As a BMX or bicycle geek, give me recommendations of different parts and brands that are best if you're the one that will gonna used for life. Aftermarket parts probably the best because you can pick parts and not just a whole assembled bike.

i just bought a kink whip xl because im 6ft even. it rides nice and feels great at my local pump track and im learning how to control it more but i cant seem to get high enough on bunny hops. would you recommend upgrading the kink sever tires to something lighter and possibly a wheel change?

Frame length and chain stay length also comes into play with the leverage. Longer bike, you can ride taller bars.

Do you think doing tricks like tailwhip tire tap would potentially hurt the hub ? I just got it, I'm super excited, but I'm afraid tire taps could be a little aggressive for it. What do you think ?

Coming from mountain bikes means brakes are a MUST and my new BMX bike will get hydraulic brakes. Weight can be saved in new tires and cranks. I want brakes. @Dougsterbob Try brakes. They only add options for tricks.

At 45 years old I just put 9.8 GT bars on the Motomag and its a much better cruiser now, but I don't think the bent seat post in necessary now

My 1st bmx was a 2nd hand United Martinez, with brakes a ×2 steel pegs sub 25ib. Since then have built 2 aftermarket custom bikes not a budget but without spending a shit ton of money. I don't have scales but I'm sure the Martinez is lighter and much easier to learn on. So IDK, I'd say your 1st bike doesn't have to be the most expensive to make it easier to learn tricks on kids

Get a old tire cut the beads and som material off the sides and shove that inside the tire your using saved lots of drama as a kid living in the middle of nowhere my old man taught me that 1 obviously it Will weigh more but if that’s the only option between riding or not riding for a few months until you go into the city then well you deal with it

Can anyone here recommend a perfect BMX handlebar for my mountain bike? I want to ride with a more upright position, but because sometimes the length/width and geometry is a bit different on BMX versus mountain bike handlebars, I would love to hear anyone’s opinions. Obviously this will be for commuting, trail, off-road… But no BMX tricks. I’m not planing to throw a few bar spins during my ride 😆

I got it for 80 dollars lol. If you were to buy everything separate and build your own brand new it would cost 800+ for the 500 complete and used i got it for a fraction of that . Looking for something balancing reliability and ease of maintenance. My bike is my main method of transportation and i push it a little but i dont trick. Focused mainly on acceleration, somthing that can handle alot of power from a standstill. Im about 160lb and female, so not alot of upper body but i got legs. Just snapped a chain i got 3 months ago. On that topic, any suggestions on brands for high quality chains? My knees and shins thank you in advance.
