling above 5000 rpm is partularly anoying during a long trip. And you're right with the rest (except maybe the neutral problem, maybe yours has a "bug?").
In my experience it only buzzes from like 6000-7000rpm and then the buzz goes away and even when it does buzz it's minor. Maybe its different from bike to bike.
The only thing I don't like about this bike is the seat is a concrete block after an hour of riding. I can't really pick anything else out I don't like *Those false neutrals I had trouble with for a while, while the gearbox is butter smooth, you just have to focus on a firm and precise shift. Because it's so precise One moment of laziness with a shift can throw it into a false neutral
Ya false neutral is just something I need to sort myself. It’s better recently. One point I think deserves to be on the list is the throttle free play. It’s a bit excessive but that’s easy to adjust. I didn’t put the seat being hard in the list with hope that given time the seat will sink in and soften like they do on my other bike.
The vibes on my 650r were very bad after running in. Though the seat mainly. It seems to differ from bike to bike. It has improved after more use at high revs. But, still isn't great. I agree with you about the TC switch. Very annoying. I've got used to the indicator position.
The vibration is still very obvious to me but I've gotten used to the it now and having plenty of usable torque lower down means I don't reach higher revs a lot. Maybe we should try the elixir for smooth engine which is the Motul 300v for the next service? heard good things about that engine oil.
Hi there. I didn’t have a chance to ride the 797 properly but from my initial impression it’s a ‘friendly’ monster cos I owned a 795 which is all shakes and jolts making it exciting to ride. I think both would be okay depends on what you want. Of course a Ducati is more special and the v twin will have a character that other bikes don’t have. but if you love a smooth 4 cylinder the cb is the one to get. If you’re concerned about maintenance and service cost get the Honda haha
I’d still say it’s quite good for a big bike but it’s a big bike, still heavy. You can definitely feel the weight when manoeuvring around. It has decent turning radius makes it easy to weave.
Hey bro. I bought it from a Malaysian website but I found this one on Ali express looks exactly the same from the photos. Here you go. a.aliexpress.com/_mM3PNrF
You had this for 3 months from new? You can get false neutrals for few thousand km as it needs some breaking in period. I had something similar on my BMW G310R and it was very annoying, but the gearbox got smoother later.
The false neutral is a common issue with this bike and it’s still around, I just got used to shifting properly and the racetorx shift assist definitely helps identify the issue.
Hi there. I actually have. The mt09 has too much going on I’m not at peace to feel the vibrations haha. Here’s a link. ruclips.net/video/N99Cyun33t8/видео.html
Did u find the front headlight a little powerless? I was expecting much more brightness ... Many times I have to open the long lights to rly see in front of me, but that's a problem for my front people..
It's a common issue with this bike that the headlight is aimed very low from the factory. I adjusted mine up a couple inches and it helped but not completely. For a couple hundred bucks I installed some Denali driving lights on the forks and it's 200% better
Nice review, not the same thing as other videos mentioned. You pointed out something new. Question with the buzzy engine, it occurs at every gear ? And disappear after 8k rpm ?
Thanks for the compliment my friend. The buzzy character is apparent in gears 1/2/3 because the bike is still stable and not too fast at those revs. Above 8000rpm it’s still there but you’ll kind of forget it’s there as you need to focus on the speed lol. At gear 4/5/6 you’ll probably more focused on other vibrations from the wind and road rather than the engine. Not sure if that helps hope it makes sense.
Have the same bike, when I first started riding it (first 2000km or so) used to get lots of false neutrals to the point I thought something was wrong with it, sometimes even at high speeds, and when it got back into gear it made a loud thump (scary, but the bike is perfectly fine and can take those). Turns out it was me all along, I was doing sloppy and indecisive foot shifting, now at 8000km haven't had a false neutral in ages. Got a pair of proper boots and that also helped a lot, but generally you must push and lift the shift lever with a decisive motion, else you risk getting it stuck in between gears. Also the OEM 10w30 oil sucked for me, I'm running on 10w40 oil now and it's soo much smoother since it's not overly thin at hight temps, meaning better lubrication and smoother shifting. Hope this helps !

Decent review. I share some of these issues after owning mone for over a year. Be aware that all brake hoses are steel-braided. It's just that its concealed under a surface layer of rubber. The Ducati has an external braiding sheath (possibly in conjunction with embedded braiding). But this is done more for aesthetics. In Australia, this model is ECU- restricted for learner approval requirements. The way yours launched from the lights really highlighted the difference from my bike.

But the monster given its character and grunt it’s hard work for daily commutes. For spirited riding wise both are fun in their own ways too. @@francisho3056 that’s the character of the single bro. I have a Ducati Monster too it vibrates and that’s it’s own character. I love that it does it that way. Just can’t stand too much ‘character’ while commuting in heavy traffic hence why I have the CB. The CB650R in comparison is sooo smoooooth.
In fact probably the only bike that I think can compete in terms of smoothness is a triumph street triple.
@@RUBBERNMETAL btw for the handle bar inserts, you can push the inserts slowly by hammering it without the pin, the inserts has its rubber Oring and it will just stay there. In future if you need to remove it, you need to stick in a long screw and pull it out. The idea came from a Japanese owner which they did for their CB. If you need pictures for illustration. You can reach to my Instagram account at kethon27. Cheers
@@francisho3056 hey dude thanks for the super useful advise I spoke to a friend and he mentioned the same method too. Will be trying that out soon after the holidays. Either that or will be looking to install the CBR650R clip on handlebars if it’s not too aggressive.
so would u say the 796 ducati monster is better?
They’re very different they scratch a different itch. Some say the CB can be very vanilla quite dull cos it’s very sorted and easy. For me I need that for daily commutes and if I need things to be a little more interesting I have the monster to shake me up a little. But the monster given its character and grunt it’s hard work for daily commutes.
For spirited riding wise both are fun in their own ways too. Monster has that low end grunt and thumping sensation which is brutal in its own way. The CB is a screamer and composed it comes alive in the higher revs.
Since I use the bike as a commuter with some weekend use, the Honda is more suited for me overall. But which is better? I really don’t know and I cannot decide.
@@RUBBERNMETAL thanks for your feedback , am looking to get a weekend bike for fun . appreciate your reviews
@@RUBBERNMETAL btw is the monster 797 better than the 796?
@@jkpisces I’ve tried the 797 briefly before and I feel that it’s easier to ride (very Japanese feeling) but at the same time it has lost a bit of the raw character that is familiar with ducatis found in the 795/796. I guess it’s less intimidating and easier to familiarize with compared to the older monsters (I didn’t like nor understand the Monster when I first tried the 795/796).
@@jkpisces btw for weekend fun I’d say get a Monster. The feeling of riding a Ducati is more special than riding a Honda IMO. Power wise you’ll have more fun with the Ducati torque probably.
daripada ducati tukar ke Honda CB650R?
Yea betul bro 7 tahun pakai ducati. Sbk pon pernah pakai.
vibration is way to high on this one :(
Nice content.... Mantap...
Thank you bro!!
@@RUBBERNMETAL bro, since it's a daily workhorse, dah buat valve clearance for it ? Kat mileage berapa?
@@adrianchiew2288 daily workhorse for wfh season for now and mileage is only 4,000km. Definitely long to go until a valve clearance is due.
@@RUBBERNMETAL sweet... thanks for the info
@@adrianchiew2288 no problem. If you haven’t bought it’s not a bad buy but nowadays there’s a few alternatives in the market assuming you’re malaysian.
agreed every things except first and second
Thanks for the comment bro!
Nice I have one, and your exactly right. 👍
Overall its a great bike right?
if you learned to ride on a honda you are used to the turn signal and horn switched, its just a honda thing (dont know why)
Yea exactly it is a Honda thing and it was confusing when I was alternating bikes before this.
My hard dropped before see this video because I ordered cb650r on the way coming. But when i sow your 6 bad things😅. I'm Ok with that. 😂
Haha hope you’re enjoying your bike bro. I still love mine and enjoy everytime I get on it.
You know the bike is good when most of your pet peeves are about the controls 😉
Exactly well said my friend. It’s an amazing bike overall small tiny imperfections are annoying and most of them are not a big deal or fixable.
Enjoy the ride... 👍
Thanks man! Stay safe!
You should push the bike. The engine wont last as long if its not used with all rev ranges. Same as cars the commuter cars fail fastest since low rpm and contant long ride speeds.
Hey dude been watching through your videos aftet getting my own 650r, ive never had false neutral on mine. Hope it dosnt start doing that now aha!
Hey bro congrats on getting an awesome bike! They don’t happen very often don’t worry. You probably have a firmer shift which is always good.
done sub to ur channel sir.. been looking at YT review for this bike for a while...maybe someday for my 1st big/newbie bike
Thanks for your support bro! I hope you get your dream bike soon. So many good ones out there now.
The lights are no good
Not bad for a naked bike tho. I’ve experienced worse.
Very true everything, got mine too 2021 red :) but still best bike for the money you pay. cb1000r is too expensive, ducati too. yamaha has bad quality -> so I bought 650r. I blinked long light to passing people for first month and after that long time I realized that was throttle control button - idiot :)) it is placed on very wrong place. And the same goes to horn button, honking to everyone on every corner -> will have to cut the cables :)) 7. thing is seats, they are so damn hard to sit on, It's like sitting on a rock, at this moment while typing this I have 3(three) pillows under my ass after making only 100km today on a bike :)))
Haha I’m glad you agree with my points. Yes the seat is hard everyone says that about this bike, long journeys will be painful unfortunately. There’s an easy upgrade for that. On the false neutrals you can get racetorx which mine is otw here.
I can tell you havnt ridden many modern Hondas. All switch gear is set that way. Your nitpicking the bike over lame shit. As a rider of 45 years I have one of these little bikes. All the things you cry about are trinkets a real rider doesn't give a shit about.
It's smooth after 7k rpm..
Maybe if you compare it to a twin or a single yes it is.
The gearbox sucks. yes.
you are a yamaha rider bro..
Haha what makes you say that man? I’ve never ridden a Yamaha come to think about it 🤔
I just thought about it I have ridden a Yamaha once. An R15 but only briefly.
Feel build quality not ..honda..
Just jual lah murah2 dkt saya 😁
sayang sgt motor ni bang nak beli harga brand new pon Saya tak lepaskan hehe saje je tu komplen manja
You can do better videos..
Thanks for your comment. You mean the way the video is done or other types of videos?
Let me know what you think yea I’ll take it as constructive feedback.
@@RUBBERNMETAL your video is just fine bro, don’t listen to the other guy, he’s a troll.
@@P1015532oni thanks bro! It’s good to hear if he/she had any proper feedback I guess none until now so probably another internet troll not adding any value to the community.
the 5 bad thing and annoying about that bike is your voice.
Hey kiddo how did you get here, this is not under RUclips for kids. Go brush your teeth it’s time for bed.
