    Little secret nobody is talking about that I tried out yesterday. There is a plastic lens hood in the pack, just like the normal lens cover but without the glass. If you switch over to that on very sunny days you no longer get any lens flare in your footage ;) Just remember to change it back over to the normal one if it is wet as camera is not waterproof if you switch over. Also removing the glass cover in low light is meant to dramatically increase quality as well as the iso drops slightly. But you do loose that extra protection to the main lens so need to take care and not damage it.

    I think there's an argument that a comparatively unknowledgable person should be shooting in 30 fps rather than 24. I definitely am a huge fan of the cinematic feel of 24 fps video for bike content, but the fact of the matter is that many people are watching internet content on devices with screens that are operating at 60 Hz, which results in judder from the 3:2 pulldown required to play the video. In particular, road bike content often has the painted road lines with sharp/high-contrast edges moving across the screen at a fairly constant speed, which can really strongly show judder and be somewhat distracting. It's certainly a matter of taste, but I think the slightly less cinematic feel of 30 fps video is a worthwhile tradeoff for the increased smoothness of motion.

    A few questions if you don't mind.
    How do you attach your camera to the mount? I'm usually out for several hours so I have to change the battery several times so I need a way to access the battery compartment easily.
    How do you make the video right way up when you shoot inverted?
    Love Jimmy's jersey, looks great. Where should I look for one?

    I have the original DJI action camera. The sound quality isn't great, so I bought the adapter and it improved a lot...but you have to make sure the mic adapter is solidly in there. Any bump in the road can make it jiggle out slightly...only to find that out when you get home. How's the mic on this new DJI? Does it require the adapter? Great video BTW.

    Quality is really important for stem mounts too. I tried a cheap one, but it flexed so much just from road vibrations that the footage was terrible.
    K-Edge mounts are aluminum and very stable. The mic will pick up tons of road buzz and drivetrain sounds quite loudly through the frame though.

    Great suggestions in this video! 👏👏👏 I'm a VERY part time cycle filmer, so I don't use a special action camera. Instead I use my iPhone 14 Pro Max. It actually takes lovely videos and its image stabilization/action mode is quite commendable. I use a Joby tripod and a smartphone mount adapter to attach the iPhone to my bike. Joby tripods are the ones that are made of many individual "links" which allows then to be twisted into just about any shape you want. I usually use mine to wrap the legs around my handlebars. It is surprisingly stable. If I'm riding with a mate, I wrap the legs around their neck to remind them that I am THE BOSS. P.S. Some Joby tripods have magnetic feet. That comes in handy at times as it will adhere to any ferrous surface at any angle and allow for some creative "passing by" shots or chitchat shots at a coffee shop. P.S.S When you upload videos to RUclips there is an option to employ their post processing image stabilization feature. You may or may not like it. But it's worth a try.

    • @MrLuigi-oi7gm
      @MrLuigi-oi7gm 10 месяцев назад

      @@ridhwanpatel7265 You'll hear all sorts of responses from people on this subject. Some will say they've had phone cameras damaged by vibration, while others will say they've ridden thousands of miles without issues. Unfortunately, it doesn't look like any actual studies have been done on this. Personally, I have had no ill effects to my iPhone from mounting it to my handlebars. The Joby does provide some shock absorption unlike rigid phone mounting systems such as the QuadLock. Then again, there are thousands and thousands and thousands of Phones mounted to bikes using QuadLock systems. If that presented a problem you'd think social media would be red hot with complaints. I used a Quadlock for many years to mount my older iPhone to my handlebars. No I'll effects to the camera. Apple does warn about mounting your bike on the handlebars of high powered motorcycles without a shock absorbing system due to the constant vibration from the engine. They make no statements about mounting the phone to a bicycle. Sorry I couldn't be of more help with a definitive "Yes or No" answer. (Assuming your question was actually a question and not a warning to never mount a phone to your bike!)

    30fps should be use when doing anything sports related. Its an action cam. 24fps isnt read for constant action sport type filming.
    You can have 3 camera views. I use a rear, front under stem, and either on top of my stem or shoulder clip on bag. The top stem is best as I can rotate that camera in any direction I want.

  • @DoNuT_1985
    @DoNuT_1985 10 месяцев назад

    Good tips, and I must say, your footage always works, so that's clear proof you know what your are talking about. The chest mount for sure is the best compromise between riding convenience and shot quality but it feels a bit odd going out as a non-creator and riding 3 hours to a mountain top with your chest belt strapped on for one good shot. Outfront under the stem only works for descents but it really needs a sweeping one because speed doesn't come off very wel, and you have to turn vertical stabilizers off. However, the hardest part is getting a good shot or actually "tell a story". I have found that views you think look cool through your own eyes are in fact boring on camera.

    Obviously this is more focused at people using their action cameras as a day-to-day dash cam - get a power bank that fits in your top tube bag and run the cable from it to the camera. Obviously, be careful it it's raining; but it can mean not having to change batteries. Even with the smallest power bank I have, I can get 3-4 hours of continuous recording on a single battery.
    On my cargo bike, I have a huge 22000mAH power bank in my Attacus handlebar bag and that gives my GoPro Hero 11 about 12 hours of recording time. More than enough for any ride, or (and let's be honest, it's this) when I forget to charge the GoPro batteries before I head out.
    Obviously much more limited in terms of what shots you can do, but it's also a good way of charging it up when you're not filming with it!

    @Cade_Media Helmet mount, not sure this is a good advice! remember Michael Schumacher with a Go Pro attached to a ski helmet not designed with go pro mount? For Safety Reasons, Cameras and lights should not be attached/added to helmet which are not designed for it; Safety device should not be altered. Sticking a camera mount will alter the safety device as it redistributes the loads in a different way than originally intended and could cause serious arm ( again: Michael Schumacher).

    The "Sticky Tape" Francis is referring to is called "3M VHB tape." Some varieties of VHB tape are built for general purposes, while others have special features for specific solutions. These tapes are available for situations with high dynamic stress, applications to paints and plastics or plasticized vinyl, and conditions that require transparent tape. Unsolicited advice. helmet mounts are a bad idea. if you need your helmet in a crash, you have compromised the protection of the helmet.

    Do not ever put anything on you helmet! It is a safety device, attaching anything to it compromises it's main function! Just don't!
