Pump tracks are a thrilling way to boost your BMX riding skills. Regardless of whether you're a beginner or a seasoned pro, choosing the right bike for pump track riding can be a game-changer. In this video, we delve into the essentials of selecting the perfect BMX bike for your pump track adventures.
We discuss why pump tracks are an excellent choice for riders of all skill levels, and how they can help you build strength, stamina, and bike control. A question from our BMX nerds Discord community member Andy kickstarts our journey into understanding the right kind of bikes for pump track riding. Andy is a beginner at pump tracks and is looking for the ideal bike.
If you're in the same boat as Andy, this video is tailored just for you. We delve into the factors you need to consider, like gear ratios, frame size, wheelbase, and more mellow geometry like a 74.5-degree head tube angle, and a 13.2 to 13.5 chainstay. Understanding these elements can provide more control and stability at high speeds, which is essential on pump tracks.
We also touch upon why race bikes could be a viable choice for pump track riding and the pros and cons of using a BMX race bike.
To make your search easier, we link a few bikes in the description that are perfect for pump track riding.

Very first time on a portable pump track, didnt notice that the little entrance ramp was practically waxed pollished metal and i entered a little too much at an angle which caused the front tire to slip out and i crashed pretty hard bruising my ribs.

My first time at a pump track was yesterday. Got a little cocky, went into it way too fast with bad rhythm and got sent endo. I flew upside down into the pocket, bike and all. Fun stuff, definitely feeling it today.

I just got a 29in bmx and am loving it, would it be ridiculous to use on a pump track? I don't really wanna get another bike, just maybe ride around a few times a year. Its an hour away so its not like ill be there a lot.

I’ve ran 28/9 at pump tracks I personally like 25/9 since I can pump fairly quickly I don’t need extra torque but I do see where you’re coming from with dudes running 44/15 and such
