    Thanks. I noticed my VW Polo 2015 TDI was making this kind of rattling noise when I had it in neutral last summer, I've kept using it for around 6 months but it's gotten noticeably worse - also we're in winter and I agree the cold seems to make it more obvious. Eventually I've had the clutch getting stuck to the floor a couple of times and had to pull over to pull the clutch pedal up by hand. Now I've taken it to be repaired and the workshop has confirmed the issue, they said the DMF has basically disintegrated - I'll ask to see some pictures when I pick up the car. Apparently this is a pretty common issue with Polos or VWs in general of a certain age - VW doesn't even supply dual flywheels anymore so it sounds like a design flaw VW is fully aware of. They sell a single-flywheel conversion kit which involves replacing the flywheel, drive shaft, some bolts and clutch parts and probably other bits and pieces I forgot. All together £800 for the parts and labor will be a bunch more on top... OUCH.

    • @youcandoit1828
      @youcandoit1828  7 месяцев назад

      Yes the whole DMF is a complete con. They only last 100k at most if you ard hard on the clutch then less than this. They tried to make the diesels even smoother with the DMF but it was a disaster as they don't last. Before the DMF you never had to change the flywheel. What have you decided ? I'd just put a new DMF on and leave of any it last for 100k easily. Keep us posted. You can do if 👍

    I have similar noise on my t5 2l tdi manual on tick over 800 rpm disappears at 1000 rpm when parked up. No noise when driving only when idling it’s only done 50,000 miles. I can see auxiliary belt tensioner flapping. Could it be anything else apart from the DMF

    • @youcandoit1828
      @youcandoit1828  Год назад

      Hi, there was a problem with the aux belt tensioner from new on some T5’s and in Germany Austria there was a free replacement on warranty. From your info it sounds like a DMF as it’s at tickover. Unfortunately sometimes if uncertain it can be best to wait , if it gets noisier it’s the DMF. Always good to start the ball rolling and buy a new DMF ready for when you will have to replace it. Keep us posted. You can do it 👍

    I have similar noise on my Mercedes E250cdi 2011. But its different in the way when the sounds appears, It only appears while driving and only with shifted gear. Its only while low rpm a mostly on 1st and 2nd gear. When I hear it and put it in neutral the noise immediately stops and when I put the gear back the noise is back as well. And I feel slight “kicks” in clutch pedal. Do you think it could be the flywheel or something else? Thanks a lot for an answer.

    • @youcandoit1828
      @youcandoit1828  8 месяцев назад

      It’s difficult to say but if it stops when in neutral then it does sound like the box. Try to press the clutch in when it makes the noise and see if it stops. You can do it 👍

    • @youcandoit1828

      Hi it is DSG so can’t manually depress the clutch. If the clutch hasn’t failed which Is obvious as it slips then its the DMF
