Really interesting video, BMX completes have come on so much now. My first three completes was Haro in the early 2000’s but it just shows how far and affordable manufacturing a bike has become yet also scary that a “complete” is just as good and as strong as a custom built BMX. As for Matty, I think you need to up to a 21” TT, the back ends are so short now it makes up for the rest of the geometry! The bars on the complete remind me of the Fly Bikes bars but Thinner tyres and that thing would be dialed!

Your impact on the BMX community is outstanding. Thanks for everything once again
I think Matty had more leverage on the complete because of it being longer. Maybe he should switch to a 21" top tube.. Also, I can't believe he runs 2.1" tires!?!!
Long tip tubes and short backends you spin so nicely. It’s smooth and steezy… Matty should get a 21.25 top tube bike and get the smallest possible rear end. This makes the back end twitchy for tech tricks but in the air it’s smooth. I have run that style frame as long as I can remember, they are so much more fun to ride. When you are over the back it’s twitchy and over the front it flows, so you can do all your tech stuff without issues but you don’t lose out on airs. Plus there is so much more room for tricks
I think the reason is that if you do 3 tries on your own bike that is try 1-3 and then if you hop on a bike you're not used to it really is try 4 on a slightly different bike.
I’ve been saying it for years that Matty has one of the prettiest flairs in the game. Which is why I always laugh when he and Scotty say he has trouble with them!
Probably the slightly slacker headtube and longer chainstays were more stable for bigger tricks. Where as the shorter frame is good for street and tech tricks. The top tube length might have some effect but most likely the geo is the reason bigger tricks looked smoother

well..honestly there is nothing on paper that says a custom bike should or could be better than a built bike. Its like buying a bike and changing seats. The seat wont make you a better rider really lol..In most cases its the rider, not the bike..
Man as a rider in my younger days myself found the longer frame was always comfortable and easy to spin and move I had the Garry fisher special blue with clouds was the best thing I ever rode till got stolen
Great idea for a comparisson. And its always better to find the own way. Some Pros know what they need and customize it for their needs. I don't like the 100 PSI tires. So I know that it will be more comfort with less PSI. But I am far away from the shown skills. I am to old to learn that, but I love riding my BMXs. 20" is killer on all Pumptracks. Have good times riding bikes. All the best ❤
I would imagine that doing the trick on the custom right before doing it on the complete is some good practice and affects the results. Maybe next time try complete first. Still, it's incredible how good that complete is for the price, and only 2 pounds different! I wonder how different the long term reliability is
my thoughts are the longer frame/ wheel base would allow the bike to swing better. More weight that gets thrown around. Heavier to get going but once in rotation it goes.
I always thought Matty looks crowded on his normal bike not that it affects his ability! However, with that being said he looks more comfortable on the longer frame! I have done that plenty of times figured out what i thought i preferred actually didn’t work in my favor!

His 8yo brother is now moving from an 18" to a 20" & I was able to get him the L80 for $280 new in box. There's only a 1/4" difference in top tube length with L80 being 20-3/4. I got myself a Crew cb275 to cruise around with them. It's murdered out. I'm thinking of adding purple alloy but unsure of brand for good quality without the pro-level price. I also want the color shades to match... as I remember shades can be way different between brands. Can you recommend some parts? Thanks, man! (I've been out of the scene for a long, long time. My brother, Johnny V & I were there when they built Sundowns BMX in El Paso in early 80's. Great memories. He's passed away now & want to add purple for a nod to him. I raced road for team Wounded Warrior Project for 8yrs. Now I cruise easy trails on a C'dale F4 Caffeine 29er hardtail. I'm glad grandson's want to pursue riding. Hoping to build great memories for them too.) ✌️😎
For at least 6 years if not longer Marty’s been riding the same geometry. The C2 frame wizard frame and the la familia frame are really close in geometry. He broke out big on tall order probably from having a longer back end. He should prototype a trails style frame geo and see what happens
I've been looking at buying a complete for dirt and trails. My park bike is full custom and I love it but I could flow trails better with a bit longer bike and most the completes out there are pretty awesome. Especially above the $450 price
Best thing I ever did was pick up a bike for 500$ subrosa ,when I was 15 my first job 😅 I’m now 22 and the bikes still sitting in my garage! It’s a sick orange frame that I can’t seem to find when googling
Looking at those specs, probably the best sub $500 bike ive ever seen. This video doesnt go into longevity tho. I dont expect those cranks to last long especially if youre a heavier rider (which for that size top tube you probably are taller/heavier) but that still a bargain at under $500. Cool video guys.
I’d be interested to see what the complete bike weighs. Im imagining it’s around the same weight as the custom, but couldn’t find any info on their website. I have a Kink Search complete with the 21” top tube and I love it. Weighs in right at 25 lbs. Granted the frame and wheels are about the only things left stock on it
I have a complete different brand cro mo front triangle, in 3 years I've broken cranks and bars. 3 pegs and no brakes it's 26.4 lbs. I put on demolition momentum tires unaware of the weight and a 28 tooth sprocket. Every time i look at a replacement its heavier or doesn't ride the way i like
I have an l100 that I’ve been riding for 2 years. Almost nothing on it is stock anymore. It’s a great bike. Bought it because I thought I could break it
Moral of the story: Matty coulda saved $1500!! LOL Seriously though, I appreciate this video. I plan to get back into BMX riding after 37 years (Yeah I'm old!) Man as a rider in my younger days myself found the longer frame was always comfortable and easy to spin and move I had the Garry fisher special blue with clouds was the best thing I ever rode till got stolen
The big soft wheels helped immensely on the flair. Soft big squishy wheels allowing for a less intense pop resulting with less stiffness
Scotty I'm so glad your doing so well .
Man, I love you guys. The last time I whatch you was in 2015 i guess.
I have expensive bikes and also the L100, and the L100 is a legit bike, and can handle anything you can throw at it.
I would imagine that doing the trick on the custom right before doing it on the complete is some good practice and affects the results. Maybe next time try complete first. Still, it's incredible how good that complete is for the price, and only 2 pounds different! I wonder how different the long term reliability is
Matty should def consider riding a 21"tt he looked really comfortable on that legion
That complete is actually a crazy good deal considering it’s all moly and had sealed bearings W for mongoose
my thoughts are the longer frame/ wheel base would allow the bike to swing better.
Does it make difference between left and right side sprocket
the entirety of scotty's dialogue sounds like hes announcing it at xgames
Maybe Matt needs to change his geometry again and he should also ride bigger tires they look so much better
Back to back flare was so good.
What about the reflectors?
100 psi is crazy I’m 35 and used to ride Bmx when I was 13-18 so much has changed
i definity pick l100 cause you know im used of long chainstay and its durable it hold up to advanced tricks keep it up
Is my fit trl a good bike I am 6ft

Thanks for the info drop, brother. Great work putting this video together!
Last year I got a Sunday blueprint for my 10yo grandson.
Hoping to build great memories for them too.)
✌️😎
For at least 6 years if not longer Marty’s been riding the same geometry. The C2 frame wizard frame and the la familia frame are really close in geometry. He broke out big on tall order probably from having a longer back end.
He should prototype a trails style frame geo and see what happens
Matty - spec the custom with the complete bike geometry. 21tt 13cs etc 🚴♂️great vid thx 🙏
02:00 the front hub is not sealed.
My just turned 3 year old asked. Hey what is that daddy doing with kids bike?😂
I bet the longer back end helped Matty on that flair. It was SOOOOOOOOOOOO SMOOTH.
Where is this skatepark?
I’d be interested to see what the complete bike weighs. Im imagining it’s around the same weight as the custom, but couldn’t find any info on their website. I have a Kink Search complete with the 21” top tube and I love it. Weighs in right at 25 lbs. Granted the frame and wheels are about the only things left stock on it
Complete was 2LBS heavier.
27.4 lbs he says so in the video
Snagged my L100 used for $100... All it needed was a bit of maintenance and it's great.
I plan to get back into BMX riding after 37 years (Yeah I'm old!) Last time I owned/rode my own BMX was back around 1986 or so when dinosaurs had just gone extinct. This video gives some reassurance that I don't need to spend too much to get something of decent quality for mainly just cruising around with my daughter, and to eventually give to her when she commits me to an old age home! 😉🤣
Looks like matty need s a longer frame
the legion would be a good trail bike! longer top tube and mellow headtube angle, longer back end. 👌🔥
Great video!!
Almost every trick looked smoother on the green mongoose...
