I was about to say.. This is an accumulation of knowledge from years of you experimenting and sharing. Throughout your videos we've seen (and heard) the changes and the improvements/growth. I've always tried to catch the quick tips you share in previous videos and streams. This feels like the true deep dive. Really; thanks for putting this together and sharing. Cheers to the ever evolving rigs through trial and error. Keep dialing them in TerryB!
Your "helmet videos" are my favorite! Perhaps I won't be able to visit NYC in this lifetime, so your videos are the closest thing I have to experience the city's atmosphere...
@@TerryB Terry, I'm not just liking them, I love them, I'm absorbed by them ) You really have a rare talent for capturing and transferring a truly immersive experience.
Thank you Terry. What has kept me with your content for multiple years is the attention to these small details. Especially audio, the 3rd person mic are my favorite (to be fair, for me it's more than 50% of experience🙂). Keep on experimenting!
Thanks, love your videos! Sounds like the Pocket 3 is the way to go for a cycling video noob like myself. How do you monitor the Pocket 3 to make sure the angle is correct, horizon is level, etc?
Thank you 🙏🏽. I use a quadlock and run the DJI mimo app. It gives you a live preview while recording. Even tells you when the wireless mic is connected.
So awesome man! Thank u so much! What an amazing short ... well it was almost like a video COURSE! You could have easily sold this! Maybe you should still do! In any case: Thank you for sharing, and thank you for this very calm and focused video! Your Video on "How to set up the helmet mount" from 4 years ago is still in my favorites to this day! Thanks for all the awesome filming in the past years and keep on doing what ur doing! Really hope to visit you one day in NYC too haha.
Good advice, thank you. I build a pole to back of bike but ideally such needs to be a special tripod structure to work really well and not affect bike by swinging/wobbling side to side.
Passing on that precious knowledge and experience for the new cycling filmmakers that are to come. Love to see it! You're not leaving us are you Terry?
Tks. Good piece. My uber strong recommendation is Bite Mount with GoPro 12. Keep it in back pocket. Can also hold in hand to shoot passing riders to the right and backhand.
Thank you for the free, hard-earned knowledge Terry. I like using a mouth mount because it's quick, easy, and cheap. I can keep the camera in a bike bag and if something cool comes up, I can quickly whip it out and start recording. The downside is that sometimes my breath will fog up the lens, and I can't hold it in my mouth for very long.
I also like the simplicity of the mouth mount, but for some reason if I keep it too long in my mouth, I start to gag. It’s not as if I’m trying to swallow the damn thing 😂 . Bloody weird.
Dude thank you so much for the advice on this! I've really been wanting to film my rides because my wife just likes watching them and I want to make them nice to watch. Love your channel, too man!
Good knowledge right there, thanks for sharing your expertise. I only really film my mtb rides using a chesty rig and an ancient go pro. Now you got me pricing up the dji pocket3 and mic combo. 💰🔥
man i love your videos, thanks for all, you inspire me to ride and to rcord my rides, i made myself most of the camera mounts that i use, and someday i will post the videos here, you are a big inspiration, please never stop
It would be cool to see a video where you share a bit of your editing process, like how you color grade the footage or the music that you use for a specific vibe for the video. i've been watching you for a few years, love the content. Props from Portugal :)
Great tips from one of the best around! Thank you breaking down the gear, positions, and what you’ve learned over the years for the super novice like my self who only films from an iPhone.
thank you! i probably never film cycling, because I don't even have time to cycle and fear cars on the road, but maybe some day I will take a vacation and go somewhere to cycle and film, I will rewatch this video again and buy a DJI (I guess). love motion blur too!
You inspired me!!! Bought pocket 3 last week and had fun a lot but have two question😂 1. Is there a training to avoid neck pain😂😂😂 ? 2. For solo road bike ride, where should I mount the DJI mic on the bike to have least noise as possible? Thank you terry. You are my idol😊
This was fantastic. Right now I'm deciding between the DJI Pocket 3 and the Insta360 X4. I want the 360 for the 'look back' but the Osmo is so easy to throw into other peoples hands to film ME and I already have the DJI Mics. Hmmmmm
Thank you for sharing forward the wisdom! Every time I see your videos in my feed I remember interrupting you at that cafe in Madrid--still have those stickers you gifted me, placed on my bikes :)
Very useful information, plan to film doordash vids on my hero10 in chicago (thank you very much for the night filming tech). It takes so much experimenting to find what works best your own induvial needs. Should probably staring carrying pepper spray now that I think about it. 🤔🤔
Big Thanks for the insights Terry! I absolutely love the osmo pocket, such a cool camera... For POV a mouth mount and wider view feels more natural in my opinion, but it's not that useful for longer shoots.
I've made a lot videos aswell. Your tips are really good. I also learned something. Fun fact at 8:22: Thats why you see in film-studios these board with a flap. There stands the scene and take and it claps loud. Some video editing software can "see" it and syncs the audio.
awesome stuff, terry! unfortunately cameras and audio/video equipment in general are VERY expensive and i try to do my best with my smartphone, hopefully one day i'll get the flexibility to try different things with smaller cameras someday heheh. also, i got to film with my smartphone on my helmet once, i adapted a handlebar smartphone mount on top of the helmet and the result was quite nice!
Yep after trying so many different GoPro gimbals etc I just bought myself a pocket 2 and mounted it. So much less unwieldy since the GoPro 10 gimbals are (relatively) huge. Pocket has much better onboard audio if no mic is available. Now just wish I had the pocket 3 😢
Thanks Terry, Appreciate the info! I got 2 questions. For the Hotline videos is the only mic the one on the rider? Would you recommend an external mic and/or wind cover if you are POV filming yourself only? Right now I have just been using the built in mic with protective shell and the wind is still quite noticeable even using wind noise reduction settings. Thanks again and keep doing what you do!
This was pretty cool. I've been itching to shoot some video from the bottom of my low rider pannier rack just to see what it looks like. Probably weird and kinda lame like everything else I shoot, but I have to know.
Friend, could you please tell me what you use to process your videos? How did you achieve such a cinematic, beautiful image? What tools do you use? I'm grateful in advance for any information."
Hey Terry London rider, have just adquiérele a dji osmo and struggling to find a stable attachment for my helmet what do you use? And is that interchangeable with the chest mount
Hey terry, do you encounter major audio-video time differences when GoPro creates seperate video files within long recordings between the video and synced seperate audio?
Thank you for these tips. Really, few RUclipsrs talk about this matter, but I have a question. What do you think about taking pictures with a mobile phone on the chest, iPhone or any other mobile phone that has good photography? Will it be good for photography as action cameras do? And another question: What do you think of Insta360 cameras?
Interesting Terry, it seems I'd need a body mount, I always wondered how you do the side view, does the goggle camera turn on its own, how does it know who to focus on?
hey terry! what's the mount that you got on your helmet for the DJI Pocket 3? is it just an adhesive or strap? appreciate it if you can send a link to it! thanks for the vid!
What brand of camera do you recommend for road cycling? Thanks
the one in this video

I love the chest mount, with the handlebar view, feels like i'm riding the bike.
It does but not ideal if you’re filming someone else imo

trying filming in mexico city on the highway with ana puga at full gas using the mouth mount. extremely difficult to breathe :)

Yeah it has a few mill secs of delay on long clips. The 11 and 12 create longer clips so it’s a bit easier to line up

Helmet manufacturers discourage camera mounts as it compromises crash protection.
