For me personally, its aesthetics -- which helps me a lot with riding because I have sensory issues.
Tailwhips are an another big reason I changed it as I stand on my cranks there and it just somewhat hurts less.
I also think it really depends on what side you want to lean with when doing sprocket stalls (if you even do them).
Overall if its 4 pegs its not an issue.

When I was first learning grinds I was unemployed and broke. I'm also goofy footed, so since braking something on the bike, or converting it wasn't an option, I learned the "normal" way which technically means switch for me. It took a bit, but I got the hung of it.
