I have a similar problem to my vw bora pd130, making a similar noise, would that affect mine on starting, spluttering and then stall? Within 2 seconds?
Had a 2006 A4 Audi, I think it was a B6 engine, which had exactly the same noise but it was intermittent, every time I'd take it to Audi it wouldn't make the noise, so they were absolutely no help, it then started to burn a lot of oil and found out these engines are prone to the oil pump failing, so ended up getting rid of the car and never to buy an Audi again, worst aftercare of any manufacturer.

What would be the replacement part number for Volkswagen routan
My passat 2.0 tdi from 2007 has this sound however extremely loud. it's a manual 6 gear transmission, got the car for free today so just wondering.
Hi mate I'm getting a similar noise from around the gearbox area even after replacing the DMF. Any suggestions?
Does fly wheel damage affects clutch system in dsg gearbox? Is it. Compulsive to change clutch system along with flywheel
Is it possible to get DMS failure on brand new car? I just bought a 1.5L TFSI AUDI A3 with 6 gears manual transmission and driving slow at low gears with windshields down I can clearly hear rattling sounds like you demonstration at 1:00. I’m also getting “kangaroo effect” … are these two symptoms (rattling sound and kangarooing) related? Should I ask for DMS replacement ?
mine is the Jetta 2.0 tdi it has this rattle and its intermittent its goes away for weeks then if im stuck in traffic on hot days it seems to show up It also speeds up with acceleration sounds like its there is also vibrations on the clutch and around the pedals this isnt always there either but if you press the clutch just before biting point or while sat on a hill kind of riding the clutch you can feel heavy vibrations in your foot too
Im almost certain this is my failure now also mine has 260k on the clock the DMF was changed at 130 so its bang on due again is it worth doing on a 57 plate ???
Great info
I have same nose and thought it may be the clutch or the flywheel
Thanks for confirmation
👌👍

Hey brother
I have a rattling sound only steering to left and the oil pressure engine off light comes up. Plus if i go for quick high rev speed up - i get a yellow notification of engine speed max 4000 rpm with a yellow epc light.
I am experiencing a loud grinding noise in drive right until about 55 km/hr. I've also developed a water pump leak. Quick guess, would you think it's two separate issues or 1 solely related to failing water pump?
I have a similar problem to my vw bora pd130, making a similar noise, would that affect mine on starting, spluttering and then stall? Within 2 seconds?
Had a 2006 A4 Audi, I think it was a B6 engine, which had exactly the same noise but it was intermittent, every time I'd take it to Audi it wouldn't make the noise, so they were absolutely no help, it then started to burn a lot of oil and found out these engines are prone to the oil pump failing, so ended up getting rid of the car and never to buy an Audi again, worst aftercare of any manufacturer.
Brilliant man
I have the same noise on passat b5.5 2001 1.8t tiptronic, is it the same problem or should i check anything else?
Hey my question is , is ok to drive it like that? May have that noise, but it’s located at the left side of the engine. Please help me .
Any help I live in New York I just purchased the 2012 Volkswagen Passat TDI and it's right around the 30-day lemon law and had to have the car go back to the dealer for a different issue and mentioned the noise to them and told them I thought it might have been a heat shield probably something common but can they look at it and never mentioned anything about it, I have this on text message should I seek legal action towards him
sorry I have same noise what is the problem FLYWHEEL??
Great video. Question: Were there also any symptoms on the cutch pedal, or did noises changed when pressed? I have a 1.6 TDI Ibiza that is starting to make a little noise/rattling (not as bad as this) that comes up when pressing the clutch pedal (which kicks back sometimes or feels like it's stuck other times) or when crossing a bump on the road. I believe it is due to the dual mass and possibly it will evolve to this. Hope I'm wrong
Same issue with my seat Ibiza specially in bumps. Did you solve it yet?
@@josem3651 Exactly. Not yet, no. Mechanics said it might be a worn out engine mount and is not worth to open the transmission yet, in case it is the flywheel, because the car has no power loss and the noise not intense nor constant. Their advise was to pay attention on the noise evolution only
Can it be the same symptoms on a manual golf mk5 gti edition 30
Yep had it on my gti mk5
Does a 2001 Wolfsburg 1.8t 5speed have a dual mass fly wheel I’m having the same sounds
Thank you so very much for this video!!!!
Cheers Ron
Similar noise while in park or neutral as soon as you put it in d or r it goes away but only rattles when cold
I've got a skoda octavia 1.6tdi mk3 just started to make this ticking noise at idle ... how long can it go for like this??????
I have a mk4 golf pd130 6 speed manual and it does that particular rattling only when on cold start and idling, after engine warms up it doesnt do it anymore, PLEASE give me some advice Im not sure if its the same thing as the one shown on the video
Yes, it probably is.. Do you get a rattle when shutting down the engine too? Sounds like yours is at an early stage - sell it now!
I have this exact type of noise in a 1999 jetta tdi ALH.... But those don't have a dual mass flywheel... What else could it be?
My Jetta 5 2.0 tdi locks the gear sometime what could be the problem?
I have same noise only in the morning ..was the flywheel!replace it and noise gone
I have the same noise and symptoms has this how much do u think I would be looking at to get it repaired in the UK
I'm pretty sure it'll be 500+. Did u manage to get it sorted? Dmf part cost 250+ depending on ur car model etc
@@muhhas601 I've not got it sorted yet I've got a 2007 audi a3 2.0 tdi dsg 170bhp
@@dean6662009 my DMF just went on me on Friday. Being quoted £650+ but i only paid £825 for the car so... its a mk5 golf 1.9tdi
@@VSTV1993 that’s not bad for a duel mass and full clutch kit if they do include that in the price with labour to fit it.
@@Alexander_l322 ended up scrapping it, got 320 for it and just ended up getting a vauxhall vectra which now failed it's MOT and costing 300 to fix... no luck with cars lol

I have a similar sound on a 2011 tiguan tdi, my mechanic has said its most likely the "torque converter" is this the same thing but they have used a different term for it? Im from Australia, if its not the same thing, would it also give similar symptons to a bad dmf?
I had this problem replaced the flywheel and after 3 months it came back what could it be
Top vid thanks Yorkshire UK
I have the same noise but my GTI is manual.
I've got an Audi A4 B7 2.0tdi 170 making a noise like this. On occasions when starting it, the noise doesn't appear but most times it does. Recently the oil pressure light has came on. Hex for oil drive gear has been fixed already. Sound like someone has dropped a spanner in the engine😬 any help is welcome!
Can this noise happen also in a SMF Single Flywheel?
Got a friend here with a 2004 Golf manual drive with like a fence chain draging on the ground noise(intermittent 1-2 secs) coming from passenger side by front wheel when a accelerating slow. Nothing hanging nor dragging under car. Anything on these vehicles, im scathing my head. Will AllData have this symptom in a tsb? Any help will do.
I have this noise for two seconds just when starting the car and then it completely goes away, is it fixable?
