    The use manual say “no hard acceleration or deceleration for first 500km”. I rode mine gently for the first 100, then normally for the next 400 but without full throttle or high rpm and then when I got over 500km I started riding it normally even with full throttle and higher rpm but just not pinning it all the way to redline and not holding it at high rpm. Also I never lugged the engine at low rpm because that’s the worst thing you can do to a new engine. I’m up to 1,400km now and the engine feels great. It has definitely loosened up and sings so nicely at high rpm, it feels effortless. Those tiny little pistons and connecting rods are happy spinning fast unlike twin cylinder engines with much larger and heavier pistons. Loving my CB650R!

    So cool to see you ride ti all the way up to 200 plus. I dont know what the laws are like where you are, there is no way I can ride here at that sort of speed, and even less so to put it online..
    The mountain pass looked really nice, love roads like that..

    • @RUBBERNMETAL
      @RUBBERNMETAL  3 года назад

      Yea on a nice not so busy day its a good road to ride. I don't go up to 200kmh regularly and I really need to slow down hence buying a naked bike to have the wind remind me if I'm going too fast. There are many who are way faster at these roads than me. If those guys are still okay I guess I should be fine... but hey that footage could possibly not be me right =D
      the authorities are around these roads they're more concerned about bikes that do not have their road tax/insurance, smuggled in bikes, riders without a license, and bike condition such as lacking side mirrors or registration number.

      Thanks for the comment!
      I’ve tried an ER6N at my riding school and it was a knackered one so I can’t really compare, but if it was in good condition I believe it is similar to a CBR500R with more power.
      The CB650R is not bad for a 4 cylinder the torque comes in quite early in he rev range but not as urgent as a parallel twin.

      It’s subjective to what you think is hot IMO. There is a bit of heat build up if you stay in traffic for too long usually around your ankles. I ride with leather boots and I’m used to the heat as I’ve had bikes that run a lot warmer so it’s not a big deal for me.

    Hi bro, have you replaced the stock tires yet? Still waiting for an update on that regards though I'm still happy with the stock tires as they're quite good on wet roads and on twisties but my only complaint is, whenever I am passing through the rough surfaced roads there seems to be lack of bouncing effect...it's stiff and does not compensate so much the cushion needed because of the hard suspension of the cb650r. Aside from that they're okay it seems that I can still run it for another 3-5k kms. My cb is now at 9.5k kms and the wear of the tires aren't significant.

    • @RUBBERNMETAL
      @RUBBERNMETAL  3 года назад

      Hi bro, yea I replaced the stock tires (~2,800km on them) with a set of Bridgestone S22 and I can say that its the best mod for the bike so far. Like you I never had any real issues with the stock tires its just that I think it lacks feedback so I'm not sure what its doing. The S22 I got are grippier and gives better feel. I think the CB650R in general is kind of a stiff bike even with the newer tires it doesn't dampen the hard bumps a lot. Depending on your style of ride your stock tires could probably last betwen 15,000 - 20,000 km they're good for longevity. I wanted to maximise my go kart track day so I changed mine really early hehe. What tires do you plan to get on yours next?

    • @carlosjr.aguilar917
      @carlosjr.aguilar917 3 года назад

      @@RUBBERNMETAL so you did replaced the stock tires already with S22 and better performance. In my case, I'm still in the process of deciding when the right time comes though I have shortlisted in to 2, the S22 or the Touring Force of Mitas. Haven't added mileage to my CB yet with still ~ 9.5k kms to its odo since the new lockdown in Manila which started on March 29. Hoping the pandemic situation here will ease up soonest so I can resume riding outside of our region. Thanks again bro. Rs.

    • @RUBBERNMETAL
      @RUBBERNMETAL  3 года назад

      I believe to some extend it could be suitable for a beginner because you can ride it easily but the danger is being overconfident and pushing it a bit too hard where you need more experience to not freak out and handle any mishaps at higher speeds.

My CB650R is still at 6k kms though but I am also considering on replacing the stock tire with another brand once it's due or close to the minimum allowable thread mark and I heard in one of your vlogs that you also planned on replacing yours. Aside from Bridgestone Battlax, I am also considering the Pirelli Angel GT II but still comparing which one is better for the CB on both dry and wet roads. Reagds and ride safe always bro.

      @@carlosjr.aguilar917 no problem bro I’ll reply to any messages when I can. I’ve also heard plenty of good things about the Angel GT II it’s probably more for sports touring so on par with the Michelin Pilot Road or Bridgestone Battlax BT range.
      My bike is below 2,500kms on the clock and theres still plenty of tread on the tire. but someone wants to buy my tires so it’s not too bad if I replace them early. I want a more sporty ish tire like the Bridgestone S22 or Michelin Power 5. Had the S22 before on my GSXR600 which had no abs no TC, it was fine during wet weather.

      Hey friend, its a great idea the bike is not intimidating at all. really approachable and easy to get used to. Granted it has more power than a 250/300/400 but it also has traction control and ABS for safety. Unlike smaller capacity bikes you won't get bored of it too soon. But... just make sure you have some restraint and discipline because if you wring it hard it will definitely move.

    Do you feel it as being lacking in speed and power compared to your Gixxer? I'm looking towards a middleweight now, debating between a K7/8/9 GSXR600 / 750 (fast, but a decade old), or a CBR650R (more docile, but new).
    What's your take? Thanks!

    • @RUBBERNMETAL
      @RUBBERNMETAL  4 года назад

      I totally understand your position.
      The gixxer and CB are totally different in character. CB is eager to pick up its pace but runs out of breath quickly - it’s not happy in the higher revs and begs to for an upshift.
      However the gixxer takes a while to build up the speed but once you reach the sweet spot in the high rpm you’ll feel like it doesn’t run out of power - you have to ride it like a 2 stroke in order to get the most out of it.
      My old K8 had reliability issues as well because the bike was high mileage and rubber parts are worn. I spent a lot of money and time at workshops on keeping it in running condition. Nothing wrong mechanically it’s just worn and needs paying close attention to - not a reliable machine for work.
      In my opinion if you want a track weapon or weekend machine go for the gixxer but find a really good one with not so high mileage (keep some cash aside for wear and tear). Get a 750 if you can the low end torque on the 600 really sucks haha.
      But if you want a daily bike with some peace of mind get the CB. Built quality is much better and maintenance is not expensive. You can still track it but it won’t be as fast, you may get frustrated against others with faster bikes.

    • @tricasterstrat
      @tricasterstrat 4 года назад +1

      @@RUBBERNMETAL You hit the nail right on the head. Yess I'm concerned on the Honda quickly running out of breath...I can see that it reaches near 180kmh but already at the end of the RPM range. Seems like we'd have to rev it sky-high just to keep up with other similar cc bikes, or to reach its top speed of 230kmh.
      The Gixxer 600 will be quite ideal due to the modes...mode C for daily, A & B for fun. The 750 gives bragging rights due to its unique displacement. But yeah, wear and tear is unavoidable...want to stay away from headaches. Owning my 2012 car also already susah nak maintain, what more a fast 2009 bike.
      Plus, the Honda has ABS which is important...and being a new model, spare parts are easy to find + got warranty. The waterfall exhaust headers also look very cool.
      I don't know...what a dilemma. Wanting something with enough power to keep it fun for a few years, at the same time not causing a headache. Hahaha

    • @RUBBERNMETAL
      @RUBBERNMETAL  4 года назад +1

      @@tricasterstrat it is a tough position to be in. Are you gonna ride it daily tho? I rode my gixxer almost daily in traffic before it is a pain especially on hot or rainy days. The engine is high strung and the suspension is stiff. not everyday you want to deal with that character. For a 600 you won’t need the other modes I never use anything other than default it doesn’t have enough torque to accidentally wheelspin lol
      To be honest I don’t feel that the CB lacks in power for me you get a different beast above 8000rpm. I just came back on a quick run on Kerinchi highway syok sendiri it’s definitely not slow. But if you ride with friends on Panigale and ZX10R you’ll feel the difference 🤣
      I actually sold my gixxer for more than I bought it for (not including fixing cost tho) after a year of owning it because there’s demand for it. Don’t think you can do the same for the CB tho.

    • @tricasterstrat
      @tricasterstrat 4 года назад +1

      @@RUBBERNMETAL wow..great job on your gixxer! Yes those decade-old models have maintained their demand, and weirdly looks better than the 2014 models owing to the nice projector headlamp VS huge reflector units. I've owned a Yamaha R15 before. Its riding position is somewhat aggressive and I remember regretting brining it out into traffic. The throttle wasn't even sensitive, and with a 19hp engine, it's not even hi-strung. I can really imagine the pain you felt riding the gixxer in traffic.
      To answer your question, yes this bike would potentially be ridden to work and 2-up over the weekend with my wife. It has to see through these conditions without making the owner regret.hahaha...and most importantly being able to carry a pillion without a noticeable struggle / loss of power. You know us motorheads - once we see others overtaking with ease, the racun starts creeping in to upgrade.
      I saw in this video you went 180kmh in 4th gear. That's actually impressive and the stock exhaust sounds nice too. Perhaps I should look for a test ride first for the Honda. BigWing does not have these at the moment.
      And Kerinchi highway is really awesome for those early morning or late night runs. Weirdly relaxing and therapeutic!

    • @RUBBERNMETAL
      @RUBBERNMETAL  4 года назад

      @@tricasterstrat trust me you’ll be very lucky to get a test unit. I bought the bike based on video reviews and other owners’ opinions. And I had a CBR500 before I liked the built quality so that helped as well.
      If you want to own a supersports you should get one and experience it yourself. I didn’t regret getting the gixxer it’s just a tough experience trying to live the dream haha. It cornered like it’s on rails and revs up to 16k rpm - weekends and trackdays are reminders.
      Btw I saw online someone who’s selling a red low mileage Daytona 675. You should check that one out. it’s a potent bike, the triple engine has more low end grunt than 4 inline motors. You just have to live with the riding position it’s a bit aggressive. I know a girl who rides it to work daily for 5 years now lol
      And yea if you get a supersports bike adding the weight of a passenger onto your back and wrist will not be comfortable for long rides. Your wife can get a bike too and you can ride together 😎
