    Derestricted my bike at its first service with a custom tune for my Akro and dna air filter. done 50k on tune and it’s not missed a beat. Will do 115kph in first.

    Great video mate! I am from Sydney too so I WONT be the 1000th person to ask if they need a tune after this mod 😁! I’m thinking about buying one of these bikes for my wife. She previously owned a LAMS MT07 (damn that thing had some toe for a learner bike!!!) and that just had a restrictor plate attached to the throttle cable that prevented the throttle from being fully opened. It was a 5 minute job to unscrew the restricted plate and replace it with an unrestricted one. I never pulled it apart to see if the intakes were also restricted like the Honda.

    • @mitchdoescoffee

      Yea, those MT07's are a special bike... I was under the impression there was some kind of restriction on the MT tunes... But I could be wrong. 🤷‍♂️

    Restriction is for A2 licence (35kW). If you just swap intake “trompets”, it does not changes anything, restricted software remains. ECU flashing required also

      @CRBN74 10 месяцев назад +5

      You need to have the ECU remapped to release full engine performance. I doubt this made a big difference as fully unrestricting a CB650 will DOUBLE its power output.

  • @aja8590
    @aja8590 Год назад +3

    Does my head in that Honda Australia doesn’t just offer unrestricted versions of the CB650R and CBR650R. Yamaha does with the R7.

    • @mitchdoescoffee
      @mitchdoescoffee  Год назад

      I don't think Honda has enough "street cred" to warrant that option just yet... The MT07/R7 platform has been around so long that it is known as the superior option. It's also a very different configuration of bike... the MT/R7 is a very torque focussed engine. So even derestricted is makes alot less power than the Honda.

    • @aja8590
      @aja8590 Год назад +1

      @@mitchdoescoffee Honda Motorcycles lack “street cred”? First time I’ve ever heard that. The swap that you did in this video and an ECU flash (and you need to flash the ECU) is all that is required to bring the CB650R/CBR650R back up from a gimped 50HP to 94HP. Mentioning Yamaha had nothing to do with torque vs HP, it was the fact that Yamaha Australia will sell you a LAMS compliant version or an unrestricted version of the same model bike from new. Honda Australia can’t be bothered.

    • @mitchdoescoffee
      @mitchdoescoffee  Год назад +1

      @aja8590 I mean this particular bike... the MT07 is by far the most popular fun Lams bike in Aus.
      Intake tubes, air filter, tune & you will also need an exhaust of some sort to get close to that magic 100hp

    • @The.JZA.
      @The.JZA. Год назад +3

      I would buy an CB650R over an MT07 if they were both offered as full power versions. Looks better, buttery smooth inline 4, better suspension and brakes. It’s a no brainer for me. I have wanted a CB650R since they were released in 2018 but Honda AUS/NZ won’t give it to us as a full power model. I’ve emailed them multiple times about it. They’re missing out on sales because I won’t ride a modified LAMS bike. If you crash into an expensive car your insurance will be invalid.
